Where WOULD you go back to?

On the back of the other thread, which is really interesting, about places you wouldn't want to go back to, either because it was unpleasant or because you saw it all while there, I thought it would be interesting to know where people WOULD go back to.

I'll start:

New Zealand - beautiful, varied scenery around every corner. We only did parts of the South Island and I'd love to see more. Three and a half weeks were not enough!

Edinburgh - we do go back there regularly, it is a beautiful city with an amazing vibe.

Berlin - I loved it and wouldn't mind revisiting one day.

Norway - beautiful country, relaxed people.

Orkney - I went with my mum and sister, which made for a stressful visit, but I would love to go back.

Egypt - Dh took me on a Nile cruise for my 40th, and I would go again in a heartbeat.

Northumberland - so many wonderful places - Craster and the Craster seafood restaurant, Borders Books in Alnwick, Cragside House, the Northumberland coast, Lindisfarne, to name but a few.

I love York too - Betty’s Tearooms, York Minster, Banks’ music shop.

Venice, absolutely breathtaking and nearly cried when we first arrived despite it being grey and overcast Blush the food was naff but other than that, i loved it so much.
Barcelona, so stunning and gorgeous food. Will hopefully go back one day when dd is a lot older.
NYC, not a popular place on mumsnet from what ive seen previously but i adored the vibe so much and had a fab time walking around taking it all in.

Berlin – was there only 4 or 5 days and it wasn't long enough. Loved it. Could happily just hang out there for weeks or months.
Lisbon –lovely city, plus we didn't make it out any further than Cascais so I'd like to explore the coast and country from there a bit more.
Madrid –again, was there only a few days and it was a much more enjoyable place than I'd expected.
Japan, with lots more money (went years ago and it nearly bankrupted us)
Shetland – just made my heart sing.
India –such a vast and incredible place, so little time to see it all!
The US – haven't been since before 9/11 Shock, didn't want to go while Trump was there. Would love to see the Pacific Northwest and Austin in Texas.
Brittany –went with family as a teenager. Had an unhappy family life and so an unhappy holiday, but I still thought it was beautiful. Would love to revisit.

Ghent and Antwerp...incredible architecture and friendly, walkable cities.

Japan, especially Hakodate for its elegant Slopes (streets with spectacular views) and laid back coastal Kagoshima.

Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Denver, Nashville, Memphis and Chicago. Plus smalltown Tennessee and Mississippi.

Cagliari, Florence and Milan.

Cadiz, Segovia, Seville and Bilbao.

The North Devon coast, especially Appledore, Saunton and Braunton. Ludlow, and all of the Welsh Marches. The Trough of Bowland, the Vale of White Horse 🐎 and the edge of the Cotswolds around Shipston on Stour.

That's a start. 😃

Thank you for this thread.
Couldn't keep reading the other one

  • started to take places 'off' my bucket list.
So places I've loved: Benidorm - yes what a surprise, clean , fantastic sea and beach, lovey old building's and contrasting sky scrapers. Felt very safe.

Turkey - just smelt so lovely (sea air) and a lovely constant breeze.

The algarve Portugal - surprisingly green.

Lanzarote - just lovely - and only a short transfer from the air port.

Norfolk- very friendly people.

York and Norwich - both beautiful.

Amsterdam and Brugge - buildings amazing and be sure you go on the canals even if it's raining.

Oooh so many:

Western Australia (family there)
Borneo (mum from there)
South Africa (dad from there)
New Zealand
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Bali (been a few times, loved it)
Lindos, Rhodes (spent many a summer holiday there growing up)
New York (go on the regular but COVID put paid). Might be going up in October though so fingers crossed.

Probably wouldn't bother again with Laos, or Cuba.

And of course London, because I've not been able to get back to the UK for 2 1/2 years to see my family.
