Hello Ladies - hopefully a new thread for you... @Carosel2 @Whitestar55 @Chrissols @danblack87 @flutterby18 @wfh21 @workingfromhomenow @cherryblossom114 @Lovemydaxie @homeworkmum and anyone else I have forgotten.

OP posts:
choice456 · 09/03/2022 12:18

@whitestar55. I would have no basis on which to disbelieve what you say is your experience. What i would question is, based on how you appear to feel about working for an organisation that Is not, by your comments, aligned with your values or bringing you either financial or job satisfaction, why you are keeping yourself here.

Whitestar55 · 09/03/2022 12:41

Why are you so concerned?

choice456 · 09/03/2022 13:01

@whitestar55 . I guess from a human view because i find it difficult to comprehend why anyone would put themself in a position which appears to bring no joy. On a cerebral view, I’m not.

danblack87 · 09/03/2022 13:07

I probably fall into the 'no choice brigade' but that is not how I perceive myself. I am more than happy with what I do (although in a divaricate position); but there are things I would be happier with. To me having a grumble/moan is widespread in a social working environment and, therefore, this forum (for working-from home) is just a branch of that i.e. all positives and negatives count - It's good to talk 'people'!! Let's just not make it personal. Everyone is entitled to an opinion whether they have a plan B, C or Zee Smile.

Brooke0702 · 09/03/2022 13:12

@Lemongrass9 I say go for it, you’ve got nothing to lose. I was in the same position around seven months ago and decided to go for it abs am very happy so far. Yes the emails can be disheartening and frustrating but they do diminish after time. I also agree with @choice456, I have a minimum target (personal) of £50 p/d but generally I hit around £80 p/d, this is alongside doing nursery runs etc so not full time. I suppose it depends on how much you are hoping to make from it and how much time you can/do put in. It isn’t for everyone but it suits a lot of people for now. Good luck whatever you choose Smile

Meha5a · 09/03/2022 13:21

I have a new computer, Bang & Olufsen headphones and a mechanical gaming keyboard - all of which have been brought in the last year why, because I thought my equipment was getting old and that was why I was financially dropping off. I then had my hearing checked why, because I thought that was deteriorating due to having headphones in for x amount of years - that was fine. Has my typing got faster on my new keyboard, yes when the dictation is average, can I hear clearly with my headphones, yes when the background noise and dictation is clear, is my internet top notch, yes because I upgrade yearly. Has the dictation deteriorated on tasks for DICT8 that's a big YES and that was acknowledged by DICT8 when I had a telephone update where we were able to discuss issues (some of which have been taken onboard by DICT8 and addressed)

Whitestar55 · 09/03/2022 13:47

DICT8 has little control over the quality of the dictation, but they are definitely unwilling to negotiate on pay and what exactly we are paid for. They, are however, reliable in sending cheques out for your invoiced amount.

danblack87 · 09/03/2022 13:50

I tried headphones two weeks but they made no difference to what I could hear. I need a new laptop but that is because the battery is on it's way out and locks me out at least 6 times a day ... unfortunately, I can't afford a new one at the moment. My printer is Kaput but, fortunately, I do not need to print invoices at the moment; so, in perspective that is not a necessary purchase. Pro's and con's I have good days (better weekends); I like what I do albeit with much annoyance with the work available at times AND, yes, I would like pay rise Hmm

danblack87 · 09/03/2022 13:52

@meha5a: I also had my hearing checked and it is fine!!!

Meha5a · 09/03/2022 13:56

@choice456 "positive comments attract a flurry from the core dissatisfied" and vice-versa.

