@squishymamma your DS is doing well with his talking!

Oh I've had a terrible night, both DS up all night crying. Both have temperatures and DS1 was complaining of earache. Both have been vomiting. Have been to the doctor yet again with them both and they are both back on antibiotics for tonsillitis, which has either not fully gone from the week before last or it is a fresh dose. Oh dear.

Losing the will to live.

Anyway, going to sit on the couch with both and watch Peppa Pig and try out the Tonies box hopefully in a bit.

Hope everyone is ok.

squishymamma · 30/09/2021 20:02

Evening all.

@BertieBotts my DH has started calling DS the wrong name already and our second isn't even here yet Grin glad to hear all is going well and that your DS2 is adjusting well.

@Chocolatetrifle what a rough time you've been having lately! Really hope this round of antibiotics gets rid of everything, and that you all have a better night's sleep tonight. Sending hugs and support.

We've had a really nice day actually, DS has been in a great mood (obviously with some tantrums because he wouldn't be 19 months otherwise) and we played for ages after he came home from nursery. He found taking the (clean) laundry in and out of the basket absolutely hilarious and was so excited about it he started spinning around Grin I said to DH that I really value days like this and he said "aren't most days like this?"...glad someone thinks so!!

Hope everyone manages to get some sleep tonight.

Camomila · 30/09/2021 22:32

Congratulations @BertieBotts Flowers

Sorry to hear about the tonsillitis @chocolatetrifle hopefully this lot of antibiotics will do the trick.

Have to report that the Tonies box is great. We've got a couple of Julia Donaldson stories so far but they love it.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Motherofmonsters · 01/10/2021 18:09

Today I learned that Sudocrem is really hard to wash off hands. DS covered his hands and arms in it luckily it was just on him....

Glad you like the Tonie box @chocolatetrifle. I'm hoping everyone is feeling a bit better today

Chocolatetrifle · 01/10/2021 18:41

@Motherofmonsters, sudacrem is a pain to get off , especially fingernails I've found. Boys are getting there thank you. Challenging day with both at home, gosh it's such hard work both at home all day. Had to send both round to mums for an hour this afternoon for a break. Love them so much obviously but some days they are just too much (feel awful saying that).

Looking forward to bedtime.

squishymamma · 01/10/2021 19:14

@Chocolatetrifle don't feel bad saying that, I'm sure we all know the feeling - I often feel like that with just one DS! Glad to hear the Tonies box was good.

@Motherofmonsters I hate washing off Sudocrem but it works wonders om DS so I tolerate it Grin also works well for chafing in case anyone was wondering...

Not much to report from today, tomorrow we have no plans and it's going to rain pretty much all day...will probably get our rain gear on and go for a wee walk at some point. DS loves water and rain so he'll be happy!

Anyone else have nice plans for the weekend?

Motherofmonsters · 01/10/2021 21:30

I've just totally lost it with DS and I feel so bad. DD had a long nap at nursery so didn't go to sleep until 8.30! Trying to do DS's bedtime and he's just messing about. Said to choose 3 books and he was just bringing me loads, not listening etc. Then wanted hugs which is fine but telling me off for not doing it right, he wanted to do the hugging? His Yoto player has a night light, he wanted dark blue and there's only one blue. He kept just asking for that colour then asking me what kind of blue it is and just going on and on. I shouted and had to just leave the room, it's gone very quiet up there and I feel awful. It's not his fault it's so late

Motherofmonsters · 02/10/2021 11:29

Last night nobody slept and it's pouring with rain today so I don't think we will be doing much.

Hopefully everyone else is having a more exciting day

Chocolatetrifle · 02/10/2021 12:01

@Motherofmonsters, how are you today? Try not to feel so bad, bedtimes can be very stressful, especially when you are tired and there are 100 million questions or something isn't right or it has to be something else. All the while you just want to say 'be quiet and go asleep'. To be honest I have actually said that.

It's pouring here too. My DS's are a mixture of hyper on antibiotics, whingy and clingy. By a miracle both are having a little sleep now. I'm actually glad to be honest as I need a breather. Struggling with both being ill again and not sleeping well and I'm just so tired I just want it to be bedtime but then not because there's still no peace at night!

Sorry for my moan fest.

This afternoon I am going to break out the Toucan craft box...which could go either way I guess.

Hope everyone is ok.

squishymamma · 02/10/2021 12:40

Sorry to hear you're both having a bit of a rough time @Motherofmonsters and @Chocolatetrifle. Sending support and hope you both get a chance to have a rest soon.

I can't complain compared to that but I was a grumpy mummy this morning because we'd forgotten to buy milk so I had to forego tea so DS could have his precious Weetabix Grin then I had to hike to the shop to buy more plus the weekly shop. It's raining here too, apparently will be doing so for a week - send help. We're bringing out all the toys and will go for a rainy walk in a bit. Currently distracting DS with a tape measure, he thinks it's great fun...

Hope you all have a good day.

Chocolatetrifle · 02/10/2021 13:06

@squishymamma, oh no, no morning cup of tea! Yes that's very annoying.

Playing with the tape measure just made me think of something simple we did here , ' toilet paper roads' - just let DC unravel lots of toilet roll, then let them whizz the toy cars all over the toilet paper rolls/roads.

Have got some magic painting books too as mentioned by @Camomila and they have gone down well.

