Eating our 10-a-day thread (2)

Hi all

This is our second thread about upping our veg and fruit intake on a daily basis.

We tend to list what we've had to keep us accoubtable and generally chat about how to increase the rainbow on our plate.

We don't always make 10 but anything more than you would normally is great. I like to at least get 5. 10 or even sometimes more is a great day.

All welcome whatever reasons.

🥬It's a non subtle self brainwashing technique.😂

PartyOnKale · 12/01/2022 00:09

I deliberately picked up kiwi fruit this week as I've not had any for ages.
I aim to vary stuff week to week. It's always less interesting in winter.

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 12/01/2022 16:08

Salad/beetroot (1/2 portion each)
Apricots
Apple/pear juice
Mango
Urban fruit strawberries (dried)

Haven't decided on tea yet but pleased with that so far even if a bit fruit heavy!

Can anyone recommend which dates I should get from Tesco? Shopping online

Sparklydiplodocus · 12/01/2022 17:28

Hi all, can I join?

For breakfast: large banana with oat yogurt
Snack: nakd bar

Bit gutted to find out I have high cholesterol despite all the healthy eating 😟. Feel like I am ticking all the boxes but it’s not having the right impact. Anyway:

  1. Raspberries
  2. & 3. Carrot, ginger & cannellini bean soup
  3. Kale
  4. Peas
  5. Sweet potato
PartyOnKale · 13/01/2022 19:05

Now there's "good" cholesterol as well as bad is there not?

PartyOnKale · 13/01/2022 19:10

Today:
1 satsuma
2 kiwis
3 roasted plums
4 spinach
5 Carrot

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 13/01/2022 19:20

Mango

So that makes 7. I'm happy with that as before this thread I might have only got a couple of portions a day. I figure aim for 10 Smile

  1. Lettuce/tomato/cucumber/onion/sweetcorn (on a sandwich so only 1 portion i think)
  2. Broccoli
  3. Carrots
  4. Cavolo Nero Kale

Not such a full day. I've noticed that when I eat meat alternatives that I tend to eat less. Dh is a meat eater and sometimes he and the dc like a more traditional plate of food. So it was fake schnitzel for me tonight and then veg. I do enjoy it but it's definitely much harder to get more veg in that way.

Also out and about today so had a sandwich from Subway at lunch.
