Good, why has it taken this long.

OP posts:

@Totallydefeated

Of course he needs to go, but it’s concerning that he was caught on a spy camera. Who put that there, and why? And how were they able to?

This needs to be answered, not buried under the salacious details.

Also - what is this meant to distract us from noticing?

Absolutely couldn't agree more.

The government have misdirected us at every given opportunity and I'm starting to look at things in a very different light.

Crunchymum · 26/06/2021 19:46

@VaguelyInteresting

It’s being reported now that he told his wife he was leaving her, hence leaving her out of the apology.

Poor woman.

What a prize cunt he is.
Livelovebehappy · 26/06/2021 19:47

Resigning wouldn’t be necessary had it just been about the affair. Awful though it is, affairs happen. All the time. But flouting the covid rules had made his position as health secretary untenable. No one would take the rules seriously. A bit like Kay Burley on Sky news. She’s back after being suspended when caught breaking the covid rules, but when I now see her coming down hard on the Government during interviews on the virus, I just think ‘hypocrite’. Hopefully the government will now re-group and continue doing what they’re doing with the highly successful rolled out vaccination program.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 26/06/2021 19:49

i have heard this gina womans name before, no doubt there was speculation
there was proof on the cctv, just waiting for the right moment.

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2021 19:49

I know two women who had affairs with other people. Both are now with the new partners and seem happy enough.
They admitted that their husbands were not what they seemed and what went on behind closed doors wasn't what was on show outside them. Nobody knows why people cheat or what goes on in a marriage. I'm not condoning what they did, but sometimes it's not all black and white either.
I hope the ones that have been cheated on can move on from this in time. It's very sad and messy and even worse all on social media too!
The new minister for health will have a big job on his hands too.
It's also sad he wasn't sacked and by resigning he has a bit of dignity left :( ( only a bit )
What a mess.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 26/06/2021 19:49

kay burley was far worse imo

SpindleWhorl · 26/06/2021 19:50

Are we all being filmed from sprinklers??

Dave20 · 26/06/2021 19:51

When I was in the armed forces , an officer had an affair with someone’s else wife.
He was out the next day.
I’m afraid in public service, standards have to be maintained, it’s part of being a government employee.

Ajl46 · 26/06/2021 19:53

Javid gets the gig, not Gove

youshouldbeplotting · 26/06/2021 19:53

If his poor wife is a mumsnetter, LTB, get a good lawyer and take him for every fucking penny he has. And whilst you're at it, sell your story to the highest bidder and make sure you take down the rest of 'em with him. (((hugs)))

Agree. You deserve better.

SpeakingFranglais · 26/06/2021 19:53

Of course he did, otherwise he would have found himself scrabbling around for work when no one will touch him in a few months like sCummings.

Dave20 · 26/06/2021 19:53

But people lost their jobs and even their homes due to the covid restrictions.
Hancock was taking the biscuit, god knows how long he was at it for. We’ll probably never know.
He’ll admit the bare minimum I’m sure.

Jenasaurus · 26/06/2021 19:56

ill just drop this here

Hancock resigns
AlecTrevelyan006 · 26/06/2021 19:58

several news sources reporting that Sajid Javid will be the new Health Secretary - I'm not a huge fan of his, but I think that he is at least competent.

Dave20 · 26/06/2021 19:58

What about the person who leaked the footage? Presumably they were working in a government building and have broken data protection laws?
I say that as civil servants have a strict code of conduct leaking information to the media is a big no no.

Takeachancey · 26/06/2021 19:58

Sajid Javid replacing Hancock

Peregrina · 26/06/2021 19:59

The silence from his colleagues had been very telling.

I bet they wished that they had kept their mouths shut yesterday, instead of sticking up for him. They now look a right bunch of fools (if that is possible.)

itsgettingwierd · 26/06/2021 20:00

@LaurieFairyCake

If Johnson had any sense he'd appoint Jeremy Hunt (not that I like him obviously)

But Johnson has NO sense...

I actually had that as a first thought.
Blossomtoes · 26/06/2021 20:00

@AbsolutelyPatsy

kay burley was far worse imo
Who elected her?
SheldonesqueDoesNotBelongHere · 26/06/2021 20:02

The silence from his colleagues had been very telling.

I suspect they are all keeping one hand over their mouths and the other on their tuppences and trying to stay below radar.

The crim creeper has no doubt got others in his sights.

MorganSeventh · 26/06/2021 20:02

There are lots of people working in government buildings who aren't civil servants. Specialist advisors aren't civil servants, for one, they're political appointments.
Indigopearl · 26/06/2021 20:02

His affair was exactly a year after he made this speech about Neil Ferguson

'Prof Ferguson is a very eminent and impressive scientist and the science that he has done has been an important part of what we’ve listened to. I think he took the right decision to resign. I think the social distancing rules are very important and people should follow them' Matt Hancock May 2020

Strange. Javid was sacked as Chancellor by Boris at the start of 2020 to be replaced by Sunak. Strange Boris didn't rate him back then but now giving him another equally important job, especially given the state of the NHS.
Livelovebehappy · 26/06/2021 20:04

Not a huge fan of Sajid Javid. But we’ll see how it goes. He’s had experience in the role previously, so guess the job as it stands needs someone to start the job running so that the current vaccination push doesn’t get de-railed.

Thewiseoneincognito · 26/06/2021 20:05

Which horror will replace him 👀
