Some very interesting traffic heading to Scotland for Cop 26.

PRES101 from Aerolinas Argentinas appears to be about to land at Prestwick.

Private jet LNX29KG also en route to Glasgow.

@Teaandakitkat

I am amazed that you can follow the US president's plane online. Surely that makes him a massive target. I know they try to disguise him and all, but it slightly blows my mind that we can just look online and with a bit of knowledge we can work out exactly where in the world he is.
There may well be other military fighter jets accompanying him which you can't see on any websites. On the ground is where he's at risk which is why I think they will helicopter him from wherever he's staying in the east over to Glasgow.

I also doubt he'll be staying at the Balmoral, Scotsman, Caledonian - or other central Edinburgh hotel. Far more likely they'll have booked out somewhere out of town where the helicopter can land right on the grass outside.

I don't think it makes much difference to him being a target. The technology available now means whoever wants to target the aircraft, combined with intel would know where it was anyway, without these free trackers.

Thanks! Got her!

(Are planes masculine or feminine?!)

Given his schedule is mostly public domain it’s kind of hard to disguise his movements…

As far as the flightradar tracking goes he’s pretty safe at 30 + thousand feet over most parts of the world - there’s more of a problem nearer the airports where TBH anyone with bad intent could tune in with a suitable radio and/or use binoculars to find AF1…..

That’s one reason as somebody mentioned upthread the police and no doubt others will be out in force on the ground….also AF1 is bound to have some interesting equipment onboard to make it a more difficult target than your average 747…

ReginaaPhalange · 01/11/2021 09:56

@meltingappointment that was me who said that - just relaying info from my SIL. She is American and her older brother works in the military. But then again, take it with a pinch of salt :)

AF1 isn't showing up on any other of the trackers online except the military one..

If pushed to use anything other than “it” (as in “what the f** is it doing now”) they were supposedly feminine when I was working but these days……
KingsleyShacklebolt · 01/11/2021 09:58

IAM9002 - Italian military - also heading for Glasgow just about to cross the Border.

It actually is. You will see t on ADSB exchange too.

ReginaaPhalange · 01/11/2021 09:59

@meltingappointment 👍🏻

PokemonGoGoGo · 01/11/2021 09:59

Despite taking very different routes, AF1 and SAM46 are now following the same path over the channel by the looks of it

I have only ever know them as 'she'

747 is known as Queen of the skies.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 01/11/2021 10:02

Grin @notimagain

The elegance of planes definitely makes me think of them as female

Queen of the Skies is lovely @meltingappointment

Interested to see if QID11 is going to do anything other than circle the sea above Norfolk when AF1 gets closer.

Sexnotgender · 01/11/2021 10:05

I expect we’ll see a few of these?

Wonder if the Hellenic Airforce flight just happens to be on the same route as AF1 or is accompanying as security.

I'm wondering the same about PIRATE11.. training flight or escort?
YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 01/11/2021 10:06

It’s a good 12,000 ft about Uncle Sam.

Thank you all for posting about this, I didn't know it existed.
Oddly strange to see Luftwaffe bound for Glasgow.

These guys are up most days so likely unconnected.

I think you can safely assume it’s random..the Hellenic Airforce aren’t going to be riding shotgun on AF1…
