Gross washing machine etiquette.. would you wash these?!

DP often has skid marks. Do you wash these?! I hate the thought of them in my washing machine and I have actually thrown some away at times. Am I on my own here?!

CuriousaboutSamphire I work in construction and have never, ever seen a site where someone would have to shit their pants and leave them for their wife to clean up.

YelloYelloYello · 10/06/2021 18:10

Sometimes shit happens, literally!
Yes but would you then leave it for your OH to clean up @CuriousaboutSamphire ?

SometimesItCantBeHelped · 10/06/2021 18:30

I have IBS, bad external piles, and scarring from birth injuries. I sometimes have trouble getting completely clean, especially if I don’t have a sink right by the toilet. It really can’t be helped sometimes.

DH is understanding and is perfectly happy to do my washing alongside his.

Our washing always comes out clean … it’s what a washing machine is for…..

That's not what I said! The OP is about skid marks! I posted that DH sometimes has no easy access to a toilet and/or loo roll. That doesn't mean he shits in his pants.

I hope that made you feel better though!

@YelloYelloYello skid marks? Possibly. But if you are taking HeyDemons post at face value, don't be daft!

jellybeansforbreakfast · 10/06/2021 18:37

And sorry for the name change. I am swapping between phone and PC. I have no idea why my phone won't change my username. Maybe I'll just go back to Curious (except there is a valid reason I tried to change!).

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 10/06/2021 18:51

Okay, I'll rephrase. I've never been on a site where a grown man isn't able to wipe his own arse properly if he wants to.

jellybeansforbreakfast · 10/06/2021 18:56

Then be very grateful you haven't worked for some of the main contractors DH and his colleagues rely on for their comfort stations.

I'll rephrase it too if you like - at stupid o clock in the morning, having walked miles from whatever facilities there may be, he has sometimes had to take a shit in a bag, done his best with whatever tissues he has had to hand and carried the bag round with him until he could get back to whatever faciities there may have been. Utility belts and carabiners have a multitude of uses!

He doesn't do 'normal' construction on static sites.

user7891011 · 10/06/2021 19:12

A hot wash would sterilise them anyway, but more importantly wtf is wrong with him? He's walking round with a shitty arse?

I’ve lived and worked in rural areas of third world countries with no running water, and everybody still manages to clean their bum after a poo. Your DH doesn’t carry tissues, couldn’t use water, has literally no option but to wipe his bum with his own pants, on a semi-regular basis? Nope, not buying it. Once if you were caught short, maybe, but after a couple of times you would start carrying a packet of tissues in your pocket or something.
jellybeansforbreakfast · 10/06/2021 19:27

Oh! Whatever. It's no big deal. It happens every now and then. And if you read what I actually wrote you'd see that you too are making it up as you go along.

Something some MNers do a lot when this topic comes up. As though nobody ever, ever gets caught short!

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 10/06/2021 19:54

I can safely say I have never, in my adult life, left "skid marks" in underwear. And if I did I wouldn't let someone else clean them up because I'm not disgusting and I have respect for the people I live with.

Charliebradbury · 10/06/2021 20:06

People sometimes can't wipe properly due to health issues. Or if like me you have terrible ibs I can imagine it's easy to get caught short etc.
My ds is on treatment for bad constipation, he regularly has accidents. I just rinse off the worse bits the stick them on a hot wash.
I had a uni professor who was convinced that the modern obsession with cleanliness and sterile environments is what is going to kill us all. He might have had a point.
@Sparklingbrook Have you never soaked baby vests? The water etc gets flushed down the loo and the bucket gets scrubbed with Dettol.
No, two DC and never soaked anything, and certainly no messing about with scrubbing buckets. Confused
Baby vests went in the washing machine.
