For me it's baths. Never quite the experience I crave.

Going out for a meal . Usually awful

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 26/08/2021 19:33

Christmas for me too. Love the build up but the day is such a bloody let down....hate it as know January is coming!

Peanutsandchilli · 26/08/2021 19:35

Alcohol. Sometimes I feel like I need a drink, but my brain refuses to like the taste of anything. Especially wine, it's all vile.

FoodIsOnMyMind · 26/08/2021 19:36

Xmas Dinner not massively different to our Sunday roast just a few extras

Cinema.

Foxmylife · 26/08/2021 19:37

Cat beds! Pointless

DotDotDotDot · 26/08/2021 19:39

@SquirryTheSquirrel

Cat toys. You buy an expensive, elaborate toy for your cat - he sniffs it for two seconds and wanders off, never to look at it again. Five minutes later, you find him leaping round in manic excitement over an old wine cork that had rolled under the sofa.

Totally agree with PP re birthdays. I love other people’s but my own is always disappointing. Apart from my 30th, which was just the loveliest party, and all my friends and family came. I felt so loved and had the best time ever.

Afternoon tea is often disappointing. Should be so easy to get right but often just don’t - there’s no excuse for a dry sandwich or scone!!

diddl · 26/08/2021 19:52

Mars bars.

Saucery · 26/08/2021 19:54

Quiche Lorraine. They all taste horrible and of cheap ham.

Face masks/facials. I always imagine I’ll end up with smooth, pore free, plump and glowing skin, whereas I just look as wrinkled and splotchy as ever

AnonymousCheerleader · 26/08/2021 19:59

Lasagne from restaurants. It's never as good as homemade.

HandlebarLadyTash · 26/08/2021 20:00

KFC - in my head its crispy, juicy & full.of flavour
The 5 times I have had it it has been greedy, soggy & unpleasant

campista · 26/08/2021 20:02

M & S quiche Lorraine is better than the rest!

SkylarFerris · 26/08/2021 20:02

My dad.
Two birthdays in lockdown (more so than most disappointing birthdays)
Chips, either too skinny but not crispy, or not fat enough.

TSSDNCOP · 26/08/2021 20:10

Manhattan

AdaColeman · 26/08/2021 20:12

Bunches of sunflowers, somehow they never quite capture the delight of field after field of them in Provence. (Yes, I know, I know! )

Also fish & chips, they’re always soggy, when what we want is CRUNCH!

LouLou789 · 26/08/2021 20:14

Parties of almost any description

Christmas TV

Toast (never tastes as lovely as it smells)

Checking for Premium Bond prizes every month

The second cup of tea (never a patch on the first)
