Random, I know.

Anyone else just fancy the arse off celebrities but from years ago or even before you were born?

I have such a thing for Roland Orzabal of Tears for Fears, but only in their early 80's era, specifically in the "Head Over Heels" video which would have been released when I was about two.

Also George Peppard circa 1960's and David Cassidy in the 70's (might have read too many of my mums vintage Jackie annuals in my teens.)

I'm hoping it isn't just me!

I suddenly fancy Gerald Levert (80's/90's RnB singer). Also Billy Ocean.

James Dean, Robert Redford and Marlon Brando get special mentions

boobot1 · 01/07/2021 20:09

Rock Hudson
Richard marx 80s
Sebastian bach 80s

Crunchymum · 01/07/2021 20:19

Al Pacino Godfather and Godfather 2 (1972/4) so 8 or 6 years before I was born.

Also Harrison Ford as India Jones (Raiders Lost Ark and Temple of Doom)

Mummyratbag · 01/07/2021 20:43

Christopher Plumber, Richard Chamberlain, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, David Soul, John Schneider (Dukes of Hazard and to be honest not that much before my time!) A young Neil Diamond and Glen Frey... oh my that's quite a lot!

Yes, I regularly have a crush on guys who I later find out are dead or now really old.

Used to have a long standing thing for King George VI (especially in his Duke of York days), and he died about 30 years before I was born Blush.
Seemed like a lovely guy, adored his family and looked good in a suit.

Also have a big thing for a rock star from the 80's/90's...but not how he looks today (which I'm aware is totally ageist). He's actually aged pretty well, but the crazy rock and roll days are part of the fantasy I guess.

I feel like it's easier to fantasise about men from decades past because aside from a few pictures and films, you don't know too much about them, so can project a lot more on to them.

Celebrities these days tend to share every moment on twitter so it's not as intriguing, and you usually find out they are quite boring/ irritating which ruins it somewhat.

I looked up Alain Delon after seeing him mentioned a few times. Phwoarr!!

Also have always swooned over young Peter O’Toole.
John Hurt had a certain scraggy loveliness, too.

True. I've had crushes on 60s icons from th age of about 14. It's "safe" in a way. They can't reject you or treat you badly. In your imagination you just adore each other.

Don't worry about me, though. Despite this, I'm a (fairly) well adjusted adult, and married to a man who does adore me and I adore him too. Smile

Liverbird77 · 01/07/2021 21:46

Michael Nesmith. The second most perfect male face I have ever seen (the first belongs to someone in real life who I used to know).

AutistGoth · 01/07/2021 21:47

And it's definitely a matter of opinion because I found Dick Van Dyke's faux Cockney accent quite attractive! Blush

bigbeatmanifesto · 01/07/2021 21:50

Tom Selleck
Joe DiMaggio
James Dean
Mickey Hargitay

ahoyshipmates · 01/07/2021 21:53

Has anyone mentioned David Essex yet?

dottycat123 · 01/07/2021 21:54

Another vote for Robert Plant early 1970s, he was absolutely stunning. The images of him in tight jeans bring on the fanny gallops.

RiverSkater · 01/07/2021 21:56

Sean Connery.
