Where WOULD you go back to?

On the back of the other thread, which is really interesting, about places you wouldn't want to go back to, either because it was unpleasant or because you saw it all while there, I thought it would be interesting to know where people WOULD go back to.

I'll start:

New Zealand - beautiful, varied scenery around every corner. We only did parts of the South Island and I'd love to see more. Three and a half weeks were not enough!

Edinburgh - we do go back there regularly, it is a beautiful city with an amazing vibe.

Berlin - I loved it and wouldn't mind revisiting one day.

Basically everywhere I've ever been lol. Only 2 countries I've been to that i wouldn't go back to (but won't mention as it's not this the thread for it).

Top 2 that stood out were Italy and Japan... Very different obviously but stand out in their own ways.

Galicia in Northern Spain (so beautiful, such incredible food and culture, so cheap!)
Patagonia (most beautiful place I’ve ever been)
San Francisco
Lake Como
Galway

I've thought of a couple of others:

Cumbria - the Lake District or even better the Eden Valley. We go there most years. I know the Lakes can get crowded but we tend to steer away from the more 'twee' tourist traps where possible.

South West coast of Ireland - we stayed on the coast near Skibbereen, it was beautiful and how Cornwall probably was before the tourists and second home owners took over!

Paris
Crete

Corfu
Thailand
Got all these planned in for a return visit

Krakow - like Prague used to be before the stag/hen parties discovered it.

Interlaken, Switzerland - beautiful countryside, very peaceful.

Egypt - holidayed there every year with DH in the early 2000s and loved it. Relatively cheap, 100% reliable sun, amazing diving, great food and so much to explore. I would love to take my kids but just don’t feel that it’s safe enough yet.

Puerto Mogan, Gran Canaria - got a cheap deal and stayed in one of the fairly trashy resorts but took a half hour bus ride every day to this beautiful harbour - real character, lovely beach and great restaurants.

HeronLanyon · 23/07/2021 08:53

Maldives - went just before lockdown and was astonished. Completely more beautiful than I had thought and wonderful marine life etc.

In fact, pretty much everywhere I've been I've appreciated in one way or another, apart from a few English seaside towns.

FlowerArranger · 23/07/2021 09:03

Rome - it's called the Eternal City for a reason...

The Swiss and/or Austrian Alps. Nothing beats skiing, and nothing will definitely ever beat skiing in the Alps. (Disclaimer: haven't skied in France.)

I am so, so lucky to live in London, so no need to go back Wink

GintyMcGinty · 23/07/2021 09:05

Loads of places

Caribbean

I could write a very long list but that's my starters
