Stolen the idea from
Another thread. I wanted a Mr Frosty, but never got one. Apparently my parents says I never asked at Christmas or birthdays. (I did have an A la cart kitchen though.)

I’d like to join. I asked for one every year but I never got one 😭

Lollypop701 · 21/10/2021 17:00

I got an etch a sketch… I’d asked for a magna doodle… was not happy but had to pretend 😂
I did get a cheap pack of 7 little dolls (probably from equivalent of pound shop back in the day) which I loved!

Best year was when brothers started work… proper DM’s and a hi-fi … thought I was in heaven!

Lollypop701 · 21/10/2021 17:00

Oh and never got a mr frosty!

Evenstar · 21/10/2021 17:01

I didn’t get a Mr Frosty either 🙁 but my parents usually bought very lovely presents, just not always what I asked for.

But you know what, the things I really wanted were a beautiful baby doll, a coach built Silver Cross dolls pram with frilly Broderie Anglaise bedding and a Georgian style dolls house and in the last few years now my children have grown up I have bought them all for myself.

itsgettingwierd · 21/10/2021 17:02

I was never allowed either.

It was hilarious looking back. Because my Laurent's always indulged us in some kind of shite we asked for but this was the one thing they wouldn't budge over 🤷‍♀️🤣

minipie · 21/10/2021 17:02

Oh I did have some My Little Ponies!

They made excellent water pistols if you pulled out their tails and filled them up from the resulting hole

(Can’t do it with the new style ones as the tail is attached)

ABitOfAShitShow · 21/10/2021 17:03

I NEVER GOT A MR FROSTY EITHER!

I was also not allowed to be a brownie even though all the girls in the street were and, as I lived at the bottom of a cul-de-sac, I had to watch them go out in their yellow jumpers.

You can tell I am over both of these things.

Biancadelrioisback · 21/10/2021 17:03

Always asked for it and never got it too

I also wanted one of those giant life sized dolls. My brother was always so mean to me and I just wanted a 'sister' to be my best friend at home.
Apparently my parents did buy me one once but thought it looked possessed so never gave it to me

Babybellblue · 21/10/2021 17:05

@KilledByWitches

I loved this. For some reason any children of any given play family were Susan and Billy.
That tree house was amazing. But it had a little lift on the side and the first time I used it, it broke. My two people got stuck inside for eternity Shock

All the girls on my street trooped down to the community centre twice a week to do disco dancing and went to competitions.

Then they'd come back and despair at the quality of my handstand walkover. I'd have handed over my Mr Frosty and my Al la carte trolley to join them.

Dollywilde · 21/10/2021 17:14

@YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake

I wanted a dream phone game. 3 years in a row is asked for one, never got it. Bought it for dd for her birthday last year after they rereleased it (just so I could finally play it) and it was rubbish lol
I wanted a Dream Phone too @YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake. With hindsight as a bit of a strident feminist these days I wouldn't want my daughter playing with it either but I remember the longing!!
Pearbear · 21/10/2021 17:18

I never got a Mr Frosty either. I’m not sure I’d have asked as I knew the answer would be no.

I had Cindy dolls not Barbie, my mum didn’t approve of Barbie. I had a jeep for her and my sister had the horse.

I really wanted a chemistry set the kind where you do little experiments but my parents refused to buy it saying they were for boys.

I wanted to do troupe because it looked fun. My Mums reasoning behind me not being allowed was all that thigh slapping caused 'St Vitus Dance'. To this day I don't know if she was serious in her belief, but as excuses go it was phenomenal.

octoegg · 21/10/2021 17:21

Oh I'd forgotten about Teddy Ruxpin! I never got the Clark's shoes with the key either. Still sad about that. But what I really wanted was the Polly Pocket pencil case. That, and a shell suit, but wasn't allowed because of the fire risk...

HelebethH · 21/10/2021 17:22

I still harbour a grudge against my Brown Owl 57 years after the church christmas raffle. I was desperate for a Tiny Tears doll and knew my parents could not afford one. The first prize was Tiny Tears. The Brownies and Cubs were in attendance and the vicar walked over to me and asked me to pick the first ticket. I picked out my own. Brown Owl snatched it away and said I couldn't pick my own prize and drew another one out. I was so upset and I think the vicar felt sorry for me and gave me a colouring book. Just to add iinsult to injury Tiny Tears went to the very spoilt Golden Girl. That was the last time I went to Brownies. I never did get a Tiny Tears doll .

Oh god shell suits 🙈 I had a purple and green monstrosity
Babybellblue · 21/10/2021 17:26

Not exactly a toy but did anyone have a Griffin Savers account with the Midland Bank? I still have my dictionary and pencil case.

DilysPhyllis · 21/10/2021 17:29

I had no Mr Frosty, Yellow Teapot, Tree house thingy, A La Carte kitchen, Barbie/Sindy house, Girls World or speak and spell and I wanted them all! I actually cant remember what I did have for Christmas as a child.

Redcrayons · 21/10/2021 17:34

I don’t even know what the yellow teapot is but I’m starting to feel like I missed out.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 21/10/2021 17:36

I also wanted a Mr. Frosty. But more than ANYTHING I wanted the My Little Pony hairdressing salon with a working shower. My parents got me the crap mini version instead and it wasn't the same Sad. My cousin had the working shower one and I coveted it something rotten.

I also wanted one of those giant Barbie heads where you could do their hair and makeup - never got one of those either. Still not over it.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/10/2021 17:38

My sister had the boot, and Sylvanians. How on Earth did they get away with such tiny pieces!

HumourReplacementTherapy · 21/10/2021 17:42

I had one!
I think I broke it Xmas day Sad
Ice was too hard and something snapped.
I didn't tell anyone and have carried that secret to this very day!

Toddlerteaplease · 21/10/2021 17:42

This is a tea pot house. I think it had little people.
