Supermarket delivery substitutions

I ordered spelt bread. I have received a big bag of rabbit and guinea pig feed. I do not have a rabbit or a guinea pig. I now don't have any bread either.

What bizarre substitutions have you had?

Ordered 3x cucumbers, got 3x cress. What the fuck do I do with 3 pots of cress?

I tend to finalise my Tesco order the day before, having added to it during the week, and quite often at the point I go to finally check out it tells me that something on my list is unavailable, so I go back and order an alternative: 8 times out of 10 it gets substituted back to what I originally ordered. Bizarre.

At christmas, ordered the lindt cracker for my mums xmas box..... received some jacobs crackers.

ZombeaArthur that one I can explain, its something I have done a few times when I'm picking. It's usually because there is a gap where the item should be so the picker hits "item unavailable" on the handset and it jumps to the sub screen, the picker then looks around for a suitable alternative and spots the correct item which has been placed in the wrong place. Unfortunately its not possible to go back to the first screen so the original item gets subbed with itself. At this point I usually shrug and think this customer is going to think I'm mad but at least they have got what they want.

@AlfonsoTheMango I like the idea, but with 3 tubs of cress I'd need to invite the whole street.

That would take away some of the hurt from the missing tiger bread I guess....

Ordered quorn sausages got pork chops
Ordered quorn chicken pieces got raw prawns

I’ve never had a weird substitute but it does annoy me when I order something like water or toilet roll and then get told it wasn’t available and no substitute at all as if there is no water in the whole store

I read on here someone ordering formula and getting bleach as a substitute don’t know if it was true though

No cocoa powder and was offered a tuxedo cheesecake

My sil ordered a dog teddy for a new baby and they subbed dog poo bags. £10 worth. Also she'd had it delivered to the family so the new parents were v perplexed. You try to do a nice thing and you just get thwarted by algorithms.

This has really made me laugh!

We recently had 4 courgettes subbed for 6 packets of courgettes, so 18 courgettes in total.

Morrisons: we don't have any ordinary courgettes, here're twice as many courgettes.

I always choose the cheapest thing and then it's like a free upgrade when I get the fancy thing as a sub.

Weirdest sub was a frying pan for a cake tin

We do Morrison's ones & you can choose your next best substitution or say leave it out. Must admit, I was very tempted with this substitution suggestion...

Gluten free chicken nuggets where subbed with non gluten free. The women couldn’t see why I had a problem

6 satsumas replaced with 18 bags of oranges. We had soooo many oranges that we gave loads away to our whole street!

We had the opposite of that happen once, toddler-sized pull-ups for a weeks old baby!

I once got a 6 pack of strawberry Muller light yoghurts instead of cream cheese.
