Finally. We can say it.

I've just utterly broken down for Arthur.

My heart is broken for poor Arthur. He had a grandma and an uncle that would have kept him safe but they weren't allowed? It's inexcusable! I wish I could turn back the clock and go rescue him. I keep wishing it was possible to turn back the clock. He won't be the only child this is happening to right now. We all have a responsibility to each other. If you notice something that's not right, go with your gut feeling, do something please. This boy was a victim of lockdown too.

lollipoprainbow · 02/12/2021 19:21

Let down by his mum, dad, stepmum, the police, social services didn't stand a chance.

icelolly12 · 02/12/2021 19:21

The thought of the evil pair walking past Arthur happily scoffing their ice creams and fish and chips while he was forced to stand alone in a corridor facing the wall for hours on end is just so upsetting. I can't imagine how the jury are coping after hearing everything and seeing the video evidence.

Gosh @Honkytonkyhonky that is terrible that after so many complaints nothing is being done. Angry Have you contacted the school to raise concerns?

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 02/12/2021 19:22

I feel incredibly lucky to have had the brilliant social worker we had when my DC were identified as being at risk from their father. She was fantastic and made sure I was doing everything I could, aided by her, to protect them. I wish every child at risk had her in their corner.

Sharletonz · 02/12/2021 19:23

The worst thing is, she's going to go into a prison and kept in isolation as other inmates would undoubtedly do extra time for her..

lollipoprainbow · 02/12/2021 19:24

I hope the hairdresser and her boyfriend also feel suitably guilty. They had Arthur in their home, 2 days in a row, including the day he died, being shouted at, deprived of food and drink and being made to face a wall for 6 hours each day and neither of them thought to ring 999 or social services. Absolute scum.

And what would social services and police have done ? Sweet FA !!

MyComputerGetsSadWithoutMe · 02/12/2021 19:24

@Bluntness100

I have to be honest, I sincerely hope both these people are horrifically tortured in prison every single day for the rest of their lives.

Every single day I want someone to feed them salt, starve them, make them stand for hours on end, beat them, abuse them, mock them, make them sleep on the cold floor, video them and let’s us all see. Every single day I want the other prisoners to do that to them, for the rest of their lives.

Just like they did every single day to that little boy. And I want them to live till a ripe old age in prison, taking that daily torture they inflicted, and then die a cold horrible lonely death as people video them and mock them like that little boy died.

It’s the only justice.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.
whitehorsesdonotlie · 02/12/2021 19:25

@Bagelsandbrie

Lockdown played a huge part in this. Too easy for social services, and Hughes and Tustin to make excuses.
Yes, but even with lockdown, how could these excuses for human beings act as they did? How could they bring themselves to treat a child so cruelly? Even if they didn't think they'd be found out, how could someone be so warped, so callous, so lacking in empathy? It's horrific.

I'd bring back hanging for them. No, hanging is too good for them. They should be tortured and terrified over months.

RIP Arthur 💐

ilovebrie8 · 02/12/2021 19:25

I’m sickened and so so sad, it’s almost incomprehensible this could happen and no one prevent it! Reminds of the baby P story many years ago...so badly let down...I hope to god they get their just deserts in prison....evil scum.

duckme · 02/12/2021 19:26

I couldn't watch that video and I'm ashamed to say I haven't been able to read any of the articles on the case either. The headlines alone have made my heart physically hurt and have haunted me.
I hadn't considered the effect this case would have on the jurors, stupid really when I'm unable to read snippets of the it in the newspaper. I hope they have strong and continued support because this will live with them for a very long time.

That poor, poor child. I can't think of any other words.

Mufasa1118 · 02/12/2021 19:26

Thank you Arthur for finally making me see that my child abuse was not my fault. I spent my life thinking that I was bad, awful. I remember saying the same thing when I was a child. I said "no one loves me".

This case finally got it through to me that it wasn't my fault. That I wasn't bad. That I was an innocent child, the same as Arthur was. And that the adults around me were abusers. Adults have a way of really convincing you that you are bad .

