If it really must be cheddar, then it has to be strong vintage stuff, with a fancy tomato or plum relish

Pumpernickel bread, unsalted butter and strong cheddar. Nothing more needed.

Brie, bacon and cranberry. Delicious.

Crusty bread, a lovely cheddar, real butter and a tangy chutney. Food of the Gods.

There’s something great about a cheese and crisp sandwich on cheap white bread.

Any cheese, any bread except goats or sheep and no no no rocket

@MeredithGreyishblue I'm a brit and never heard of them until I moved to the North East and I can confirm they are amazing.

Strong cheddar and red onion on soft white bread.

Proper baguette, good, cold butter, mature cheddar, good, tasty tomatoes. Maybe a smear of Mayo.

Grated cheddar and onion on white bread with a pack of salt and vinegar crisps and a can of Dr Pepper, please and thank you!

I had a cream cheese, bacon & coleslaw sandwich in 1997 at a sandwich shop in Broomhill in Sheffield and I've never been able to recreate it quite the same since!!

Sorry, but that is not actual food. Plastic cheese has it’s place, but it is not amongst fancy pants posho cheese snobbery.

(Last week FIL bought “cheesy food slices” for the nephews for the bbq…. even the packet didn’t claim it was cheese!)

Vintage cheddar, thyme & chilli jam on sourdough or rough seeded bread and then toasted. It’s a Lucy Lord “recipe” and it might be in her book Food for the Soul. It really does pimp up a toasted cheese sandwich!

Vintage cheddar (sharp enough to make your teeth jackknife) and homemade coleslaw (ie with a bit of mustard in the Mayo and slightly too much onion) in white pitta bread.

Dh makes cheese so he's constantly offended that my favourite cheese sandwich is the cheap cheese spread and salt and vinegar crisps.

Aside from the pure joy of the above!
I enjoy mozerella slices with rocket, roasted peppers and tomatoes.

I now have Life of Brian “blessed are the cheesemakers” in my head btw. (Of course, that was meant to be taken literally, and refers to any manufacturers of dairy products).
