UN climate change report

Climate change is already massive, unstoppable and hugely destructive.

We have to reduce the number of children we are having, reduce the amount of meat fish and dairy we eat, stop driving cars so unnecessarily, stop burning fossil fuel, convert to using renewable energy, stop sending rubbish to landfill, reduce reuse and recycle.

Otherwise the human race is finished. Its as simple as that.

And if someone like me, who is not a nature person and can't stand being immersed in nature, is sad at the destruction we cause as humans, I can only imagine how someone who is more connected to the earth and likes being immersed in it must feel! Must be even harder. The few aspects of nature I like and want to be around give me great sadness when I think they will be gone, probably cuz of us. And who are we? Humans are nothing special, sorry. Actually probably worse than many species, objectively. Humans are arrogant if they think they are the best. Perhaps Earth herself will knock us down cuz the Earth wants to rid herself of the cancer, virus that is humanity. I mean maybe Earth sent a virus as karma cuz that's what humans are to the Earth? Who knows. In the end we are at the mercy of nature. And some day the sun will die and maybe humans are in space by then and live, but if not, goodbye all humans. Species come and go. The extreme fear of death humans have is actually killing em faster, imo.

@LoveRoaig

Yes, cutting down on car traffic and encouraging cycling is the best way forward, I agree the government NEEDS to prioritise this

No I don't agree with this AT ALL.

It will be women who will, yet again, be unfairly affected by this. Cars allow women to move around freely, safely and independently. No way would I be cycling or taking the bus and walking a mile home in the dark from the bus stop on a night out nor would I want my dd doing this.

All that shrieking for reducing cars pisses me right off. Why? Because it will mean that more women are harmed by strangers and, as a consequence, restrict women's freedom of movement. It's dumb.

And obviously this isn't just a problem with nights out, which I personally can happily do without. What about night shift working NHS staff? Doctors, nurses, carers? Attending classes or sports activities, concerts, the theatre in the evening? So women will stuck at home loosing their independence, freedom and income? No way. Happy for men to stop using cars if they are not disabled. But women will be incredibly disadvantaged if they increase inner city parking fees, reduce parking opportunities etc.

It's really laughable. Look at China, 13 million bicycles in Beijing and yet China is THE biggest culprit in terms of emissions and global warming.
But China can do whatever they want, they have the money and the power. No point in fretting, what will be will be.

@LoveRoaig I keep saying this on these threads, telling everyone to just stop driving so much isn’t the answer, yes cut unnecessary journeys, encourage people to walk and cycle more in cities etc but I live and work rurally in community nursing covering a wide area, I live no where no schools, doctor or shops so I’m sorry but rely on my car. Outside of work I only
Use it at weekends to go out occasionally as I get my shopping delivered. I won’t be swapping to electric currently as I have no drive and have to park out on the street which is set back from my house so would only be able to charge by running cables out on to the street which is hazard and I am not convinced electric/battery is the answer

I’m 45, I’ll be dead before it happens so I’ve no skin in the game so why make the rest of my life miserable

I'm a bit speechless to be honest that you're so blinkered you can't see it's here already? It's happening all around you, wake up!

WinglessSonglessBird

I'm a complete nature immersed person and have been for 50 years, it's beyond heartbreaking tbh Sad
