Gross washing machine etiquette.. would you wash these?!

DP often has skid marks. Do you wash these?! I hate the thought of them in my washing machine and I have actually thrown some away at times. Am I on my own here?!

My first reaction is the same as yours OP that I wouldn't want it in the machine but then people use reusable baby nappies which would have poo on

BoredOfThisShit · 10/06/2021 12:39

Put his pants in on there own
With a stronger powder on a pre wash with the dettol laundry stuff too

BoredOfThisShit · 10/06/2021 12:41

@pinkypink24

I wash partners pants on there own with the dettol laundry liquid

But mine go in with my normal laundry

My DH is exactly the same. Unfortunately he has no idea how to wipe his ass. I blame his mum.
BaronessOfTheNorth · 10/06/2021 12:42

I had this problem with my husband and it turned out to be a haemorrhoid. He has got into a habit of rinsing them all now and I put them in with everything else.

It's not nice at all. I wouldn't expect anyone to touch my shit stained underwear (it's not FWIW), he's not a child.

ElderMillennial · 10/06/2021 12:43

But then he should scrape off the poo before putting them in the wash rather than expecting you to deal with it

NanaNorasNaughtyKnickers · 10/06/2021 12:43

@HeyDemonsItsYaGirl
To be fair, a lot of MNers are unable to use a toilet properly. Lots of "hoverers" who piss over the seat. It wasn't until I joined MN that I realised how the fuck women's toilets have urine on the seats.

What?! This is an outrageous slur against womankind! Never happened. BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit

I think you'll find that ladies toilets are pristine, pure, entirely sterile and have nothing but the fragrance of mountain dew and evening honeysuckle, and anyway nice ladies only go in there to wash their already-spotless hands and powder their noses. It's well known by constant repetition on Mumsnet that men's toilets are a public health hazzard, can be smelt from the next street, are knee deep in urine and plastered up the walls with horrid brown stains.

You've accidentally wandered into the men's.

Ozanj · 10/06/2021 12:47

I have rectal problems which mean I often get them. DH just quietly scrubs them and washes them. Similarly if he pees around the toilet seat I just clean it up. If you love someone surely this isn’t a big deal?

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 10/06/2021 12:51

I don't look at the inside of dh boxers but I wash them all in the 60 wash with towels and cloths! 🤣

MaBroon21 · 10/06/2021 12:54

@Ozanj

Between taking your pants off and putting them in the laundry basket isn’t there any possibility at all for you to rinse them before putting them in the basket. And can’t your husband check the loo before he flushes and puts the lid down?

I just can’t understand people who are to all intents not invalids not being able to do these things.

RickiTarr · 10/06/2021 12:55

@SomethingNastyInTheBallPool

That’s a bit mad. Washing machines are for washing dirty things in.
This.

Use dettol if you’re worried and clean the machine with a very hot empty wash if you need to.

bonbonours · 10/06/2021 12:56

Since I washed cloth nappies in mine, and now wash period pants, I can't see what the problem is. Washing machines make dirty things clean....

Nicolastuffedone · 10/06/2021 13:09

I would soak them first if I had the unenviable task of having to wash my husbands soiled underwear, thankfully that problem has never arisen. Nor I would ever expect him to ‘quietly scrub’ mine before washing them in the machine.

HopeValley · 10/06/2021 13:11

You would not get on well with cloth nappies OP.

Sparklingbrook · 10/06/2021 13:11

If you soak them first you then have pooey pants and a bowl/bucket of pooey water. What will happen to the bowl/bucket? Confused

Bubbles1st · 10/06/2021 13:17

Personally I don't even think to look inside my DP underwear, however I'm quite confident he is clean and maintains good bum hygiene.

Either way just wash them.

00100001 · 10/06/2021 13:19

why are people bothering with dettol in the wash, when there is perfectly adequate washing powder for such things? Confused

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 10/06/2021 13:19

Sorry, @pinkypink24, I have to ask — why do you change your knickers so many times a day? Seems unusual, unless you have continence problems.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 10/06/2021 13:19

I deal with a DS who still has accidents, so it wouldn't bother me. Presumably he puts them in the washing machine himself?

Quickchangeartiste · 10/06/2021 13:24

Napisan.
Designed for nappies and works for anyone who may have health issues -just add it to the wash.
Keep DH items separate if you feel better .

Bananalanacake · 10/06/2021 13:31

I washed my DC washable nappies in the same loads as DHs pants and towels. We are still alive.

scrivette · 10/06/2021 13:35

It will be fine to wash them in the machine, I sometimes put a capful of dettol in. (DC doesn't always manage to wipe completely).

Sometimes having piles can make this happen.

NanaNorasNaughtyKnickers · 10/06/2021 13:39

@pinkypink24

I do a knicker wash only & wash all my knickers & DP's boxers together on a 60 wash with the dettol laundry cleanser liquid in the fabric conditioner drawer. On the knicker wash I was knickers/boxers only - no other items. I like to change my knickers 2/3 times a day so the pile soon mounts up ... oh and we only buy dark undies so all can be done on one wash.

Waiting for the confusedconfusedconfused regarding my OTT washing pants routine lol.

You wash your underwear with his? Shock Only at 60? Revoltingly unhygienic! 🤮

You must never mix people's underwear or you will surely die of bubonic arse plague. And underwear must be washed at 120°C. We have special apparatus in our laundry room to increase the air pressure to make this possible.

pinkypink24 · 10/06/2021 13:44

@SomethingNastyInTheBallPool

I am quite a sweaty person. Very clean though ( shower morning & night ) And I like to wear clean non sweaty Knicks.

Does this answer your query & is there anything else you would like to know? 😂🤷‍♀️

pinkypink24 · 10/06/2021 13:47

@NanaNorasNaughtyKnickers

I know terrible isn't it. Feeling a little feverish today & I'm hoping it's not the bionic plague from yesterday's mixed pants wash.

I will hopefully return to the thread tomorrow to let you know if I survived it or not 😩🥵🤢🤮
