Where was Boris Johnson?

Does anyone know where Boris Johnson was over the last ten days? He was interviewed and asked if he had been abroad. He said of course not and did a laugh as if he was lying.
So where has he been?

I mean I can’t stand the man, but I can accept that he’s allowed a holiday.

You’re not “allowed a holiday” in the conventional sense when you’re the Prime Minister, though. You aren’t. You’re the leader of the government of the country. And you know this when you put yourself up for the post. A couple of weeks in the sun in a normal summer during parliamentary recess when there’s not much meant to be going on and you’ve deputised appropriately? Sure. But during a pandemic, with data pouring in daily that requires constant analysis to fine tune decisions that are literally life or death for people and businesses. Fuck off are you on holiday like the office junior who’s had his manager sign his time sheet for the week. It’s appalling.

It was his “holidaying” in February 2020 that meant he missed a lot of the early warning signs and failed to attend key meetings which meant that important decisions failed to be made. You think he’d learn from that.

itsgettingweird · 30/12/2021 17:49

Except surely it's better people think you're incapable when telling the truth than being incapable of telling the truth?

If he genuinely believed in his own hype he's been world bating in this he should stand by that and lead with with confidence.

eagerlywaitingfor · 30/12/2021 17:50

@PurplePikachu

Maybe he’s been spending time with his wife, toddler and newborn? Having a break? Mourning his mum who died last year?

I mean I can’t stand the man, but I can accept that he’s allowed a holiday.

Yep.

Apologies - vitriol in my last post directed entirely at our esteemed “leader” and absolutely not at the poster I quoted! Reading it back, it sounded a bit rude.

LadyRoughDiamond · 30/12/2021 17:50

Mustique again, apparently.

Now that I can believe….!
CorrBlimeyGG · 30/12/2021 17:56

has been in charge of a country during a pandemic for the past 2 years.

He's not though, has he?

lovescats3 · 30/12/2021 17:58

The lying fuck was at more meetings with wine and cheese but indoors this time.his choice to have 2 more kids the 5 and more weren't enough for him

lovescats3 · 30/12/2021 17:59

He's got a tan

girlmom21 · 30/12/2021 17:59

@ancientgran that's not what the poster I was responding to suggested. See - he can't win.

stopringingme · 30/12/2021 17:59

He is probably fed up of everyone over analysing everything he says and does and he knows that whatever he says and does is picked apart and more read into it than is true - you just have to look at some of the replies here and on other threads.

I certainly don't need to see him or any of the others on my screen every day - Christmas has seemed almost normal, and I am thankful for that.

He is still allowed a private life and does not have to tell the world what he did over the Christmas recess, I am sure he knows exactly what is happening and is contactable at all times, what do some of the posters on here want a camera trained on him 24 hours a day.

10 Downing Street has more than one entrance, but was more than likely at Chequers as that is where previous PM's have spent Christmas.

Hopefully he had a bit of a break from the intense pressure he is surely under and enjoyed time with his young family.

Yellownotblue · 30/12/2021 18:04

@elelel

He was asked where he had been and he replied with a guffaw and 'in this country' - so definitely not in this country.
I assume he went to Necker island (BVI). Besides, his pal Branson owes him a favour.
WimpoleHat · 30/12/2021 18:05

He doesn’t. But - thinking back to another thread where I was arguing that it’s really off to ask personal questions - it’s a very odd thing to be cagey about, isn’t it? “Where were you for Christmas?” is something you could ask your best friend or your boss’s boss without much fear of causing offence. “London”, for example, would’ve been a perfectly acceptable answer. Someone has asked the question because they already know the answer….

He did a speech to the nation on 22nd Dec and I think one on the 23rd as well… is today the 2nd January then? Hmm

I was responding to Because saying "quite frankly, I'm fucking exhausted" doesn't quite give off the best vibe. I don't see why suggesting he can say he's having a few days off without saying he's fucking exhausted means he can't win. I'd think just being upfront and honest would enable him to win.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 30/12/2021 18:15

I'm not saying our death rates are ok but MissLucy please educate yourself as to the current real situation around the world before claiming to state facts

Perhaps you could assist my education by stating what you think the correct figures are, rather than just saying I’m wrong and posting an illegible screenshot?

RoyalFamilyFan · 30/12/2021 18:17

I agree the journalist asks because they know, but haven't got any proof.

He could just say he has been working from chequers over the festive period, even if all he has been doing is eating and drinking.

This is a situation entirely of his own creating.

UnconditionalSurrender · 30/12/2021 18:21

Who the af would want that? Shudders.
Might be nice if his job semi competently though.Or looked like he was

itsgettingweird · 30/12/2021 18:22

Recorded speeches which could have been done from anywhere!

I agree with above poster that the question "where did you spend Xmas" is pretty innocuous in itself.

And I'm sure if friends and family or colleagues and my boss asked me and I said "in this country" they'd find it odd and actually quite rude.

"We stayed in a nice holiday home in the countryside"
"We travelled abroad for a week for some winter sun"
"We travelled north to stay with family for a week"

All fairly lacking in detail but don't indicate something to hide.

UnconditionalSurrender · 30/12/2021 18:23

He did a speech to the nation on 22nd Dec and I think one on the 23rd as well

These were pre-recorded and judging by the griminess of his collar and his dirty suit- all recorded on the same day. Fuck knows when.

MarshmallowSwede · 30/12/2021 18:26

Perhaps cheating on his latest wife and making baby number 8. Isn’t he known for this?

My money is on for creating yet another baby mama and cheating.

WimpoleHat · 30/12/2021 18:27

I wonder. The strategy these days seems to be to get him to say something and then leak a photo to the Guardian/Mirror showing him doing the opposite….
girlmom21 · 30/12/2021 18:32

The journalists ask any old bollocks in the hope someone slips up and they get a big scoop.

They don't care what the public want to know. They care about what will get them noticed.
