🎵 Every day I hear a different story
People sayin' that you’re no good for me
Saw your lover with another
And she’s making a fool of you, oh

🎵 If you love me baby, you'd deny it
But you laugh and tell me I should try it
Tell me I’m a baby, and I don't understand

Go Wham!

The UK government have launched a consultation regarding vaccine passports and are inviting our views on their proposals. If you feel strongly about it please read the proposal and complete their questionnaire below. It's open to 11/10/2021 (hope link works!).

Lostinacloud · 30/09/2021 10:18

Thanks munch, I have already completed that survey as I feel so strongly about it all. Some of the questions don’t leave you space to answer in a negative way though, it’s a choice between all or some and not all, some or none.

munchbunch12 · 30/09/2021 10:24

I agree @Lostinacloud and I don't know if they'll take much notice of the responses, but at least we've told them what we think!

ISaySteadyOn · 30/09/2021 12:43

@Lostinacloud, I am so sorry. That sounds horrendous. Flowers

I have filled out the consultation and I did not mince my words. I am horrified that this is even a possibility.

Lostinacloud · 30/09/2021 15:45

Thank you @ISaySteadyOn

I have found it all really tough and it’s made it very hard to embrace life here, which unfortunately has a knock on effect on the whole family. My DH has been a rock and I know he would give up everything to make sure I’m happy but moving back to the uk is extremely complicated right now so I am trying to re-find the positives of staying. All I can hope is that this can’t go on for much longer.

ISaySteadyOn · 30/09/2021 17:56

I am hoping for you and your family. Thanks for drawing my attention to the consultation.

MercyBooth · 30/09/2021 17:58

@Lostinacloud That is horrific. Im so sorry Flowers

Im waiting to take the Mini Pill which has to be taken on the first day of my period. Which has gone AWOL . Ive had one dose. At 48 i have no idea if its peri or meno or the vaccine thats done it. It could be either. I probably need a blood test. But you cant get an appointment to find out Because Covid.

Posted this Over There and apparently i have "issues"

ISaySteadyOn · 30/09/2021 18:09

Well, yes, you do have issues with a healthcare service that won't actually provide you with healthcare because you might be ill and they're scared of ill people Hmm

Flippancy aside, I am sorry, Mercy, that also sounds awful and I am impressed with your bravery in posting Over There. I have it hidden.

MercyBooth · 30/09/2021 19:05

@ISaySteadyOn Exactly Flowers

Thanks for the link. I enjoyed putting 'social media - other' as my source and then Mumsnet!

Really sorry to hear it is so bad in France Lostinacloud.

Worldgonecrazy · 01/10/2021 08:23

Fucking NHS bureaucracy. I am beyond angry right now.

Mum is in hospital with terminal illness. She is allowed one visitor per day on the hour for 45 minutes and this has to be booked via an online booking system or by phoning the ward directly. If you do phone the ward will tell you several times how inconvenient it is for you to arrange by phone and that you should use the online system, even though the online system is rubbish.

Dad was 3 minutes late for his slot to visit mum yesterday and the fucking bitch guarding the ward wouldn’t let him in. He is elderly, has no fight in him, so passively went and sat in the cafe for an hour until his new slot.

Three fucking minutes. For an elderly person that could be caused by anything, transport delays, being a slow Walker, needing an emergency loo stop.

Where the fuck is compassion in these situations? Three minutes late so you can’t come in to see your dying wife.

I didn’t think I could hate some NHS workers more than I do but hearing this from Dad broke me.

I’m going to calm down enough to write to PALS.

World that's awful. Your poor parents.

Worldgonecrazy · 01/10/2021 11:02

Actually it’s got worse. Dad doesn’t want me to make a fuss because he is worried it will mean the attitude of the nursing staff towards mum would be negatively affected.

Both mum and dad spent their entire working lives within the NHS so what is making them think that unless it is true?

I was wrong. I actually do hate some NHS staff even more than I did this morning.

MercyBooth · 01/10/2021 15:17

@Worldgonecrazy that is horrendous. As well as fucking ludicrous. Flowers Flowers

MercyBooth · 01/10/2021 15:25

Because of the above i have decided to delay the second vaccine until i know for sure whats going on with my body. I was told by the pharmacist that the Mini Pill takes seven days to work and to start it on the first day of next period. A period that hasnt turned up (its been five weeks since my last one) so how can i do as instructed. Im 48 and if they had bloody sterilised child free by choice me during the two fucking decades i asked for it i wouldnt be worrying about this now and would be taking the second vaccine. It could be the start of the menopause but i dont know that for sure. Because i cant get an appointment.

MercyBooth · 01/10/2021 15:32

I havent had sex so its not pregnancy.

Pleasenomoreglitter · 01/10/2021 17:03

How frustrating @MercyBooth . Do you definitely have to wait to start taking it? I only ask as I recently changed from combined to mini pill and was told by a consultant that I could start it any time.

Taswama · 01/10/2021 18:29

Flowers @Worldgonecrazy .

Lostinacloud · 01/10/2021 18:47

Just awful @Worldgonecrazy. I am ashamed of the way so many people have been treated at such difficult and upsetting times of their lives. It really does nothing but fuel my absolute contempt for all things covid because it really should not have trumped every other illness or been put ahead of billions of people’s freedoms and daily way of life. Covid is not an excuse for improper care and heartlessness. I hope you told a few people some home truths.

You’re yet another victim of the trump card of covid @MercyBooth, I hope you get answers as quickly as possible. Flowers

MercyBooth · 01/10/2021 21:13

Thanks Flowers Flowers I spoke to a pharmacist today and i can start taking it if period just isnt showing up but have to be careful for two weeks. Leaflet says it has to be day one of period though. Why are these choices for older women so crap.

@Worldgonecrazy My 85 year old mum is being refused a face to face appointment. They keep chucking pills at her despite not being able to talk to her on the phone. Shes almost deaf.
Its nothing to what you and yours are going through though. Thats really shit.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 02/10/2021 13:24

Worldgonecrazy the inhumanity that your dad was treated with is horrendous, I am so sorry. Lostinacloud it's awful what you guys are going through in France. MercyBooth sorry that you are being labelled harshly over there and hope you get some medical answers soon.
I had to go to page 4 to get this thread up I think! Hope everyone is OK, we are fine here. I even put the heating on today!

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 02/10/2021 16:33

@MercyBooth it's years since I took the mini pill but I thought the first day of period thing was to do with contraceptive effectiveness. So if you start it on the first day it works immediately otherwise you have to take it for a a number of days or weeks before you're protected. I'm not an expert but so don't take my word for it. But something to check.

MercyBooth · 02/10/2021 19:21

Ta. Flowers I explained the problem to a pharmacist and she told me i could start taking it now but to be careful for ten days to two weeks.
