It's the lady from the chutney threads. I read all her threads and kept up with her son being born and all the other things that happened and I often think of her and wonder if she's ok. He must be at least 8 by now

OP posts:

And also FellatioNelson, who used to do the Poncetastic thread preparing for Christmas - I think she left a few years back and was living overseas.

Expat is who I was thinking of in Scotland - I remember lighting candles at the time.

@VeryLongBeeeeep

I often wonder what happened to one of the BESHes - I can't remember her name, but I think she was studying creative writing. Her name was Ead-something or Head-sonething, I think?

Headbanger? She stopped posting after a year or so I think, so I never found out whether she ever won her baybee. She had a fantastic posting style, such a witty turn of phrase - mind you, that was true of pretty much that whole sparky, larky, funny-in-the-face-of-utter-shit group of women.

Yes, Headbanger! She was fab and I'd love to know what happened to her. I hope she got to hang out in the PESH Deli eventually Smile

Dittany was a star. I too hope she's here in disguise.

rosegoldwatcher · 23/08/2021 15:33

Last spring there was a spate of posts from a woman who had moved across the country to live with her boyfriend and his son and daughter.
She was nauseatingly in thrall to this man, yet much of what she said about him led many posters to take against him.
She got people's backs up, something rotten, by her over-involvement in her partner's daughter's life, referring to the girl as DD (when she wasn't) and blanket refusal to accept any advice that did not tally with her (idealised) view of her relationship with DP.
Every new thread she started was pounced on by people who recognised her 'style' and air of self-righteousness. The comments were hilarious.

She changed her MN name, carried on posting the same sort of stuff and was recognized immediately.
I think that she left MN in a huff.

@NiceGerbil

Dittany :)
Me too @NiceGerbil She changed the way I thought. I often think about her.
SwedishEdith · 23/08/2021 15:37

Oh, yes, I liked MaryZ. Always imagined her as like Maeve Binchy

EllieQ · 23/08/2021 15:38

@QuimReaper

I knew this would be about the Chutney poster before I clicked on it! Smile As a PP has said she popped up on one of these threads a few years ago (Lou something?) and reported that she and her son were well and happy.

A poster I often think about is a woman who had a really fucked-up family who kept loading her house with crap to the point she could hardly move, and had frightened the daylights out of her, creating a weird dynamic where she wasn't allowed to get rid of any of it. She couldn't even access her own bed without climbing in from the foot. It was a frustrating thread because I couldn't understand why she couldn't stand up to them but felt so sorry for her. I hope she got out from under them in the end.

Was that DaughterDrowningInJunk with the family who kept cramming her house with stuff? She seemed to be completely controlled by her mother who kept making her take clothes and furniture that she didn’t need.

I think she had moved to be near her family after she was divorced, but I don’t think she relied on them for money or childcare, so it was hard to understand why she couldn’t say no, or just get rid of the stuff given to her. I remember her saying she wasn’t allowed curtains in her house. Very sad.

halfhope · 23/08/2021 15:41

Glad to hear expatinscotland is okay. I remember biscuitsandbandages too and zombie, may they rest in peace.

I often wonder about Bonsoir who lived in Paris. I'd heard she was unwell and I hope she's okay.

longtompot · 23/08/2021 15:41

@ThePontiacBandit

GreatestShowman was it TwitterQueen? She had a large stomach and had been fobbed off and it turned out to be ovarian cancer.
This is one that stuck in my mind. I followed her thread for ages but then it fell off my watchlist. She had/has a great sense of humour. I hope she is ok.
halfhope · 23/08/2021 15:42

longtompot sadly twitterqueen died.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 23/08/2021 15:48

One that I remember is where Ops dsd had got pregnant at 14. She had decided she was keeping it and dsd and her dad(Ops husband) planned for op to look after it. Op had a younger child, preschool with her husband. Impossible situation for her.

AdditionalCharacter · 23/08/2021 15:50

There was a poster I think about from time to time, can't remember her name, something about socks and shoes. She was homeless and often charged her phone in random coffee shops and McDonalds. She got a flat and don't think she posted much after that. Hope she's doing well (and hoping she wasn't a troll)

MrsDevere as well, she came across as such a strong woman no matter what life through at her. The MN knitting /crochet group, Billie's Blankets , was named after her DD.

Camrette · 23/08/2021 15:51

@ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife

There was a poster years ago (2006/7?) who used to cook the most amazing 3 course dinners every night for her husband. Most days she would post what she was going to cook and I got great pleasure and often inspiration from reading it (although I could never be bothered to cook more than the one course). Can’t for the life of me recall her name.
ComeO’Veneer or something like that?
Dippydinosaurus · 23/08/2021 16:01

Someone posted about their child falling off a bunk bed and later updated to say they'd died. I hid the thread as I had a toddler and I still hope it was a troll. I can't imagine coming onto Mumsnet to update a thread if that had happened to me. This was a year, maybe two years ago. No idea what happened.

Also someone off the conception boards from around 5 years ago - they were trying artificial insemination. She was pregnant but lost it unfortunately and was going to try again. I then stopped reading the thread and can't find it now. Very witty and positive person.

Winterjoy · 23/08/2021 16:05

I think I know the one you mean and if so, the last I read was social services/family courts had agreed that the father was not to have any contact any longer

Thanks @disco123. I hope it's the same one and that her nightmare ended. All I can remember is that the username had Baby in it somewhere.

longtompot · 23/08/2021 16:29

@halfhope

longtompot sadly twitterqueen died.
I've just found her posts. So sad :( She was TwitterQueen1 so not sure if she is the same as TwitterQueen
AtillatheHun · 23/08/2021 16:38

I hope that Witchesandwizards is ok and that (a) her awful in laws didn’t see the thread and (b)!that she and her children got out and back to see her father

QuimReaper · 23/08/2021 16:59

@EllieQ Yes that sounds right, well-remembered! I agree, I couldn't understand it at all but that's probably why it stuck with me - goes to show that the most incomprehensible behaviours usually have deeply-entrenched histories. I wanted to go round there and confront her family for her.

Jerseygirl12 · 23/08/2021 17:01

I don’t know her name but the Sistine Chapel lady springs to mind.

AlmondDimension · 23/08/2021 17:05

Mrsdevere was lovely

Ghostspirit got a hard time I hope she is ok now

Hedgehog80 as well another one who got a hard time

MrsPsmalls · 23/08/2021 17:08

Oddsocks. Went to meet-ups and stayed with a MNer briefly and notoriously. Had to be asked to leave by the MNer's husband. Possibly not quite what we were led to believe.
balzamico · 23/08/2021 17:31

Where's Mrs devere now?
I also used to like Anyfucker but I think she left or got banned for upsetting people (she was pretty forthright)

The only I always remember was a poster with a teletubbies name (tinkywinky I think) who left her drunken dh, she had twins and I often wondered how she got on, it was several years ago.

I also wonder about mr Wardrobes and hope he's ok

PropertyFlipper · 23/08/2021 17:42

@Itsanothernamechange

One poster I sometimes wonder about is EatShitDerek. She used to post so regularly. Last I remember she was pregnant. This would be a far few years back though
Didn’t she die suddenly and a MNer rocked up to the funeral with a YABU floral wreath and shared photos all over the place? All very dramatic. Hmm
ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife · 23/08/2021 17:45

Camrette yes, that’s the one! I really miss her posts. I think there used to be a daily ‘what’s for dinner?’ thread in chat.