See the bodycam video of Emma. Even after she killed him, she is saying it is his fault, because he was so bad. Typical abuser . My mum used to abuse my brother over and over and tell me it was because he was so bad, until she actually convinced me for a while that he was bad. These child abusers all follow a similar pattern

Hopefully one good thing about this case is that it might help some adults who were abused as children, see that it was nothing to do with them. That they are worthy.

lollipoprainbow · 02/12/2021 19:27

*We need well funded public services, we haven't got these, so the vulnerable pay the price.

Only 30% of social workers feel their work load is manageable, most graduates join the profession and then leave.*

We also need tougher social workers not wishy washy graduates who won't say boo to a goose.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 02/12/2021 19:27

so very sad,
totally let down by this pair of sum

MrsLargeEmbodied · 02/12/2021 19:28

scum
scum

Cmsadvice · 02/12/2021 19:28

More talk of lessons being learned.

Emma Tustin is a murderer
claire20585 · 02/12/2021 19:28

Her eldest child was in my daughters class until he was taken off her. She is a nasty vile narcisst. My son at 3 years old very loudly asked me 'why is that horrible mommy treating her children like that?' After having her first two children removed from her care, she should never have been allowed near any other children.

icelolly12 · 02/12/2021 19:29

I always find it particularly terrifying when two twisted people manage to find each other and spur each other: Myra Hindley and Ian Bradey, Fred and Rosemary West, and now this evil twisted pair. I agree the death penalty is too good for them, they deserve long standing misery.

Cmsadvice · 02/12/2021 19:29

Pic didn't attach

Emma Tustin is a murderer
MobyDicksTinyCanoe · 02/12/2021 19:31

She is.

And I can't understand why the media are reporting that his family didn't listen to his distress when the reality is they repeatedly reported their concerns. They were ignored and threatened with being arrested at one point because they kept going to the house. This little boys death could absolutely have been prevented.

I think the saddest thing is at one point he was a caring dad, what the hell makes people switch like that?

HesterShaw1 · 02/12/2021 19:31

@lollipoprainbow

Let down by his mum, dad, stepmum, the police, social services didn't stand a chance.
I'd add the government and SAGE to that list.
PlacidPenelope · 02/12/2021 19:32

It speaks volumes that the jury have been excused from any jury service for the rest of their lives (I haven't seen the video and won't).

What they've seen and heard, especially that video, will haunt them for the rest of their days much like the Lesley Anne Downey tape from the Hindley and Brady haunted all those who heard it.

The Jury asked the Judge and it was granted that a minutes silence was held after they delivered their verdict, the Jury showed more care and compassion for Arthur with that gesture than those two despicable excuses for human beings had ever shown.

Poor, poor child failed so totally by everyone, including the Police and Social Services.

ArrrMeHearties · 02/12/2021 19:33

Makes me want to cry for that poor little boy and the pain and horror that he suffered at the hands of her and his dad. Rip Arthur may you be free of pain and suffering in Heaven

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 02/12/2021 19:33

After having her first two children removed from her care, she should never have been allowed near any other children.

Totally. Surely when social services were called they should have done a check on whoever he was living with and will have seen that she had children removed previously. The fact that she was able to parent her two younger children without any social services involvement after already having 2 removed is wrong IMO.

furbabymama87 · 02/12/2021 19:33

I've just watched that body cam video. I hope the little dog gets what she deserves. That poor little boy with those two monsters had no chance.

AnneElliott · 02/12/2021 19:34

Poor little boy. You do wonder how SS weren't concerned that a woman who apparently has 2 of her own kids taken off her was suitable to live with another one?

And citing funding cuts is a cop out. SS actually went round there to see him after they'd had reports of bruises - what would extra money have done since it seems the person who went round was either incompetent or couldn't be bothered to do their job properly? I know these people are manipulative but they don't strike me as the cleverest people in the world (they convicted themselves with their own footage for starters) - surely SS has come across people like them before?