Some people are not in the position to flit from job to job if they are not happy or fulfilled. Some people shoulder enormous responsibility and put the needs of others in their lives ahead of their job happiness (although in all my years of working I can honestly say I have never met one person whose happy place is work, but there you go) I get fed up with the constant me, me, me and me first, my happiness argument that is put forward every time if somebody is struggling in their job/life - if it was that easy to flit from job to job we would all be doing it right ?

danblack87 · 09/03/2022 14:18

@meha5a: Correct. There are many people who cannot just flit from job to job; for whatever reason. All do what they need to to sustain a balance in their life and I concur with that.

choice456 · 09/03/2022 14:18

@meha5a - I guess it depends on how you define flit because this is of course an industry where loyalty would perhaps not be as robust as in a traditional work environment if other opportunities came along, because that is the nature of the contracts we have. If someone has been doing this work for a few years or more, would you define that as flitting to leave? Or would you think, possibly, it can't be all that bad if they are still here a few years later? We each individually weigh up our checks and measures and our decisions are based on that, for which only we can take responsibility.

danblack87 · 09/03/2022 14:36

@Choice456: 'flitting' is not a word I could use. I am not able to do that even if I wanted to ... in my home 'my office' is my sanctuary and all I wish is to be able to work in a sustainable manner alongside the commitments that I have (it is my way of keeping some sanity in my life and the inability to apply for other jobs even if I could). I'm afraid I fall outside of all of the boxes: I can't change that at this moment in time and probably for some years to come.

Whitestar55 · 09/03/2022 18:50

We've had posters on our threads claiming that DICT8 know about and monitor the thread, others that claim that we'll be disappointed if we think the thread could be a communication channel (what makes them so sure), when we actually have had emails that have made references to topics discussed in the thread, others downright condescending and attempting to silence us, suggesting that we leave, sock-puppets, you name it, so just to let you know, we're not so naive, we are capable of making our own decisions and judgements and we don't need lectures or manipulations.

Meha5a · 09/03/2022 19:49

Sock-puppets indeed @Whitestar55 !!!!!

carosel2 · 09/03/2022 20:28

@Whitestar55 @Meha5a I totally agree and this debate is getting suspiciously similar to the one previously that got out of hand with the same goading.

Gally123 · 09/03/2022 20:52

@carosel2, @Whitestar55, @Meha5a - I was thinking the same (and trying to keep out of it) not sure why I get suspicious when someone - who has never posted before - comes on here and starts claiming to earn good money, not just good money but double what anyone else says they earn etc.

OP posts:
carosel2 · 09/03/2022 21:35

@Gally123 - if you go back in to the old thread youl see whose supporting and encouraging the goading.

choice456 · 09/03/2022 21:48

@carosel2; @whitestar55, @Meha5a … gosh, the sense of paranoia is real.

What i fail to understand (perhaps i am less on point or switched on than you are, or i have clearly been outsmarted .…) is why you persist in claiming this is an information and experience sharing site when actually, you discount what some of us say if it deviates from your mantra; you think some of us are telling lies about the information we share when asked a specific question. Its near predictable who the avalanche will come from as you fall over yourselves to refute or cast aspersions on something you can have no true knowledge of. I appreciate you may think the core of you are the body of this group but, ummmm there are others, just less vocal about how awful the results of their choices are, (or perhaps they accept responsibility for that and are doing it anyway.) Earning the amounts earned (which was the answer to a query on feasibility from a newbie) may not be your reality but it is mine, and it seems others’ too. If you truly want to share experiences, you must accept yours is not the only experience by which others should measure. And if you are that unhappy, you need to take responsibility to change it. If you keep doing things the same way you have always done them, you will keep getting the same results you always have.

carosel2 · 09/03/2022 22:56

@Choice456 - RESULT!!!!!!

carosel2 · 09/03/2022 22:58

.....now that is so predictable!

choice456 · 09/03/2022 23:14

@carosel2 - i fear you mistake facetiousness or irony for fact…

Meha5a · 10/03/2022 08:49

Did somebody have a word salad for tea last night ???

Gally123 · 10/03/2022 09:04

@Meha5a - I had fish poached in milk with rice, carrots, peas and a couple of sprouts, if you are interested.

OP posts:
danblack87 · 10/03/2022 09:37

@meha5a: A 'word salad' .. I disagree with that. Each expresses their own take on things in their own words no-one can be slated for that surely? BTW I had a humble chicken and ham pie with a side of chips and some peas .. the carrots were cremated (I forgot they were on!!) - Smoke alarm failed to work !!
