"A colleague came round the office yesterday with a collection envelope for someone in another team who is retiring. I've only worked there two weeks and I've never met the person leaving. Colleague asked me if I wanted to donate. I said no politely, explaining I'm new and I don't know them. She said 'oh that's right, you wouldn't really have had anything to do with them would you' and moved on to the next person."

"My DH's friend is getting married next year and has just arranged a week-long stag do in Prague in March. We have one DC under two and I'm due to give birth to our second in February. DH told me last night he'd been invited on the stag do but declined because we'll be too busy with the new baby and elder DC. He's going to go out for a curry one night with the groom-to-be and a couple of other mates who can't make it instead."

Any more? Grin

My parents regularly provide free childcare for my young children. I'm single, and it's the only way I can work. My parents let them stay up later than I do, and buy them sweets. I don't mind at all. I'm just really grateful for the free childcare.

DH and I are getting divorced. I’m really sad about it but rebuilding my life. Bumped into MIL today who I’ve not seen for a couple of years. We went for a coffee and a catch up. Very pleasant.

"When we had our daughter we chose a name we really liked, and which is reasonably unusual. Three years later my friend also had a baby girl and chose the same name as us, even spelling it the same way. We all think it's lovely they have the same name. We can pass on personalised clothing so it doesn't go to waste, as well."

"What's a narcissist? I've never met one."

@00100001

My child was hanging upside down on a climbing frame and choked on their dairylea triangle.

I'm going to a supermarket I'm not familiar with. I will buy food that looks tasty and not bother with other people's recommendations because they might like different food to me.

I went for a romantic meal with my DH. There were five children at the table next to us. They were really well-behaved and the sound of their merry chatter provided a pleasant backdrop to our evening.

I've got a pregnancy test here, my eyesight is just fine so I can see for myself that it's a positive.

LemonCandle · 26/08/2021 16:12

I have an ailment. I therefore assume it must be either covid or pregnancy.

SquirryTheSquirrel · 26/08/2021 16:13

My friend popped over and I invited her in. She kept her shoes on. I didn't mind because I sometimes keep mine on indoors as well, and life's too short to worry about carpets.

BoredZelda · 26/08/2021 16:14

I’m bored, and I was going to tell you some made up story about someone doing something which sounds vaguely plausible and would keep you hanging on with updates of things that might happen and it would run to 2, no, 3 threads. But I thought better of it and I’m off out for a walk.

SquirryTheSquirrel · 26/08/2021 16:15

I've found out my husband is leaving me for another woman.

I don't mind, I was bored with him anyway.

FamBae · 26/08/2021 16:17

Our neighbours are having a new fence built, they have been very respectful of boundaries all along the length of the garden, however they have asked if they can attach the last post to the side of our house to keep it in a straight line, we said yes of course ... we really like our neighbours and it makes no difference whatsoever to our lives.

FourTeaFallOut · 26/08/2021 16:18

That is an excellent point, you've completely changed my mind.

SnarkyBag · 26/08/2021 16:19

I’m going to IKEA for a new desk. I only need a desk so that is all I will buy. I don’t need strangers on the internet to tell me what random shite I need from IKEA so I won’t start a thread asking

Anordinarymum · 26/08/2021 16:19

I read a load of rubbish on a thread on Mumsnet today but never mind I believe it all always

Libraryghost · 26/08/2021 16:19

I hate my new hair colour. It’s horrendous, I have booked back in the hairdressers to change it.

My aunt has died. We never really liked each other. My DM wants me to go to the funeral but it's a five hour journey. I have two small children. My DH says he will take the day off to look after the DC and I can go to the funeral.
Update: I went to the funeral and my DM was grateful for the support. I had a good chat with relatives I haven't seen for ages.

PricklesTheHedgehog · 26/08/2021 16:20

I recently thought I'd try Zoflora.

But the shop assistant said she had just sold the last bottle.

She said to come back next week.

Was she being a CF or AIBU?

Libraryghost · 26/08/2021 16:20

I had a row with my family. We made up and got over it.

cervixuser · 26/08/2021 16:23

my MIL telephoned today to ask if I could help her with some shopping. I explained that I was busy today but could do it tomorrow. She said that would be lovely and would I like to have lunch with her and I agreed that I would. She doesn't telephone her son (DH) to do this because she knows he works full time and I generally have more time during the day

VeryLongBeeeeep · 26/08/2021 16:27

"We recently moved into a new house. For the first few nights I kept hearing strange banging noises. I briefly thought it might be a ghost, but then I had a little chuckle at myself and decided it was probably just the pipes. The plumber came out last week, changed a few small parts and the noises have stopped now."

Someone was rude to me but I have quite healthy self-esteem so I moved on with my day, my life and soon forgot about it.

OatyLatte · 26/08/2021 16:28

DH has been invited out for a curry next week. He asked if I would mind him going, leaving me to look after our DC for the evening and deal with bedtime. I said OK.

Then I cleaned our loo with a toilet brush.

KateTheEighth · 26/08/2021 16:30

It's still only August so there's absolutely no need to discuss my Christmas plans
