When you kind of hope that a new thread meanders on quietly because it means that life is being fairly stable...

What are ADs?

Here's the copy and paste job...

Definition of AD
^AD stands for anti dementor.
There are creatures in Harry Potter called dementors, who suck all hope and happiness from you and eventually take your soul. Way back at the start of the pandemic thread after thread was posted on by posters like this and anyone who'd dare question anything or disagree with anything (like putting cheese in your coffee) was bullied off these threads. And so any actual discussion disappeared and it became an echo chamber of misery.^

We are the antidote to that. We follow the rules, but not the "roolz" and we question and discuss with respect to each other. It's all very civil.

@MrsDeaconClaybourne

That story is local to me Bog we heard about it through our school at the time. But I've heard people talking about how it had happened in the past week as that's when it was reported and people only see the headline.
Which is misleading of the media as it makes it difficult to realise that it's the same story recurring.

The LocalLive reporting as though stories are local until you realise half-way through the story that it's a random part of the country. I know they're owned nationally and use a clickbait approach, but it again distorts perception about what is happening locally.

Poor kid. At least the second BBC story didn’t lie about underlying health conditions.

We are literally killing our kids by condemning them to early death in this country. Utterly heartbreaking to see it all around.

New post and hoping to bring some AD Christmas spirit Grin

How many people do we think have accidentally put orange juice or Coca Cola on their lft swab to avoid having to spend time with extended family over Christmas?

I’m sure there are more than a few ternagers for whom the thought of 10 days ‘isolating’ in their bedroom is a much more appealing prospect than having to listen to Aunt Emily go on about how well Cousin Edward is doing in school.

Xmas Grin

Am hiding mask and vaccine threads right and left now. Cowardly, I know, but I am just trying to make it through the days.

Worldgonecrazy · 24/12/2021 12:12

I’m convinced a lot of the vax threads are shill posts! Mumsnet is obviously the second biggest influencer in the country, and probably slightly more trusted than the BBC Grin

It's the way it's worded slanted, they're not able to disguise. But if you call them out the whole thread can be deleted, so why bother

Definitely 👍 Fully agree it's when they post the same wording across many threads, the manipulation is very light but the nudge is real 😉 I'm strangely fascinated watching people taking the carefully laid out bait.

Happy Christmas everyone! Someone was mightily pissed off that she had her cage cleaned and was given a bath! She doesn't mind being sprayed every day with warm water, but she knows she's having a bath when I put her in her special Clover pot. Ungrateful wench! She's just stamped through her dinner, flung her hay everywhere and more than likely she'll shit in her water bowl. Love her!

But it's her Christmas bath, she needs to be clean for Father Christmas! Mind you, she's had courgette 2 days in a row, should think herself lucky. She's putting herself to bed under her hay now, bit difficult to burrow under it as she's kicked it all over the place. I'll have to go and tidy her food up in a bit but at least she's not shit in her water bowl! Small mercies.
Curlygirl06 · 24/12/2021 18:29

Kicked about food and messy hay.

I'm beginning to think you could be right. They've even infested the data and stats thread (sob) and when I suggested it would be nice if they left one thread alone I got a flea in my ear.
Taswama · 24/12/2021 18:58

I thought it might have got a bit busier over here!

Am also appalled that parkruns are to be cancelled again in Wales and wfh banned. Utterly ridiculous and counterproductive.

Very very glad to not live there.

Really glad that my work is taking the view that you can come into the office if you have a reason, but they don't really care what the reason is.

I also hate the blaming of the unvaccinated for taking up NHS beds. A fair proportion of NHS beds are taken up with people who are there due to poor choices (diet, smoking, alcohol, lack of exercise, combinations of those) but we don't stigmatise them.

AlviarinAesSedai · 24/12/2021 23:25

I’m staying away from the covid section. Fed u as a triple vaxed person being told I’m selfish for not LFT every bloody second I leave the house.
I am obeying every law, just not the made up stuff!
The tortoise is gorgeous.
Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas all!

110APiccadilly · 25/12/2021 13:08

Merry Christmas! First one where Piccalilli has an idea what's going on, so fun is being had here. (Though she looked very surprised when some presents turned out to be for Mummy and Daddy, not her!)

NannyGythaOgg · 25/12/2021 13:28

Merry Christmas everyone.

Daughter tested positive last week - has had what would normally be considered a cold but has felt up to socialising so I am on my own.

Having the best part of Christmas Dinner - Roast tatties, sage and onion stuffing and gravy. Yum (but not very healthy)

NannyGythaOgg · 25/12/2021 13:29

*NOT felt up to socialising

Thanks, she is fine, just tired and fed up, and has discovered an unexpected beneficial side effect that is apparently common with Omicron - She has lost her appetite.
