Finally. We can say it.

I've just utterly broken down for Arthur.

Again and again, "lessons will be learned". Will they?

I heard from my ex about some teenagers being abused on his side of the family. One of the children ran to a friend's house in his pyjamas and the friend's mum called the police. The police officers went round to the house and spike to the dad and stepmum, and then told the child it was a nice house and a nice family, why was he running away? Get back home.

Fluffymule · 02/12/2021 19:35

"Lesson Learnt" are the hollow meaningless words parroted by those who are never held truly accountable, or have to live with outcomes of systemic and individual failure personally.

The words are as empty and pathetic as "Thoughts and Prayers" which follow another school shooting at an American school.

Kids lives don't matter when there are careers, salaries, pensions, and reputations to protect.

Bagelsandbrie · 02/12/2021 19:35

@MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry

After having her first two children removed from her care, she should never have been allowed near any other children.

Totally. Surely when social services were called they should have done a check on whoever he was living with and will have seen that she had children removed previously. The fact that she was able to parent her two younger children without any social services involvement after already having 2 removed is wrong IMO.

Yes this.

What on earth were social services thinking?!!!

icelolly12 · 02/12/2021 19:35

Will a public inquiry be done, like with Grenfell Fire and the Manchester bombings because some serious lessons learned and changes are needed in social services.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 02/12/2021 19:36

i just wish he had run away

oakleaffy · 02/12/2021 19:36

Evil woman, and Evil man
How could a father put that ghastly beast over his dear little boy.
I wept and felt so upset all day after LBC played a recording of Arthur sobbing “No one loves me!” Over and over.
Social workers YET AGAIN let a vulnerable young child down.
Seems Social Workers care only for the feckless parents.
Not the needs of such vulnerable children

Rest in Peace, Arthur.
You are loved by all those who empathise with your suffering.
Even men were weeping.

Adsy1988 · 02/12/2021 19:39

I’m trying to think of a story that has affected me more than this one when I read it, and I really can’t think of one. In tears reading him saying no one loves me. Six years old and believing that no one loved him.

Utterly harrowing. I hope the pair of them never see daylight again and are tortured by the thought of their actions against a tiny child, who was unable to defend himself.

I hope heads roll for this, how could this be allowed to happen?

isadoradancing123 · 02/12/2021 19:40

But nothing changes, we have had Baby P. Maria Cardwell, Victoria Climbia and numerous others, why does it keep happening, there should be no excuses about police and social workers overworked and short of staff. Arthurs uncle was threatened by the police that he would be arrested for breaking lockdown if he went to check on him

Clymene · 02/12/2021 19:40

That poor little boy didn't stand a chance.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 02/12/2021 19:41

There are a very few truly evil people in this world- things happen to people and their reality become warped etc- but this woman is the epitome of evil! May every moment of her life forever more be torturous hell- May the inmates do their worse!

Rhannion · 02/12/2021 19:41

@Somethingsnappy

Sorry if someone has already said it, but Tustin's barrister has said that she has received substantial threats and violence already and minimal medication for her mental health. It's reported in the Coventry Telegraph live feed. Also had salt thrown at her.
Good! I hope she and he never know a minutes peace for the rest of their vile lives. Both as bad as each other. I only hope that her children have decent lives away from her.
wrappedupforchristmas · 02/12/2021 19:41

I hope they stick her in the same cell as Arthurs mother and she rips her to pieces.
She is the scum of the earth and should suffer as she made that little boy suffer.
Hopefully his so called father will get what he deserves as well

RIP little one

Dontgetyerknicksinatwist · 02/12/2021 19:43

Possibly the most heartbreaking case I’ve heard in a long time. This little boy was let down in a big way by people who were duty bound to protect him. He deserved to be protected and removed from these monsters - why wasn’t he?!??

I hope the pair of them suffer in prison for the rest of their days. How many other little ones are out there suffering in the same way?

Rhannion · 02/12/2021 19:44

Those phrases make my blood run cold because “ lessons are never learnt” and frankly thoughts and prayers are just empty words. I know social workers have a hard job but really where was their common sense? If she couldn’t care for her own children what chance did Arthur have ? It’s just ridiculous.
Bagelsandbrie · 02/12/2021 19:46

I don’t understand why we’re protecting the social workers in this case. Let’s see their faces, they should be prosecuted too and held accountable. I know their names were given in the live trial updates. There should be no hiding these people. They should be on trial as well. They have failed to do their job properly and their failure to intervene correctly cost Arthur his life.

motherofthelittlescreamingone · 02/12/2021 19:46

RIP Arthur.

I hope those monsters are tortured in prison.

Shocking performance by SS and the police.

I'd be devastated if I were his teacher. A report was made to SS by them, but I would always wonder if I could have done more. If a child in my class believed his father will kill him and witnessed him deteriorating physically, I'd be on the phone to SS all the time and would be begging to take him in myself.

HunkyPunk · 02/12/2021 19:46

I think the saddest thing is at one point he was a caring dad

Do you think he was? My feeling is that he was probably kept in check by his parents, with whom he and Arthur were living before they moved in with ET. He probably didn’t have to do much actual parenting.

Agree actually. I don’t always when people say that but with this case I agree!

I agree with you @HunkyPunk. He can’t ever have loved that boy. It can’t be possible to do what he did and let her do what she did to someone he ever cared for.
Parkingt111 · 02/12/2021 19:50

somebody mentioned that his teacher said he was fixated on his dad killing him, surely this would have been reported?
how was he allowed to carry on living with him
I am in utter shock and disbelief this could have happened
the poor poor child why not just give him up for adoption rather than torturing him

vickyp0llard · 02/12/2021 19:51

I've just read his mother's statement. It's heartbreaking. Imagine finding out someone has done that to your child and there's absolutely nothing you could do about it. The whole case is horrendous - the fact that several people reported the abuse, yet the police at the time were more concerned with covid regulations than a child being abused!

MrsFlump · 02/12/2021 19:51

That poor sweet innocent child, my heart breaks for him. I hope that evil pair are killed in prison in the most horrific way possible. After reading the bbc report I went into my own sons bedroom and gave him a loving hug and kiss which is what Arthur should have received. May he find love in the arms of God.

Bagelsandbrie · 02/12/2021 19:52

His mother’s statement is so moving. The way she talks about him loving food and loving having a story read to him. Things he was denied so cruelly.

icelolly12 · 02/12/2021 19:53

She was so manipulative and calculated. Report someone to social services for making their child stand and face a wall... well no doubt she would just spin it as something she learned from super nanny like in the video she kept going on about some time out step. Social services would probably prioritise visiting the child in the house with no food or the child who has reported being sexually abused by their parent or the child who is being exploited by older men etc etc.

The awful thing about this case is the psychological abuse and the tactics she used wouldn't be so apparent or easy to prove. She was very evil and calculated in her methods and psychological abuse is much harder to prove but equally as destructive as physical abuse.

mogkat · 02/12/2021 19:55

This story is so heartbreaking. I hope they rot in jail and are tortured themselves.
Absolute evil is not strong enough to describe this pair.
