thank fuck for that

Yeah, so great to stop women talking.

Turkeys voting for Christmas. Good luck.

😇

We've been deleting any posts that derail or break TGs, which we will continue to do. Can we draw a line under any derailing from now on, please? If you've any questions about a deletion, please do mail in.

Thanks, all.

PinkTonic · 07/08/2021 22:24

@Mrstwiddle

Not sure why my comment was deleted, basically agreeing with PinkTonic
I’m deleted as well. Aren’t we allowed to express perfectly mainstream views on here now? Objecting to the exploitation of women for reproductive labour is against talk guidelines?

Thanks Fiona.

Hopefully, people will quit the derailing now.

If anyone wants to talk about surrogacy, then start a new thread.

You mean shut up women on a parenting forming, looking out for women and children? Like I say, turkeys voting for Christmas.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 07/08/2021 22:28

btw I think the pouch he made was cute and I do like the cardigan too.

I hope he wins his second gold...could Google if he's done that already but phone is about to die.

I agree. I bet @ssd is really Hmm they started what they thought would be a nice thread for it to be full of deletions.

Bimblybomeyelash · 07/08/2021 22:30

a woman knits? she's a boring old grandma with no life so who cares

That’s not true though. I wear a lot of stuff knitted by my mum, and people are always expressing admiration for her skills.

Sparklingbrook · 07/08/2021 22:33

Although i don't see people knitting in RL our small town centre did get yarn bombed a few years ago. The post box had a hat and all the lamp posts had cosies. Grin I don't think it was done my elderly ladies.

Mrstwiddle · 07/08/2021 22:34

If some posters are saying how lovely he is, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to point out that actually, he’s done something which many people would find immoral.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 07/08/2021 22:36

Many people who knit and crochet, do so for charity- hats, cardigans, blankets for local hospitals. Tom is auctioning his garment for charity. Not only is it a skill and beneficial for mental health, it also benefits others.

I agree. Hopefully the thread can get back on track now. Smile

I agree. Also all the talk about loving his family, there’s been various stories that would suggest otherwise, don’t think they were denied either. Maybe only talk about his knitting if you don’t want people to comment when you mention family and children. Most threads end up discussing other things as well as the original topic. This is in chat, so people chat.

No one gets to dictate the way their thread goes, and many threads meander off the specifics. It’s really not unreasonable amongst all the fawning to mention something which many people find abhorrent.
Sparklingbrook · 07/08/2021 22:42

Mmm @AngryWhompingWillow we can but hope but it seems not...

Agree. A few posters on here are like a dog with a bone, and just can't stop rattling on with their opinions, that are nothing to do with original post, even though MN have come on and asked people to stop derailing.

This thread needs taking down. It's being ruined.

FlatteredFool · 07/08/2021 22:46

Ah yes, the old shut up, women, and be nice.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 07/08/2021 22:46

Posters may not get to dictate how a thread goes but MNHQ do and they have asked politely to please stop derailing.

RockStarGuitar · 07/08/2021 22:49

As long as people stay within talk guidelines, I don’t think mumsnet should tell people what they can chat about in chat.

Exactly this. It's not about 'shut up women and BE NICE' It's about stop being so rude and obnoxious, and assuming you are entitled to derail someone else's thread with your own unpleasant agenda, and opinions (that NO-ONE asked for! And are NOTHING to do with the bloody thread!)

Mumsnet has already asked people to quit derailing the thread, and yet they are still doing it, because some people think they can do what the fuck they want. And to hell with everyone else.

TBF the chatting stopped as soon as the derail happened. And any deletions must have been because the posts broke TGs.

This. ^

I don't know why the toxic derailers couldn't just start their own thread about surrogacy, instead of piggy backing on this one and wrecking it.

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 07/08/2021 22:55

And any deletions must have been because the posts broke TGs.

That’s fair enough. But some posts on the surrogate topic are within talk guidelines and if people want to talk within them then they can. Others can ignore if they want to.

I thought you weren't going to be arguing further for fear of deletion?
