Been watching and listening to a lot of George on Spotify and YouTube lately. Beautiful voice, still miss him! Anyone else?

His performance of Somebody to Love at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert just showed how amazing his voice was and what a fantastic performer, as well as songwriter, he was.

Effortless for him wasn't it.

stopthatsnooze · 02/01/2022 22:34

George was the soundtrack to my whole teenage hood. Fancying lads, school discos, first snogs then serious relationships in later years. Love him.

Whilst I'm not particularly a James Corden fan I did love seeing George's comical side in the carpool karaoke

Peridot1 · 02/01/2022 22:34

I wasn’t much into Wham as a teen when they started but loved George from Careless Whisper on really.

Saw him perform in Budapest when we lived there and he was amazing.

He seemed like such a lovely guy. And so talented.

Shallwegoforawalk · 02/01/2022 22:37

As well as the actual Freddie concert, I love the clip of the rehearsal when David Bowie is watching George sing. Now that's Pressure 😉

Nanny0gg · 02/01/2022 22:40

Acoustic I Can't Make You Love Me still brings out the goosebumps.

And I love his Wham stuff too. Such fun

Beautiful voice and a beautiful man

@LuluBlakey1

Just listening to 'A Different Corner' on Spotify - it's lovely. I'd forgotten how lovely. He had such a voice!

George Michael- The Musical- could be fabulous.

Nooo!

Who could do that voice?

Me too, I didn't realise how many of his songs I loved until he died. Or that he was in many ways part of my soundtrack.

SaigonSaigon · 02/01/2022 22:45

Really miss him and do actually think about him which I don't do about any celeb, ever! His music really resonated with me. Too many favourites but heard Cowboys and Angels the other day and had to stop still and listen (with a tear or two in my eye...)

I remember watching the tribute concert to George and truly appreciating how good his voice was as the artists singing his songs failed to get anywhere near the performance levels he achieved effortlessly.

ChoccyJules · 02/01/2022 22:50

As a teen, I wasn’t a big Wham! fan but I do remember their final songs, kind of a different style by then. We all danced to the early stuff at school discos though!

Different Corner though, as a youngster I gorged on the video but now I find the song itself is so much better than I remember, like a second chance to appreciate his voice.

I thought his Comic Relief sketch with Corden was fabulous and I am another who only found out about his generosity when he died.

Lovely thread for a lovely man.

mumswobblybits · 02/01/2022 22:55

It still devastates me after all this time. George was a wonderful talent and a kind generous soul. Each year at Christmas it’s harder to accept he is gone. I recently read Pepsi and Shirlie’s book and loved Hearing about the early years. And Ive started listening to WhamFantastic again, brilliant ! X

RosieProbert · 02/01/2022 22:57

Such a talented such a gap left in the world after he'd gone. I wonder who he'd have collaborated with of he was still alive now. His lyrics are beautiful. You Have Been Loved, Father Figure and Jesus To A Child are so heartfelt. Beautiful.

Totallyaddictedtoshoes · 02/01/2022 22:58

What a beautiful voice George had and he was clearly a beautiful human too. I always feel sad around this time of year, that he has gone, it was such a shock to hear the news. It's funny as before about 10 years ago I hadn't realised how much of my life I had loved his music, it was always there, in the background, a constant from when i was a child. God bless his soul and thank you George, for all the things you did for those less fortunate than you and for giving us your music.

Noluthando · 02/01/2022 22:59

Beautiful voice.

iklboo · 02/01/2022 23:00

His version of First Time Ever I Saw Your Face gives me goosebumps every time.

custardbear · 02/01/2022 23:03

@Riverlee

Did you listen to the Radio 2 countdown yesterday? It was lovely.
Yes! It was lovely and I was in tears when it was careless whisper because he's just a legend and it's so unfair he died too young 🥺 - my husband was a bit terrified as we were driving 😰
