Things that always disappoint

For me it's baths. Never quite the experience I crave.

Fruit teas. Smell amazing, tastes like cat pee
Oh yes, I’ve tried quite a few over the years even adding a little sugar or honey still🤢 A friend gave me some expensive Neals Yard of Convent Garden strawberry tea, devine fragrance tasted disgusting, used it as a potpourri until the scent disappeared🤣
Ddot · 27/08/2021 21:19

Try (Tea pigs) the mint tea is lovely, make a pot and heat up in microwave. Too expensive to waste a bag on one cup.

calvados · 27/08/2021 21:22

Yep haven’t had it in over 20 years… the rancid fishy oil smell makes me gag.

Ilovegardens · 27/08/2021 21:44

GP appointments. When you eventually get one you come away feeling like you've wasted their time and you still have no answers.

Suggests you should change your GP. It doesn’t feel like that with the good ones.

New Year's Eve nights out.

ParvaAvis · 27/08/2021 22:13

Doing crafts/quilting/card making/embroidery/needle felting etc: I have a picture in my minds eye about how wonderful my pieces will look, but they always look a bit shit really..

Eczema creams/ointments/treatments: absolutely none of them work, whether they’re from the GP or from anywhere else really.

Laundry whitener products: they don’t do what they say they’re going to do, whatsoever.

Dry shampoos: they never add any volume to my limp strands and they ultimately just make my head itch like mad...Then I endlessly worry that I’ve actually got nits, so I get my sister to check my head for them!

Imy06 · 27/08/2021 22:18

Yes!!! I don’t know how anyone likes them. I love the smell but they are incredibly disappointing. I went for a pedicure recently and they gave me a fruit tea list and one of them was described as ‘extraordinarily delicious, leaving your taste buds begging for mercy’ and I just had to give it a go in case they had improved in the probably ten years since I bothered with one - it tasted like someone had maybe mixed in one drop of cheap cordial in there it was horrible!

Weddings. Both you or own or as a guest. I go with high hopes and a new dress, the first few hours are great fun and then I just want a lie down and to stop talking to people, but I have to make it to midnight, like a fat Cinderella.

Relationships.

Flowers. I hate receiving them! The gift of death.

GoingOutOutNEVER · 27/08/2021 22:49

Do my hair at home looks lovely, get to work and I look like a hedge dweller

ZzzMarchhare · 27/08/2021 22:54

Pear- either too hard or mush. I am sure I ate one at one point which was lush so I always want to eat them then yuk

ellyeth · 27/08/2021 23:04

"artisan" bread, in fact most things "artisan".

Maskless · 27/08/2021 23:17

Presents from people. Unless it's something I've chosen myself they are always something I don't want.

Winterwarrior · 27/08/2021 23:21

Cookbooks.

The photography is always amazing. Yes, this time I will fill my table with abundant, colourful dishes and surround myself with happy people who will be grateful for this feast. Just like the book.

Nope, I'll cook something straight from the freezer again for my family who will inhale it in 10 seconds flat and then just get on with their day.

I read every cookbook cover to cover when it arrives then it sits on the shelf for the next 10 years because the recipes are just a bit too fiddly, or have too many ingredients or have flavours that one person in the family doesn't like, or, or... so pizza it is again.

Roxy69 · 28/08/2021 00:48

Bacon, smells fab cooking but disappointing in taste.
Men, obviously.

MayorGundersonsDogRufus · 28/08/2021 00:53

Time off work. Never goes how I want it to and always goes too fast. Always feels like a swizz and I feel horribly disappointed.

josbd · 28/08/2021 01:01

West Ham Utd FC

Until last season, that is .....

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 28/08/2021 01:22

@TheWayTheLightFalls

Christmas / seasonal markets. Premium economy. Homemade lasagne/moussaka/shepherds’ pie - by the time it’s ready you’ve used every dish and utensil in the house, spent £8/portion and it still won’t taste as good as Cook/M&S.
What!? You need better recipes.
Darlingx · 28/08/2021 03:10

KitchenDancefloor

I have a theory on cookbooks that we only ever do about 3 recipes from the whole book anyway so its a waste or you attempt zero because the book was too ambitious ingredients too obscure to get hold of or too intimidating to even start with .

Ddot · 28/08/2021 04:08

Sleep!
Never can get enough 😭
At that age were I'm just too bloody hot
