@Motherofmonsters, sorry to hear about your DS. I hope he feels better soon.

My DS2 was sick once last night, DS1 was sick 3 times in the night so no return to Preschool yet. I still have norovirus and feel like crying in the corner (I did a bit).

We are missing the big school open day. DH will go after work instead.
Have the other half of the Toucan box left, might see if we can do that afterwards.

BertieBotts · 05/10/2021 10:36

He is back today thank goodness but has jab appointment tomorrow so off again Hmm great timing!

I'm just waiting for my six week check up. But there's no parking so I'm going to have to walk miles with the car seat Sad

Motherofmonsters · 05/10/2021 13:25

Oh no @chocolatetrifle not more sickness for you! Hope they are feeling okay now and you're feeling better. I'm not surprised you had a cry.

That sounds like a pain @bertiebotts hope the check up goes okay.

It's very very whinny in my house and I don't cope with whinny very well. DS had a meltdown as he didn't like his wrap how I made it. DD is just attached to me

I've been horrible shouty mummy all day. Looking forward to tomorrow to start again. Hopefully I'll get some sleep

squishymamma · 05/10/2021 17:57

Sounds like a rough time all round, sorry to hear you're still feeling rubbish @Chocolatetrifle. Hope all DC feel better soon.

@Motherofmonsters I totally understand that frustration, fingers crossed you get some sleep.

How did the checkup go @BertieBotts?

I'm just swinging by, it's been an intense day but I got to try the different pools they have here including a heated outdoor one with a stunning view of the fjord. Feeling very lucky. DS slept well last night for DH so hoping we have the same luck tonight! I'm off to dinner now then an ominous "evening program", really I'd like to go to bed Grin

Hope everyone has a good night and gets some sleep.

Chocolatetrifle · 05/10/2021 17:59

I'm feeling much better now thankfully. @Motherofmonsters, try not to dwell. I find it really hard when they are ill and stuck in the house and whining and squabbling. Dare I say it, I really don't enjoy it at times.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for you too.

Aaah sounds amazing Smile

Am home with both DC, its DS1s turn to be ill this week - fever, headache, sore throat. He spent most of yesterday napping but is happily playing on the laptop this morning. Fingers crossed for a negative covid test as he'd hate being stuck in the flat for 14 days. (Plus we are meant to be going to Italy at half term!)

Motherofmonsters · 06/10/2021 11:06

Hope you get your negative @camomila, that will be annoying for your holiday if not.

I'm pretty sure I know why DD is out of sorts, noticed she's got some spots around her mouth. Hand, foot and mouth is looking likely, I hate this week.

Chocolatetrifle · 06/10/2021 11:41

Oh no, poor you @Camomila and you too @Motherofmonsters. Hope you get the negative test tomorrow Camomila and hope your DS1 gets well soon.

It is probably HFM isn't it MotherofMonsters? Mine had it two weeks ago, it's dreadful. The weird thing with that is it's not always just on the hands feet and mouth. Mine had it on the neck, legs and bum too.

I hope everyone's DC get better really soon. We've all had so much illness to put up with. Any Dr I see just says all the bugs are stronger this time around because of lack of mixing etc.

No news here and not up to doing much yet. Waiting to see if DS1 will be ok to return to preschool tomorrow.

Motherofmonsters · 06/10/2021 12:01

Does this look like it, it's only a couple spots so that's making wonder if it is or not. I guess more might come out tomorrow?

Motherofmonsters · 06/10/2021 12:02

Did they have the spots for long @chocolatetrifle? I hope your DS is allowed to go back tomorrow

Chocolatetrifle · 06/10/2021 15:13

@Motherofmonsters, my DS1 had similar around his mouth and on his bum cheeks like that, dS2 had similar to that on his neck he had a rash on his feet and hands which was more just of a red rash. It's supposed to look like a blister in the centre I think. They then had random ones on their legs.

I think they had spots for a week. Apparently you can still go to nursery with them. Depends on how they feel.

Chocolatetrifle · 06/10/2021 15:16

I found they did come out over a period of a few days. Normally a fever and a sore throat I think. I don't think mine had blisters in the mouth but it came on immediately from the tonsillitis.

Hope you are ok @Motherofmonsters.

Camomila · 06/10/2021 15:25

Negative came back today at lunchtime motherofmonsters Thank goodness! DS1 has hand foot and mouth too I think (told me his orange juice hurt today and there's a tiny few blisters in his mouth) DS2 must have bought it back from nursery without getting a fever/any blisters himself I guess. Just seemed a bit grumpy/not eating much for a few days but I thought it was teething.

It's funny/interesting how all the DC seem to get the same bug at the same time even though we're probably at the other end of the country from each other. Guess that's what people mean by there's something 'going around'.

Motherofmonsters · 06/10/2021 16:18

Looking likely then, that's annoying I was looking forward to some quiet on Friday. I can't send her in as they've said they have to many cases so are no longer allowing it. It's her birthday party on Sunday so hopefully DS doesn't get it as well.

Glad you got your negative @camomila

Chocolatetrifle · 07/10/2021 12:46

How is everyone feeling today? How are everyone's DC today with the illnesses.

