Random, I know.

Anyone else just fancy the arse off celebrities but from years ago or even before you were born?

I have such a thing for Roland Orzabal of Tears for Fears, but only in their early 80's era, specifically in the "Head Over Heels" video which would have been released when I was about two.

Also George Peppard circa 1960's and David Cassidy in the 70's (might have read too many of my mums vintage Jackie annuals in my teens.)

I'm hoping it isn't just me!

Tom Selleck, Magnum P.I. Gorgeous.

My late Mom loved John Wayne. She was still swooning over him in her 80s.

I also vote for Robert Redford and Paul Newman. Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. What a great movie.

@Anystarinthesky

Rupert Brooke the WW1 poet.

I studied him at school.

I was just going to say Rupert Brooke!

@Firebird83

Christopher Plummer in SoM
remains one of the sexiest scenes ever.

I was reading this thread and couldn't believe it when I saw your post! I have a massive crush on King George VI especially from his Duke of York days! He was so handsome!

Well clearly you have excellent taste Grin. He was so handsome, and as even as he got older he looked great.
And he obviously adored his wife, I read the queen mother's biography and their love letters to eachother are so cute.

It bugs me that whenever he is portrayed in movies or tv, the actor never actually looks like him!

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 02/07/2021 10:35

As YY to Christopher Plummer in Sound of Music Smile.

ForestYeti · 02/07/2021 12:29

Marlon Brando

KillingMeDeftly · 02/07/2021 12:40

@ForestYeti it's extraordinary to think that in Streetcar he was only about 25. He just .

Marlon Brando, Steve McQueen, Patrick Stewart, Elvis Presley. Beautiful men.

rubydoobydoo · 02/07/2021 12:59

Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford in their younger days.

AutistGoth · 02/07/2021 13:17

Oh, if we're doing Victorian men too, Benjamin Disraeli! Proud of his Jewish roots, believed in votes for women, novelist as well as a prime minister - despite the racial hatred that was rife at the time. Adored his wife who he tragically lost to cancer, never remarried.

notawittyname1954 · 02/07/2021 13:26

Cary Grant and James Stewart. Loved Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly too. And Laurence Olivier in Wuthering Heights

Swingoutsistersledge2 · 02/07/2021 13:32

John Thaw

@anguauberwaldironfoundersson I also have a thing for Roland Orzabal from the Hurting/Songs from the Big Chair era. I'm a teeny weeny bit obsessed.

And Gene Kelly.

Justlovedogs · 02/07/2021 20:27

A few of mine...
James Garner - in The Great Escape
Patrick Swayze - who can ever forget Dirty Dancing
Omar Sharif - in anything. His eyes... Blush

I'm in good company!

It's a shame as I don't think he's not aged particularly well.

Another slightly deranged crush on Roland Orzabal here...but only up to the seeds of love era. That smile, that hair...once he starts straightening it it's not the same!

Also Alan Wilder of Depeche Mode...he is just perfection.

I was a baby during the era that I find these guys attractive. Literally cannot stop obsessing over them though!

ButNotTonight20 · 02/07/2021 20:45

In terms of him not ageing well I'm glad he no longer dyes his hair black. The long grey hair suits him but alas the sparkle is gone.
