Finally. We can say it.

I've just utterly broken down for Arthur.

I was told about this today. Have just read the details. It's utterly disgraceful that social services did nothing for this poor innocent little child. 😢 I can't bear to think how much he suffered. Hope the evil pair get the same done to them for the rest of their miserable lives.

Goldbar · 02/12/2021 18:37

The level of evil is incomprehensible.

It makes me want to weep for all the missed chances to save him. Arthur died thinking nobody loved him when actually there were lots of people who cared about him and tried to intervene but were prevented by the police and social services. He had grandparents and uncles who doted on him. Even his school tried their best to ensure his welfare. Although Tustin and Hughes are overwhelmingly responsible for his death, it is beyond sad to think of what could have been (Arthur alive and well with people who loved and cherished him) if only the official agencies had listened and taken the repeated concerns seriously. All Arthur asked for was to go back to his nan's.

Naughtynovembertree · 02/12/2021 18:38

Yy bagels.
And his body language is very strange.. Mid riff showing.. Looking bizzare I mean surely by this point Arthur was in an ambulance? Or was this the day they were arrested?

CaveWoman1 · 02/12/2021 18:38

The sentiments expressed on this thread echo my feelings when I read the original article. This has got to be, for me, the singular most horrific case of child abuse I think I’ve ever come across. The calculated torture, the fact that little boy was recorded crying “no one loves me,” hours before his tragic death.

It turned my stomach & I can’t get it out of my mind it’s so horrific.

May that little soul find happiness & peace now wherever he is xxx

Fluffmonkey82 · 02/12/2021 18:40

@Cmsadvice

Fingers crossed the sentencing fits the crime. RIP beautiful Arthur. You will be in my thoughts for a long time.
What a lovely comment Flowers
MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 02/12/2021 18:41

I don’t understand how the social workers didn’t see the bruising on his back. Surely they saw the photo and they visited the day after it was taken so that bruising would not have faded so quickly. It makes no sense.

Santaischeckinglists · 02/12/2021 18:41

Side note but nspcc are doing a Santa letter for a fiver with the money for the charity. Seems a fitting cause right now.

It’s so odd isn’t it. Everything is “off”. You can almost hear the police officers disbelief as she’s repeating back to Tustin what she’s saying.

The date on the cctv says 16th June. That’s the day Tustin attacked him. He was on life support overnight and that was switched off on the 17th. So that footage must literally be just a few hours after she’d attacked him. It’s still light, and she attacked him around 2.30pm.

His behaviour is so strange. It’s like he’s on Team Tustin.

Malibuismysecrethome · 02/12/2021 18:42

They probably never looked.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 02/12/2021 18:42

“Sorry if someone has already said it, but Tustin's barrister has said that she has received substantial threats and violence already and minimal medication for her mental health. It's reported in the Coventry Telegraph live feed. Also had salt thrown at her.”

And I wonder if she now realises how the threats and violence and disregard to mental health impacted Arthur.

I suspect that the only upset she will feel will be for herself.

I reserve my sorrow for Arthur.

UserOfManyNames · 02/12/2021 18:43

I only hope that evil bitch ends up in the same prison as Arthur’s mum and she knows real fear. Albeit a tiny proportion of what Arthur would have felt. See how the torturer and murderer of a small child squares up to the murderer of a man. I hope the guards let her get on with it. The mum has nothing to lose.

Arthur’s mum committed a terrible act but I can’t believe I actually feel sorry for her, knowing what was happening to her little boy while she was locked up through her own actions.

Hopefully the Dad will never get out of prison too.

PPCD · 02/12/2021 18:44

@ThinWomansBrain

It's appalling - but two people were found guilty of his murder - why is your anger only directed at the woman?
This.
MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 02/12/2021 18:45

@Malibuismysecrethome

They probably never looked.
So what did they do? They were visiting because bruising had been witnessed on him, so surely the first thing they do is ask to see the child’s back? There no excuse for not doing that. None.
Bear65 · 02/12/2021 18:45

Little Arthur, rest in perfect peace. Absolutely harrowing, and like so many others on this thread, I'm so desperately sad for a little boy who was treated this way and cried out for someone to love him. Equally harrowing to know there are no doubt other children who are too living a hell right now, with their protectors doing anything but.