I dare to say I think my DS1 is better. He made it to preschool but we had lots of tears again. He's lost weight after all these things illnesses, so I'm on a mission to feed him up and try to build him up again. He's very stubborn though when it comes to food.

We have released our works back into the garden from the worm world. Nothing else to report from here at the moment.

Motherofmonsters · 07/10/2021 13:51

DS is much the same but wanted to go to school and they haven't sent him back so I guess all okay. DD has few more spots but the ones she's got are more blistery now. She keeps touching them though.

Glad your DS1 has made it in as well @chocolatetrifle.

Nothing exciting happening here, DD had a morning bath and I've been to collect the food shop. We'll come home after school as DS will probably be tired

Motherofmonsters · 07/10/2021 19:50

I think DS just had a night terror, he fell asleep in the sofa while I put DD to bed when I disturbed him he 'woke' absolutely terrified making the most horrendous noises and gestures. Managed to get him quietened down and back asleep but it wasn't very pleasant.

Hope everyone is having a good evening

squishymamma · 07/10/2021 20:13

Evening all! I'm now home and my DS seems to have transformed into a real child while I've been gone, he's so different. Crazy how much they change at this age! Was so good to see him and DH, even though I did quite enjoy my working holiday Grin our future DS2 has been incredibly active recently and jabbing sharp edges into my stomach so I am very much looking forward to getting him out...only 9 weeks left Grin

Sorry to hear HFM is doing the rounds but good to hear everyone is slowly getting better. I hate night terrors @Motherofmonsters, especially when you can't really comfort them. At least you managed to get him back to sleep and if it is a night terror he won't remember it in the morning. Affects us more than them I think!

Chocolatetrifle · 08/10/2021 14:51

Hi everyone, how is everyone feeling today?

How are DD's spots @ MotherofMonsters? Night terrors are terrible. It's awful when they have a bad dream.

How is your DS @Camomila? Glad the test was negative for you. You can look forward to your holiday now.

Not long to go now for you @squishymamma. The 9 weeks will go really quickly I think. Glad your work trip went well. Your DH held the fort well.

dS2 was up about 4 times in the night. I've noticed he's cut through a canine. He seems to have 4 coming through at once. He keeps wanting milk in his bottle, still haven't weaned him off a bottle. My DS1 was awake at 5.30 asking to get up and then saying he didn't want to go to preschool. He did go and was ok. He fell asleep on the couch at 1 when he got home and is still asleep now! Figure he needs to catch up after the illness but no doubt will be up until 10 or something tonight which is way past my bedtime.

Hope everyone is well. I haven't done any activities today, just been pottering about the house. Hoping to go pumpkin picking in the morning all being well.

Camomila · 08/10/2021 21:09

DS1 is much better thanks @Chocolatetrifle though I think the DC have passed it on to me as I now have an annoying blister in my mouth (luckily just one!)

We're off to see PILs tomorrow which will be nice for the DC but tiring for us (longish car journey plus they like to eat out and later than we usually do at home)

BertieBotts · 08/10/2021 21:15

Check up was fine, thank you for asking. However now DS2 has got a stomach bug, bless him, the first time he's ever been sick except for as a tiny baby and he's so confused. It's going ask around nursery and they are asking people to keep their kids home if they have the option so that's all happening. At the same time this week DS1 (13) was having a bit of a nightmare with anxiety related behaviours at school and missed an entire week but fingers crossed all seems to be better now.

squishymamma · 08/10/2021 21:35

Evening!

Hope DS1 (and DS2 for that matter) sleep well for you tonight @Chocolatetrifle. Pumpkin picking sounds like fun, they don't have it here so we'll have to settle for supermarket bought.

Hope your mouth feels better soon @Camomila! I totally understand with the PIL thing, both sets of grandparents are like that here. My DM is coming in just over a week and she's asked us to book a table somewhere...told her we'd be booking it for 5pm Grin

@BertieBotts bless him, hope it passes soon! DS was the same here, didn't understand why he couldn't gulp down water as usual.

All good here, DS was at nursery today. He's been in a great mood and he went down to sleep easily, hasn't woken up since. I have my baby shower tomorrow, which my super excited friend is organising for both me and one of our other friends due her first in November. It's very sweet of her, and I'm looking forward to it even though I feel like a baby shower for my second is a bit meh Grin

My DM is devastated today because she had to have one of her 2 dogs put down, I video chatted her with DS to cheer her up and he was in good form giving her a good giggle. Haven't found out what happened yet because she can't talk about it without sobbing, but he was 11 so a ripe old age. This kind of thing really makes me hesitate when considering to buy our own...

Anyway, hope everyone has a good night!

BertieBotts · 08/10/2021 21:57

Oh no, losing a pet is so sad.

Motherofmonsters · 09/10/2021 11:03

Morning everyone, hope everyone is feeling better this morning. Dd slept last night and DS stayed at PILs so I'm feeling much better. I've made a start on tackling the house as it's run away with me.

Sorry about your mum's dog @squishymama, it's so sad when they go on.
