DM is the absolute best when it comes to blacklisting, examples:

The new corner shop: have a display of brooms outside in a bin that "lowers the tone"

Sainsbury's: local store added a wing. Now the store is "too big", the stuff she wants is not in the new wing

Strictly: Tess

Radio 2: they replaced Lynne with Richie "no need, lowered the tone"

ITV: as children we were not allowed to watch "too common"

Grange Hill: Tricia Yates tutted

Allsorts1 · 13/11/2021 15:45

Yes we never set foot in the local wine bar because I once suggested they could sell wafers/crackers alongside their cheese & meats selection and he told me that it “wasn’t a deli” Grin

Tallesttiptoes · 13/11/2021 15:51

Clicked onto this thinking how petty, then immediately thought of several straight up Grin

A local gastro pub, who were so slow at taking our order that we missed the early bird window, when we pointed out we had booked for that time they refused to let us have the early bird offer. They have two AA rosettes now but I still won’t go back!

Timpsons because in 2008-9 there was a really sleazy customer assistant who would always try and flirt with me.

Local chippy because the woman shouted at me after I changed my mind during the order (twice but I was sleep deprived with a small baby!).

Tescos because they won’t let me bring the shopping pallets inside whereas Sainsburys will!

alwayswrighty · 13/11/2021 15:51

Vodafone
F&Bs

Both horrific customer service

Tallesttiptoes · 13/11/2021 15:52

Also a local garden centre who mis-sold me a buddleia 🤣

fedup078 · 13/11/2021 16:05

Miller Homes

For giving us a moving date for our part exchange which never happened . After dragging it out for months they told us they wouldn't be taking our house as part-ex

It wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't given us a date to move and even did the walk through of our 'new house' the week before. Oh and told me to make sure I got the internet sorted in advance so I ended up in a contract for internet for a house I didn't own

My house is still upside down with deconstructed furniture and packing boxes a year later

ZombiePara · 13/11/2021 16:18

The pub opposite where we used to live. Taken over and turned into a place selling overpriced, small portions, served on wooden boards not plates bistro.

To the PPs who commented British Heart Foundation, may I ask why?

RedHot22 · 13/11/2021 16:29

Every tile company that has ever existed
Bastards, the lot of them, with inadequate packaging policies. Always smashed on delivery

@MiddleParking the 1p or the hotel 😆

I can’t say much as I work in the same sector, I’ve never once said it out loud to anyone but I watch her closely when clients go in there! she’s the type of person everyone adores so it’s hard to stomach.

Starbucks
Scottish Power

gildalily · 13/11/2021 16:46

For me it's L'Oreal as they refused to sign some sort of animal testing agreement in the 1980's (I know how to hold a grudge); one local cafe as they're service was diabolical on two consecutive occasions of me going in there; the sainsbury's petrol station as the bloke on there is an absolute berk, which is a pain as the petrol is cheaper there; Travelodge because we stayed at the one at Park Royal once and they didn't have any high chairs. DS is 15 now so I maybe ought to let that one go.

Harrogate Spring Water.

AnneElliott · 13/11/2021 17:03

Oh I've got loads;

  • Lloyds bank because they wouldn't extend my overdraft as a student (I'd just my graduate job too). Now I'm a high earner I'm hoping they regret that!
  • Flora products for their nonsense about advertising on MN
  • Barclays because they were shit
-BT because they were awful over us moving the landline. They keep offering me cheap broadband and are astonished at how long I hold a grudge -NPower - charged a fortune for energy when we moved into this house and had shite customer service.

Totally forgot and how I don't know as battle is still on going
A British coach holiday firm , who advertised a certain hotel . Changed that hotel. Didn't inform any of us. We ended up staying in a hotel that was being used for housing refugees.
Bit of digging on the internet found that this certain hotel group has a contract with the home office since around about may, and the hotel should be closed to the public. I booked in July. The firm is still advertising trip will wrong hotel details
Asked for a refund
Still waiting . I'm apparently racist for complaining that I ended up in a hotel with blood on the pillow cases and someone's else's soap scum and beard shavings in the sink!

seething1234 · 13/11/2021 17:36

Team Hope shoebox appeal that they do in our primary school. I think my kids are the only ones who don’t bring in a shoebox full of tat to send to the other side of the world. I feel uncomfortable with the associations with Samaritan’s purse back in the day and it doesn’t make sense from an environmental point of view. It makes me so mad. And I’m also bitching about it at the school gate which probably makes me very unpopular

cornishmylovely · 13/11/2021 17:39

Starbucks

Tallesttiptoes I think you'll find this is a celebration of grudge holding with a sliding scale of pettiness to outright disbelief at the unbelievable ineptitude and sometimes cruelty companies and individuals can create.Welcome......

British Gas - they told us to ignore final demands that were coming to our flat instead of the one below by mistake (meter/address mix up) because for some inexplicable reason they couldn't stop them. Then sent debt collectors after us for them sporadically for the next 6 years.

Every single letting agent in Cheltenham - I've never heard anyone have a good word to say about any of them. Oh, except for Philip Pugh who are lovely. Thankfully I don't rent anymore so not too tricky to boycott!

SanFranBear · 13/11/2021 18:29

Evil Nestle!

dizzydizzydizzy · 13/11/2021 18:56

Ryanair - Michael O'Leary is not nice and his personality pervades the business. I once saw them charging 1kg excess luggage to a man because his case weighed 1kg but his wife's case was 1kg under the limit.

Sports Direct - similar reasons. My mum and dad used to know Mike Ashley when he was a teenager and they didn't like him even then.

A local cafe/bar - they served DD a macaroni cheese with no cheese in it. When I complained, they just shrugged.

iamio · 13/11/2021 19:57

Mine was Thomas cook, as they made me do a spelling test as part of a interview when I had told them I was dyslexic, and then terminated the interview when I said something!

hotmeatymilk · 13/11/2021 19:59

ITV: as children we were not allowed to watch "too common"
Haha, same! Home & Away was forbidden fruit
