It's the lady from the chutney threads. I read all her threads and kept up with her son being born and all the other things that happened and I often think of her and wonder if she's ok. He must be at least 8 by now

@bruffin that's a shame. This is the same one as I was wondering about. I hope she got the help she needs.

opaleyes2 · 25/08/2021 16:53

Bruffin

Shock you're one of a few people who have said that now. I'd have been interested to hear the other side of the story as the posts were very dramatic. Perhaps why I remembered them!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 25/08/2021 17:25

@BillinaTheChickenQueen - how disappointing! Grin
Although not really, it was generally followed by a slapped wrist.
10 years ago though Shock

everythingcrossed · 25/08/2021 18:23

@thatfuckingtent - yes! Is she OK? I spoke to her once and she seemed very down - I hope that she's feeling better and her life is a little less complicated.

ajandjjmum · 25/08/2021 18:40

Wasn't there a time we were all supposed to congregate in London, to save MN from Gina Ford? Or am I still not allowed to mention that name? Grin

BillinaTheChickenQueen · 25/08/2021 18:40

Such a long time.
We must be getting old.
I missed mitmoo but I remember the aftermath.

That’s a name you definitely shouldn’t mention. Some where on the internet alarm bells, sirens and klaxons are sounding.
endofthelinefinally · 25/08/2021 19:27

Does anyone remember the whole saga of the woman who was trying to escape from Tokyo? She kept name changing but all the names involved foxes. (Foxy Lady, madam reynard, i think were two of them)
It turned out she made a habit of doing this and she wasn't trapped or coerced in any way, just attention seeking. She was well known to the British embassy.

Tealwarrior · 25/08/2021 19:28

@Lanique

I was sad to only recently find out about BOF - she was such a warm, witty character and despite her popularity on MN still interacted with all the 'unknowns' such as me and treated everyone the same, royalty or not. Such a good egg.

I also wonder about Gglimpopo (sp?) and her family.

There was one poster who had terminal cancer and she was so young. She used to post on here about her fears of dying and it brought the reality of living with terminal illness and facing death home to me. I hope she's at peace now, wherever she is.

BOF was lovely and took the time to try and help me when I was diagnosed with OC. I don’t know how she managed to do it. There I was with my very early stage cancer and there she was with her end stage cancer yet she didn’t once say ‘oh do bugger off dear with your stage 1a.

She had my utmost respect and appreciation.

I miss her.

Lanique · 25/08/2021 21:11

@Tealwarrior Sad what a generous, kind soul.

I hope you're ok Thanks

BeautifulSofa · 25/08/2021 22:15

Hullygully
Pagwatch
Dittany
Scottishmummy

BeautifulSofa · 25/08/2021 22:16

Oh fuck what BoF?! Sad

BeautifulSofa · 25/08/2021 22:19

@SlightlyJaded

Yes to lots of these. I miss seeing names like Pagwatch, HullyGully, GetOrf, MrsDeVere, SolidGoldBrass, Dittany, Expat et al

But the ones that play on my mind most are Riven and Trazzletoes. For different reasons but both dealt a crappy hand.

Oh gosh. Are this lot not here any more. I joined ten ish years ago, stayed for the newborn wisdom and left after hacking-gate but have loitered around.

Who is the star troll, is she still around? Lots of S and B 'honesty' Grin

BeautifulSofa · 25/08/2021 22:21

Plenty of the old guard around who name changed frequently though I guess...

Brighterblighter · 25/08/2021 22:24

Water is best

I totally agree

Brighterblighter · 25/08/2021 22:24

Loved get orf...

Heruka · 25/08/2021 22:29

There was a thread where a lady was planning to escape an abusive relationship, had safe plans for herself and her kids but couldn’t take her dog/pets with her. MN swooped in and poster who took the dog posted a lovely, discreet update. I forget the names but it was something like ‘pethelp’ and ‘petsafe’. Most cockle warming.

Lorw · 25/08/2021 22:35

Not on this forum but on Netmums there was one poster (not sure if she’s still around on there) something about being blunt in the username I think but she used to upset a lot of people (although I thought she was fabulous to be honest just said it how it was and although seemed harsh to some she did have good advice) I always wonder if she’s on here too 😁

weebarra · 25/08/2021 22:36

BOF was amazing. I was first diagnosed around the same time and she was so very lovely to me. When I first joined, people like Hully, GetOrf, Stratters, Maryz were very active. Things were funnier then.

I kind of feel like that, but I'm pretty certain that it was just that I posted more back then, got more involved (might possibly have been a little too involved at times 😂). So it felt funnier because I was in on the jokes and spent so much time on here that I witnessed all the drama first hand rather than trying to piece it together afterwards. So it felt funnier, but there are probably posters who are having the best time ever right now, and will look back in 10 years time saying, "oh it was much better back then".

Fwiw I miss all the wolefs. That felt like peak MN to me.

CrimeJunkie01 · 27/08/2021 09:17

I just read the first three biscuitsandbandages threads. Was there a 4th?i can't find it. It's so sad

ajandjjmum · 27/08/2021 10:13

I remember when Biscuits was first admitted to hospital, she'd put a 'footner' on her feet the previous week, so was shedding skin all over the bedsheets - she found it embarrassing, we all thought it was hilarious.

We had a couple of PM exchanges - she seemed a genuinely lovely woman.

Why does my mind remember these things, but can't remember what I did yesterday?!!!