BeHereNowx32 · 02/10/2021 21:23

Sorry to hear about the illnesses, bad nights and no morning cup of tea ( @squishymamma I really do mean that btw. I actually can’t cope without mine first thing). Being a mum is hard work! Hope everyone finds time to look after themselves.

I’ve just been trying to sort out toys today. But now I have random piles of things all over the house. So, it’s nowhere near over yet

squishymamma · 02/10/2021 21:32

We had quite a nice day in the end and the weather brightened up enough for us to go for a walk without being rained on!

Great idea with the toilet paper roads @Chocolatetrifle, I'll try that one.

Good luck with toy sorting @BeHereNowx32, it's on my insanely long list of things to do that I never look at...though today I managed to hem some curtains and get them up with DH's help, so that was a win.

We've all been a bit bleh today, not sick but drained - DH reckons it's the weather but my anxiety is sky high and I'm worried we're all getting sick. I'm on a work trip next week and I can't be dealing with illness!!

Chocolatetrifle · 03/10/2021 06:30

Morning everyone, how is everyone?

Last night I passed put with tiredness with DS1 in bed with me at about 8.30 pm. Still up about 5 times in the night but today is a new day and I'm going to be less of a miserable mum today fingers crossed.

No idea what we are going to.do, probably not much as trying to get DS1 fully fit for preschool tomorrow. He was still complaining about his throat and ears in the night.

I know what you mean about the toy sorting, they get moved from one place to another but at least they are on the move!

How is everyone feeling today?

squishymamma · 03/10/2021 19:54

Evening all, we've had a bit of a weird one today. DS was up loads in the night, including a stint between 3-5am - a combined effort from DH and I meant we finally got him back to sleep and he slept until 7.20 (funny how you remember the minutes Grin) and then had a 3 hour nap. Think we're still squarely in the sleep regression so just holding on to our hats.

DH and I have felt rubbish all day, queasy and out of sorts - not sure if it's some kind of food poisoning or something else. I'm off on a work trip tomorrow that requires flying, so hoping it's not a tummy bug that will get worse but time will tell...DS seems (touch wood) to be fine though. Feeling much better than I did this morning so that's positive! Lots of TV and games that require minimal input from us, like sitting pushing cars forwards and backwards between us.

Hope everyone had a good day - how is DS1 now, @Chocolatetrifle?

Chocolatetrifle · 04/10/2021 16:07

@squishymamma, how are you feeling today? Did you manage to get through your work trip? Hope you feel better.

I'm feeling sorry for myself as I have norovirus or similar since yesterday afternoon, DS1 also has it as well as his tonsillitis. Low point this morning when we were both sick at the same time. Sorry tmi.

Hopefully be better tomorrow. Peppa Pig has been on for approximately 8 hours yesterday and the same today. Luckily DH still working from home so can assist.

How is everyone doing today?

squishymamma · 04/10/2021 16:19

Oh no @Chocolatetrifle so sorry to hear that! Will it affect the antibiotics? Really hope you're all better soon, you've had a really rough time recently. Maybe you won't be sick again for a year Grin

I feel a lot better today, still not 100% but managed to get to the hotel no issues. Have a lovely room and a load of pools and a sauna right next to me Grin pretty full on days though, so we'll see how I get on...

DS was wide awake from 2-5am this morning, I have no idea what (if anything) we can do! Feeling really sorry for DH who is solo parenting until Thursday, hoping he has a better time of it.

BertieBotts · 04/10/2021 16:21

FFS I thought today was a bank holiday, because yesterday was a holiday in Germany but it was just a teacher training day at DS1's school. Didn't realise until 11.30 so too late to take DS2 to nursery! He's been ill for the last week so he's totally bored at home.

BertieBotts · 04/10/2021 16:22

But nursery tomorrow at least :o

Chocolatetrifle · 04/10/2021 16:44

I am completely fed up because it feels like anytime we do something different or go anywhere different, a week later one, or all of us is ill.

Chocolatetrifle · 04/10/2021 16:46

@BertieBotts, oh dear, easy mistake! Hope your adS2 is back at nursery tomorrow.

I'm hoping DS1 can get back to preschool on Wednesday. We are supposed to visit his big school tomorrow ( my old infant/primary), ready for next year.

Chocolatetrifle · 04/10/2021 16:48

@squishymamma, glad you made it there. Hope you get a full night's sleep there tonight.

Camomila · 04/10/2021 19:42

Glad you made @squishymamma - make the most of the lovely facilities.

I know the feeling! re getting ill all the time. There's both chicken pox and hand-foot and mouth doing the rounds at DS2s nursery Shock We are meant to be going to Italy in half term so I think I am going to take him out a week or two before hand.

We've had a nice day, took the morning off as annual leave as it was school harvest festival. - DS1 did a reading and we got to go watch in person! Smile (the nativity last year was online - a shame as DS1 was Joseph)
Had fake wagamamas for dinner - was really nice (DC just ate the rice Hmm )

Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep tonight.

Motherofmonsters · 05/10/2021 09:11

Morning, how is everyone?

DS was sick once this morning so he's home for 48hours however he is bounding around the house like a loon and it's pouring outside. Secretly annoyed I did the right thing instead of sending him in.

I might attempt some baking or structured activity this afternoon.
