Welcome @painauchocanot!

@Motherofmonsters so sorry to hear that, gutted for you. Hopefully the days will pass quickly. Will you be able to reschedule the party?

@PinkDaydreams we open windows in the morning before it gets too hot, then we use our fans and have tried other random stuff like putting ice cold water behind them - don't know if that was so effective really. Sometimes with DS we put a cooling element wrapped in a muslin, or a frozen muslin, at the end of his bed. Cools it down a tiny bit at least. Otherwise not much success.

Motherofmonsters · 21/07/2021 20:19

They've sent everyone home so I assume so, its just the school that have said not track and trace. Do we have to follow it if it's just the school that say now it's been handed back to track and trace

painauchocanot · 21/07/2021 20:24

Sadly both of mine still awake. Eldest probably should be dropping her only nap now, she doesn't sleep until gone 9 on the days she naps. And youngest is only 2 months so not yet going down early!

@Motherofmonsters sorry to hear that! Is your DS old enough to be disappointed about the party or will he not realise?

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 21/07/2021 20:48

Oh @Motherofmonsters that is awful. We had exact same thing in Jan, DD1 had one day of school then second lockdown announced and her school birthday party accordingly cancelled. Poor thing.

Last night was hell on wheels. DD1 leaving party today so made cookies and when I'd just finished DH yelled from upstairs to help.....DD2 had had a poo in her pull ups and tried to clean up whilst still in bed..... Jesus, the mess. Sheet, duvet, muslins, cotton blanket, everything coated, PJs, her hands and legs, everything.

Work is such a breeze by comparison 🤣

Chocolatetrifle · 21/07/2021 20:54

@Motherofmonsters, is your son definitely a close contact? Does he have day to day contact with the teacher? Poor you, what an awful situation.

Motherofmonsters · 21/07/2021 21:19

I guess so, they've shut the nursery and have sent a generic isolation period letter for him.

Chocolatetrifle · 21/07/2021 21:23

Oh no @Motherofmonsters, that is so so upsetting for you. Sending you support. Terrible timing when you've got things planned. Does DS understand about his party? Bloody covid! Gutted for you.

Motherofmonsters · 21/07/2021 21:35

I haven't told him yet, DH and I are having a disagreement as he just wants to go ahead any way as he thinks it's ridiculous. I've said we have to tell people as it's unfair to hide it. It looks like we're going to end up separating as we are just not going to be on the same page as each other. He is a very loving supportive guy but he is in conspiracy land and we've muddled through yes Dearing each other but it looks like this is going to be the thing that breaks us. He's not even here to talk to properly and I just feel so very lost with it

Chocolatetrifle · 21/07/2021 21:43

@Motherofmonsters that sounds really tough.
Firstly, just do what you need to do about isolating. It sounds like your DS does need to isolate. You could postpone his party.

You can still have his birthday at home he will be happy with all his presents and you can still get lots of nice food and a cake in.

You can then talk properly with DH when DS's birthday is over. Hard for you when he works away and you are holding the fort but you are doing really well.

Chocolatetrifle · 22/07/2021 13:29

How are you today @Motherofmonsters?

Hope everyone is well. It's another boing hot day isn't it? How is everyone managing to sleep? Last night was so stuffy, I'm sure DS1 was still awake at 2am and me too. He spent the night sniffing and tossing and turning.

Hope everyone is having a decent day.

Motherofmonsters · 22/07/2021 13:40

School have confirmed that he does not need to isolate so thats his birthday saved, not sure about my marriage as DH is not replying to me. He should be back tomorrow afternoon so we will see.

Motherofmonsters · 22/07/2021 13:41

Both kids were up and wide awake at 1am this morning so feeling very hot and tired today. I think it's going to cool down tomorrow so I'm kind of looking forward to that.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 22/07/2021 19:36

Oh @Motherofmonsters how is it now? The heat makes everything worse.

Just went in to check on twins and DS had taken his nappy off - after Poogate two nights ago, I flipped and really told him off. He is now in bed grumbling through the wall.

Chocolatetrifle · 22/07/2021 20:06

I can't bear this heat anymore, send rain, send cool weather, send me the cold!!!! I'll be happy with a wet day inside, no where to go trying to entertain them all day... Then again perhaps not!

@Motherofmonsters,. I'm glad you know where you are up to and your DS can have his party. I hope he enjoys his birthday.

Sure you and DH will sort things when he's back.
How are you now?

We had our seaside trip today, we changed it just to a day out rather than a couple of days as was concerned the heatwave would make it too much. We actually had a lovely day, beach, pier, amusements, fish and chips. dS1 was very good, dS2 got somewhat overheated I think and didn't actually enjoy the beach. Too much for him I think. Glad to be home and him asleep. Just need to settle DS1 then might go and sit in some ice or something.

Chocolatetrifle · 23/07/2021 08:08

I've just put one DS2'S nappy pants in with the washing by mistake, the mess is unbelievable...ugh.

