🎵 Every day I hear a different story
People sayin' that you’re no good for me
Saw your lover with another
And she’s making a fool of you, oh

🎵 If you love me baby, you'd deny it
But you laugh and tell me I should try it
Tell me I’m a baby, and I don't understand

Go Wham!

This is it!!!
After 16 years we are done with loveliest ever infant school. no more crazy traffic & stressful parking.
I'm in the tub (a balmy 34°C water) and having waited for this moment for so long I'm enjoying celebrating the end of this school year & end the end of an era immensely.
I've almost finished a whole bottle of Asti..hic🤣

Cheers everyone, Happy Summer to you & yours!🥂🍾

@blobby10

Worldgonecrazy have you seen the headlines "Extreme weather kills 11"? No it didn't kill them - they drowned because they went swimming in dangerous places! They were accidents although it seems as though no one is allowed to die from an accident anymore - there always has to be A Reason Sad.
If we wanted to stop people drowning, maybe we should have kept pools open/ swimming lessons going. (I know that by itself won't save you if you enter a dangerous bit of water, but it's still an idea.)

Happy summer.
I give you an interesting carrot!

Grin The DC are hoping for another bum tomato this year Wink.
ISaySteadyOn · 21/07/2021 17:56

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba, congratulations on making it through. 🍾

Taswama · 21/07/2021 19:10

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba - Cheers to you! End of an era here too, although only 10 years. You either have a lot of kids or big gaps between!

DS2 got some lovely gifts from his awesome TA including a cuddly Coronavirus, which is a hit!

smallandimperfectlyformed · 21/07/2021 19:14

Well done ZingDramaQueenofSheeba that's a big milestone! None of your kids are tiny anymore! Just wondering, does your username have anything to do with the old CBeebies programme Zingzilla's? My oldest loved that show when she was tiny. Practically everyone on Mumsnet seemed to hate it but I thought it was alright!!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 21/07/2021 19:28

thank you!

yes, 7 kids, and it was either 1 or 2 years in any given year.
so weird that we are never going there again.
to quote that Notting Hill line "it's surreal, but nice"

@Taswama

congratulations to you as well!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 21/07/2021 19:28

I meant 1 or 2 kids in any given year

justasking111 · 21/07/2021 21:36

It's bitter sweet to see the back of school. I did 34 years 1984 to 2019 with a four year gap. Now back at the school gates with grandchildren 😂😂😂

rosettesforjill · 21/07/2021 21:38

@justasking111 delurking to say that test and trace phone from an 0300 number in England. I know this because my two year old tested positive on Sunday and I had a conversation with a very nice test and trace man who went on a long rant about how crap the government are Grin

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 21/07/2021 21:42

@smallandperfectlyformed

we loved the Zingzillas too!
but no, nothing to do with it.

my first user name had "Amazing" in it (ironically) and someone shortened it to Zing one day. I liked it so changed my name to use it!

MrsEWeatherwax · 21/07/2021 23:23

Gosh the weather is lovely isn’t it.
Been shopping and the local supermarket, none of the staff on manned tills were wearing masks. In fact the supermarket had run out of paper towels for cleaning the trolley! And nobody jumped out of my way as though I was contagious.
Been to the cinema again and no one was wearing mask either.
I don’t miss my children being at primary school at all. In fact the best bit of secondary was the not having anything to do with other parentsBlush. But I did make a really good friend so shouldn’t complain. Especially as I still see her now.

Thanks was reading some tales of scammers pretending to be track and trace despicable thing to do.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 21/07/2021 23:55

@MrsEWeatherwax

school parents....some are genuinely lovely but mainly meh and there are always the cliquey ones.

there was a picnic organised for y2 kids together with the junior school that most of them are going to in Sept (mine won't be).
As I was finally saying goodbye some of them were asking me, in disbelief :"awww, aren't you coming to the picnic?" and although I tried my best to be vague "thanks we have other plans" they pushed it so I ended up saying that it wasn't really my thing, I promised Zinglet an icecream and we are popping in to see his grandparents.

What I really wanted to say was that
a, I have a tub & a cold drink waiting, I don't care to sweat my tits off on a shadeless cricket pitch for hours, thanks
b, I couldn't care less for mindless small talk. I just don't care where everyone summers.
c, my child is going to a different school so I don't want to prolong saying goodbye and thus risking him truly realising that he's unlikely to see these kids again until secondary school.
so why should I upset him?
d, I literally don't care for goodbyes from you. off you fuck already.
you made no effort in the first year & half, when you could have, to get to know me or invite me anywhere so no faux sorrow and headtilt is required just because I now opt out from pointless chewing the fat.

I really wanted to say all that. just like that🤣 phew, feels good to vent here!

right, I must go to bed now because I absolutely do not have to wake up at any particular time tomorrow. 😁 yippee!

Worldgonecrazy · 22/07/2021 06:43

Went to local M&S food/garage last night for ice cream. It’s the first time I have left the house since masks no longer compulsory. No masks in sight apart from an nhs worker glaring at everyone. How do I know she was nhs? Because she was wearing her scrubs - minging!!! I was more than happy to glare back.

It was lovely to see smiley faces. Sadly no ice cream - the freezer was bare.

SirSamuelVimes · 22/07/2021 07:44

I did a train journey from Yorkshire to Newcastle and back yesterday. York station - nearly everyone wearing masks. Newcastle station - about 50/50. Really interesting. And it was hotter in York so it wasn't due to heat.

Taswama · 22/07/2021 07:56

Loving these updates from the frontline.

My report - Waitrose 98% mask wearing. M&S 60%, WHSmith 70%, , H&M 80% including staff behind tills.
I wonder if age profile in those shops, esp older staff and shoppers in M&S vs H&M makes a difference.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 22/07/2021 08:35

I have been to my local chemist, post office and sweet shop in the past couple of days. Perspex screens still up but only one man in the sweet shop wearing a mask. I was a bit surprised that the chemist staff weren't wearing masks at first but they will all have been vaccinated. I am still wearing mine, even though I hate them and am not convinced of their usefulness, mainly because I am so scared of being shamed for not wearing one! I am such a rule follower!
Did you all see the massive controversy on Twitter last night? Dr Katie Bramall-Steiner said that there were no paediatric ICU beds available in the country which of course generated panic. It was also untrue but it was re-tweeted 7,000 times before she issued a retraction and apology of sorts. She has also now protected her account so her twitter feed can't be seen by everyone.

WouldBeGood · 22/07/2021 08:46

Oh @smallandimperfectlyformed that must be why Alasdair Monroe tweeted a reassuring and sensible statement saying that’s pants. Well, he said it better 😃

He is such a lovely, sensible man! So much more compassionate and reasonable than some of the other doctors who have such a large following. In defence to Christina Pagel, who I have blocked even though I didn't follow her anyway due to just how many times she is retweeted, she actually challenged Dr Katie on this. I try not to wish people harm but what that Dr did yesterday cannot have been in good faith and unnecessarily panicked a lot of people. First do no harm indeed!
