🎵 Every day I hear a different story
People sayin' that you’re no good for me
Saw your lover with another
And she’s making a fool of you, oh

🎵 If you love me baby, you'd deny it
But you laugh and tell me I should try it
Tell me I’m a baby, and I don't understand

Go Wham!

Its crazy not having loos open.

@TabbyStar That is ridiculous. Last year a supermarket worker saw my then 84 year old mum struggling in one and advised her not to continue wearing it.

MercyBooth · 09/08/2021 01:07

@WouldBeGood Feels like its dragging on and on and on.

Worldgonecrazy · 09/08/2021 09:24

Very depressing weekend. Lots of masks and sunflower lanyards.

One of the local restaurants we like are full on dementoring and have the full distance/ bubble / temp / one way/ full masks at all time except when seated covid regulations and checks in place. Shame as I miss their nachos.

Hugs to everyone struggling. The weather definitely doesn’t help.

Worldgonecrazy · 09/08/2021 09:28

…… and our local Lidl had zero chocolate on the shelves on Saturday so I couldn’t munch my way to happiness.

ISaySteadyOn · 09/08/2021 10:04

A) sorry about the lack of chocolate B) were there people in masks wearing sunflower lanyards or were the maskless wearing lanyards so they didn't get shouted at? That's why I wear mine.

BogRollBOGOF · 09/08/2021 11:04

My lanyard was extensively used last week. Ireland is still being very obliging. It was like being in June 2020 for general openess with mask factor of October.
At least I didn't get any aggro.

Now I'm home, I need to start planning what we'll be doing over the next few weeks. My motivation gear is very rusty as it's been so long since it's been appealling to do much. The first week of the holiday, I wasn't doing much as I didn't want to risk the trip away.

Mask less and exempt. I wonder if anyone is actually getting shouted at or whether that is social manipulation. I have been showing my face and without lanyard since 19 July and no shouts, tuts or muttering within earshot. I am beginning to think it is social manipulation to demonstrate societal control and all about keeping people fearful. (Especially as I’m sure many of the exempt are those without social capital)

We spotted a masked person in the middle of an emptyish beach yesterday. It saddens me that people have become so scared.

Our GP surgery, hospital aren't taking temperature any more

BogRollBOGOF · 09/08/2021 14:28

I'm trying and failing at booking casual swimming slots. The problem is that we're not near enough to a decent swimming pool to be worth paying out for memberships.

God I miss just turning up casually for stuff!

@ISaySteadyOn

That's too bad. I used to love the theatre. Shame they consider their audience pre diseased.
Speaking in defence of theatres here, they're having a very difficult time as all their research seems to indicate that some audience members are v nervous and need reassurance to be woo-d back, and some are much less so. There are reports of different audience groups clashing in different theatres and poor front of house staff having to keep the peace. Some regional theatres are offering a mixture of socially distanced and non-socially distanced performances to cater for different audience groups, but the West End can't afford to lose the income from socially distanced auditoriums hence a general requirement for masks. They're also getting screwed by test & trace, with performances being cancelled at short notice every time an actor or stagehand is pinged. Its really difficult!
justasking111 · 09/08/2021 14:48

Trying to organise things for five grandchildren when you have to book a week in advance not knowing what the Welsh weather will do is pants. God I miss impromptu decisions

ISaySteadyOn · 09/08/2021 14:54

@Snailhaterz, I can appreciate their difficulties and I wish them well obviously. I just can't go to the theatre which makes me sad. That's all.

@justasking111, I too mourn the death of spontaneity.

WouldBeGood · 09/08/2021 15:08

Yeah, I’m just not going to go either. It would be expensive for me to go on my trip with the dcs, and no point as masks in theatres, galleries, and booking slots required. Hopeless.

People need to get a grip and let life go back to normal

justasking111 · 09/08/2021 17:26

Well with many women preferring to work from home that means less women in the workplace anyway. The few left will have a clear field 😂😂

justasking111 · 09/08/2021 17:27

I’ve started a bit of civil disobedience relating to masks. Note that I am not usually the civil disobedience type.

For context I live in Adelaide, South Australia, where there are currently no known Covid cases. Obviously it won’t stay this way forever but for now there is no Covid. I’ve been double jabbed and booked the first day it became available.

Out state government brought masks in at the last outbreak (which was fine) but now refuses to remove the mask mandate as they are worried about cases coming from over the border from other states. In my opinion it’s completely disproportionate yet for some reason people are happily wearing them everywhere. Even outside where they’re not mandated. This mandate applies to the whole state. Even remote towns. We have to wear masks if we’re outside watching school sports, when we enter a restaurant and if we’re getting out hair cut amongst other places.

I’m only wearing one where I have no choice. I won’t refuse to wear one where a worker would need to ask me to put one on (they have it hard enough having to wear a mask themselves all day) but I am trying to go maskless wherever I can.

ISaySteadyOn · 10/08/2021 09:15

I think you are very brave. More power to you 💪Flowers

WouldBeGood · 10/08/2021 09:17

I’m doing the same @bluetongue. Went well at the weekend.

And I see the bouncer is no longer on the door at Sainsbury’s so might even risk it there 😃

BogRollBOGOF · 10/08/2021 12:52

Isn't it crazy when walking into somewhere with your face on display counts as civil disobedience. Other than in places of extreme religious dictatorships...

I finally managed to book some swimming while there for the DCs lessons. We've got a few things booked for the second half of the week/ weekend. Tight tech restrictions have been put back on following the holiday relaxation and it's a drag re-training them to entertain themselves tech-free. Although pulling out the Lego to sort out normally piques their interest Grin