Motherofmonsters · 23/07/2021 08:23

Oh no @chocolatetrifle I've done that before! The crystals get everywhere.

Got a day of party prep ahead of me. The kids are going down my mum's while I brave a shop for the food. Got to tidy the house and garden as it looks like a bomb has gone. Its been far to hot for cleaning! DH and I are back to talking again so that's good.

Chocolatetrifle · 23/07/2021 10:26

@Motherofmonsters, glad you and DH are sorted. Happy birthday to your DS and hope you get the party stuff sorted.

Everyone was up at 5.15 this morning. We've had a little trip to a museum, it had a really good little science play area for kids.

I've come to accept that DS2 is too big for his pram now ( he's almost 20 months), it was his brother's first, so feeling a bit emotional about it going into the loft!

Motherofmonsters · 23/07/2021 19:30

On the next installment of the birthday saga it turns out his TA wasn't positive after all. She had a positive lateral and then later had a negative PCR but said initially it was a PCR.

Hope the museum was good @chocolatetrifle.

Hope everyone has had a cooler day

prettygirlincrimsonrose · 23/07/2021 21:24

It's strange knowing it's the last time you're going to use something @Chocolatetrifle. We're definitely stopping at two and got a bit teary about DD growing out of the newborn stuff. Museum sounds great.

@Motherofmonsters hope your day was okay. Sounds like it's been a stressful few days but hopefully DS will enjoy his party.

Nursery called on Monday and we all had to pick up kids due to covid case. DS is isolating but hate having to say no to every request to go out. On the plus side today was actually a bearable temperature and actually had a decent day. Nothing particularly special but had a reasonable chance to play with DS while DD had a three hour nap (!) and got through the day without shouting (I wish that was normal and not an achievement though).

Camomila · 23/07/2021 21:48

Oh gosh what a rollercoaster motherofmonsters but good news DS can have his party.

I went back to the office for the first time in over a year today - it was nice and cool compared to my flat! Felt a bit self conscious though as I have hay fever and there is a really high pollen count atm.

DS1s last day of reception today. Feel very proud of my big boy Smile

squishymamma · 24/07/2021 18:23

Hi all! Sounds like a lot has happened since I last checked in.

Glad the birthday got to go ahead @Motherofmonsters, how was it?

@Chocolatetrifle a seaside trip sounds lovely, hope its been a bit cooler for you today.

@Camomila I'm really looking forward to getting back to the office! I hate working from home, we don't have a room to use as an office so we work at the dining table and then the flat just feels like it's a work space and not relaxing. Congrats to your DS!

DH and I have just gotten back to my in laws' cabin after a 2 day minibreak for my birthday, first time I've ever left DS overnight. It was amazing but of course I missed him! He's now decided he doesn't want to breastfeed any more, which has actually been quite sad, but it's nice to have a little break before number 2 comes. Had a lovely birthday exploring the Norwegian mountains and now ready to get back to life at home again. We'll travel back to Oslo tomorrow and then it's only a week and a bit until DS starts at his new nursery. How time flies...

Hope you all have a good night.

Motherofmonsters · 24/07/2021 19:22

DS has had a lovely day, lots of nice presents and fun. I'm absolutely shattered but I think every one had a lovely time. I over bought birthday cakes so will be putting a lot of weight on over the next couple days.

A mini break sounds fantastic @squishymama. Its sad when breastfeeding finishes, it'll be nice for you to have a little break though.

Motherofmonsters · 25/07/2021 12:21

How is everyone's Sunday going?

We're having a very lazy one, DS is playing with his new toys. Imaginex is his favourite he's played with it non stop since he opened it. We had to keep telling him to go outside and play yesterday (slightly smug that my presents were more fun than his party)

I have to wake DD up in a minute, she is having a mega nap and theres no way she will go to bed properly later. O really want to leave her there though.

Chocolatetrifle · 25/07/2021 12:50

@Camomila, ah, your DS has done well completing reception this year, an emotional achievement for you too!

@squishymamma, happy birthday! Sounds like you had a lovely break, so pleased for you.

@Motherofmonsters, glad you had a good time at DS's party. That's a bonus there is a lot of cake left! You will have to give me some toy recommendations as my DS1 will be 4 in October.

@prettygirlincrimsonrose, sorry to hear your DS is having to isolate too. So hard for them to understand what's going on. How many days does he have left to do?

We've had a quiet couple of days. Took the DS'S to a pub bear garden yesterday afternoon as stuck for where to go for a bit, it had a playground and was a lovely change.

Just had a playground visit this morning. I've got them both magic painting books and they are enjoying doing them in the garden. Also got Pop up Pirate after recommendation on here by @Motherofmonsters and they've enjoyed that too. Just cooking a roast dinner for later and DH may take them to his parents so I can have a little break later. DH's Nan died on Thursday just 5 days after turning 100, but at least she got her letter from the Queen!

Hope everyone has a lovely day.
