What Makes You Feel ‘Alive’ ?

I was looking at sparkles on the sea today, it just made me so happy.

What makes you feel alive? - it doesn’t matter how small.

@RadioSixMusicLover I used to worry what people would think seeing some woman singing her head off in the car, but now I couldn't care less. I get disappointed when it's too short a drive to get into it. Grin
They are surely jealous of my amazing singing and fabulous playlist.

YawningAngel · 22/07/2021 21:20

The smell of the earth after a long hot spell, when it finally rains.

00100001 · 22/07/2021 21:20

Riding my bike really fast down the hills and taking my feet off the pedals and free riding

Swimming in the sea

Lovely thread. This may actually be one that doesn’t end up in a row.... very refreshing... 😊 I’m really enjoying reading them, hopefully lots more will post their ‘thing’.

Outdoor swimming. I have arthritis so it's one of the few non weigh bearing exercises I can do where it doesn't make my joints ache and I can just appreciate stretching my limbs and feel my heart beat faster without discomfort too etc. Not the same in a loud chlorinated pool.

Before I developed arthritis, that bit when climbing a mountain when you just go over the crest and then you're at the top.

Looking at the stars on a warm night and gentle breeze.

WrongWayApricot · 22/07/2021 21:24

A windy autumnal night, nothing else like it for me

@ScrollingLeaves

Being inside in bed in the dark with the window open on a hot night with thunder, lightening and torrential rain.
Ooh yes

I absolutely love these replies. It’s those little things that just mean so much. They don’t cost much, if anything. Sometimes, if I’m feeling stressed I just think how colossal the Earth is and how what I’m worried about really doesn’t matter. And I always say; if it won’t matter in a year, don’t give it energy now.

I’m really trying to grasp the beauty of the world we’re in, what else can we do, but that.

The feeling of utter peace waking up to see falling snow and a different world of space and light with everything out side covered in snow and all sound muffled.

Now that made me remember the shock of the peace of the first days of lock down last year when there were no cars, few people, just the sound of birds. How lovely that was in its own right - the fear and deaths aside.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 22/07/2021 21:28

When I'm woken in the night by a full moon shining right onto my face, through a chink in my curtains. It feels like it's woken me up on purpose, and I love it.

thefirstmrsrochester · 22/07/2021 21:29

Driving through the Nevis mountain range.
Early morning in my garden barefoot in the morning dew, listening to the birds waking up.
Watching the sun set at Bowleaze Cove, Dorset.

eurochick · 22/07/2021 21:30

Good sex
Feeling the sun warm my skin
Hugs from my daughter

DH and I are always singing around the house. The neighbours must think we’re crazy! We’re both huge car singers too.

Stepping into the woods near our house. I’ve noticed that as soon as I am surrounded by trees I automatically take an extra deep breath.

So many of these are just about nature and the world we are in. We really need to look after our wonderful planet.

ScrollingLeaves · 22/07/2021 21:33

Swimming outdoors in a lake or other wild place in the rain. Your senses are thrillingly confused.

Endofether · 22/07/2021 21:35

Diving into the sea from my favourite rock

Skiing

Walking in the woods in the early morning with my dog

Horse riding

A massive orgasm !

Great views,
Stars
The wind
Rain on a car roof
Birdsong
My childrens laughter
Thunderstorms
A stormy sea
The sun on my face

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 22/07/2021 21:36

I love seeing people singing their head off in their car. I always think that for that moment they just look like they don’t have a care in the world.

Years ago my a friend of mine was stuck in traffic on a motorway and said she and the bloke next to her did almost a whole song together both listening to the same station, windows closed. Then the traffic moved and they just drove off, never to see each other again. 😂

Quirrelsotherface · 22/07/2021 21:38

An evening, brisk walk with my DDog in the Summer months. Listening to my own tunes, walking in the countryside, slight fear when there's no-one around, gives me a bit of adrenaline. On my own, no DC's, DH, no demands.