Arthur's mother's statement said his favourite book was "Snail and Whale" I will be reading that to my little girl tonight in Arthurs memory

Naughtynovembertree · 02/12/2021 18:45

Arthur's mum has released a moving statement. She said his super power was his smile.

Unfortunately I don't have think tustin understands what she has done and the extent of how hideous she is.
I hope tomorrow's sentencing backs up the gravity of her actions. I really do.

Naughtynovembertree · 02/12/2021 18:49

Definitely yes to team tustin.
It's the narrative, the story they told everyone and everyone else accepted it, so I guess they thought the police would and feel sorry for me them like tustin step dad "seemed too" like the hairdresser etc "seemed too".

He just looks so causal...

RubyTuesday70 · 02/12/2021 18:49

I had to turn the news over, I couldn't even listen to it. Far too many people were prepared to turn a blind eye to his very obvious suffering. I only hope that she'll get one hell of a welcoming committee in prison...............

MrsApplepants · 02/12/2021 18:49

Rest in peace dear sweet Arthur. I wish I could have saved you and loved you

beekeepershat · 02/12/2021 18:50

It's so awful.

Bless that poor little boy. RIP💙

Kenko · 02/12/2021 18:51

This is the first I’m hearing about this horrific murder. I hope they both die a slow painful death just as Arthur did. Reading his pitiful words in the end, ‘No one loves me’ broke my heart and I can’t stop sobbing.

Beatings, starvation and a slurry of salt forced down his throat. why? His only crime, a vulnerable loving, trusting 6yrs old.Sad.

Mufasa1118 · 02/12/2021 18:51

I think it's sad that I don't find this story in any way shocking. That is the life that I led.
But I don't find this story shocking. It's shocking in that yes it is awful, but it is not shocking in that it is unusual.
I have seen such horrific child abuse in my own life, when I was a child. Other than actual murder, I saw everything else that Emma Tustin did. My mother did it to my brother. She was horrific to him. Social services certainly didn't care.

And I have heard stories from friends, of absolute horror that they suffered in their childhoods. Like stories that are beyond the beyond.
One woman told me that her parents were in a paedophile ring and she was raped from an early age.
One other woman I know told me that her father killed her baby sister.
There is horrific child abuse out there on a huge scale. The government isn't doing anything to tackle it.

Rest in peace Arthur. May you inspire the next generation to care more about children

NotMaryWhitehouse · 02/12/2021 18:52

@Mrgrinch

That poor child my heart is hurting just thinking of what he went through
That's how I described it to my husband earlier. Without wishing to sound dramatic, it's almost too much to bear, if I dwell on it.

I'm not a violent person at all, but I have thought some pretty unpleasant things about those two 'people' today.

Naughtynovembertree · 02/12/2021 18:52
  • and this constant.. Picking him up rubbish. If someone said to me they were "picking up a child off the floor" it's because they have hurt themselves. She means constantly picking him up because he couldn't physically stand anymore Angry. It's the way she says it as though she expects people to understand and feel sorry for her, like "oh yes you poor thing.. It must have been exhausting for you to keep having to make him stand day after day, minutes after minutes in his endless sentence for unknown crimes doled out by you.. You pooor thing and even had the cheek to head but you!!"
JuneOsborne · 02/12/2021 18:54

@Mufasa1118 just wanted to send you some Flowers you've had it tough.

I've been deeply affected by this case. Poor, wee boy. Not even been buried, by all accounts. I hope he's at peace now. I'll be lighting a candle tonight.

Mufasa1118 · 02/12/2021 18:55

She does look so hard and cruel in that bodycam video.
