@Workingfromhomenow - hello and welcome

We welcome home transcribers as this is an excellent place to come for support when faced with the dreaded feedback and help with queries. You are obviously aware not to post any personal identifiable information from which DICT8 can identify you.

wfh21 · 01/12/2021 12:15

Hi all, I have worked for DICT8 for a long time, and have followed the thread for a while. I have to say everything you lovely people have posted has been a pretty accurate description of the treatment I have received. It does seem to me that DICT8 are changing their attitude, albeit slowly, and maybe that is just the sign of the times. So those lucky people who have just joined are getting the benefit of these changes and are very lucky that they have not had to endure some of past behaviour of some of the staff at DICT8, so I understand why some on here feel a certain way. As to why we put up with it ? For me it has been because I have had to care for loved ones and this is the only work that fits around those commitments. Sometimes you just do not have a choice.

Workingfromhomenow · 01/12/2021 13:34

@Gally123Thank you, and yes I will remember not to put any personal details. I very nearly signed out with my first name! Although I don't think I would say anything on here that I wouldn't say to Dict8 themselves.

Just to share a personal hate - when dictators start by introducing themselves but unintelligibly. It's usually junior doctors so impossible to even try to Google them. I suppose they don't know that it's not the departmental secretary who will type the letter, but it really annoys me!

Gally123 · 01/12/2021 14:06

@wfh21 - well said. I am not sure that some people know that there was a change in office personnel, as far as I am aware, a few years ago. When I first joined DICT8 you could reply to the feedback and have an intelligent conversation, and they admitted if they had made a mistake, then suddenly it changed, and all replies to feedback got directed to she who must not be named and the official line was that they never made mistakes. It was generally seen that the office atmosphere in DICT8 changed, staff were frightened to speak out etc. I still keep in touch with some of the ladies from the hospital where I worked and one lady there used to work in the office in DICT8 in London and when there was office politics in the hospital she often threatened to go back, however I think less so in recent times. Now there are so many transcription companies DICT8 do need to pull their socks up and improve.

@Workingfromhomenow - I am more annoyed by those who mumble their letters and then when it gets to giving their names suddenly speak up loudly, and I think "what have you go to be so proud about?" It is more important that they give the patient details clearly than their own.

danblack87 · 01/12/2021 14:08

@workingfrom home: Hi, glad you are joining us. We get some very valuable information on here. Yes, we moan about certain things; but working on your own all day, all week, means you have no-one to download to. Downloading your thoughts is the best way to stay sane I feel!!!! Grin. I don't bother to google junior dr's ... to hard to find !! I just place a note: ?name Smile

danblack87 · 01/12/2021 14:10

Hi all, I have had a rotten month BUT some due to Dict8 others due to personal reasons. Looking after granddaughter, daughter's relationship breaking down, christmas shopping, internet going down +++ many other things. Oh, and a family member died 2 days okay. Jeez I am hoping for a Good December. I still prefer to work from home though ....

danblack87 · 01/12/2021 14:17

Family member passed away suddenly .... fit as a fiddle, THEN a sudden heart attack 'fatal'... can't get my head around it. SO, typing like mad to dispel my thoughts (it's tough going today) [cry]

Gally123 · 01/12/2021 14:38

@danblack87 I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It is amazing how often fit and healthy people die of sudden heart attacks. It's always hard this time of year. My gran died a few years ago, just after writing her Christmas cards. An aunt died on Christmas Eve, some time ago which was hard, the funeral was the following week - it was soooo cold.

Keep you chin up, type like mad - but remember to check it!

Workingfromhomenow · 01/12/2021 14:40

@danblack87
Thanks for the welcome.
So sorry for your loss. My brother died five years ago from a sudden heart attack, aged 60. At least when people have an illness and are expected to die it's not such a huge shock and there is time to say your goodbyes.
I do the same now with junior doctors. Sometimes I put a funny spelling and ?spelling though just to amuse myself.....
Take care

carosel2 · 01/12/2021 14:45

@danblack87 - thats really sad hope you okay its never a good time to lose anyone but stresses and pressures of christmas looming doesnt help either. Take care x

danblack87 · 01/12/2021 14:51

Thanks all for your messages. I can get through this, but it is hard. Daughter's father died when she was 7 and we got through that. NOw it is all just tough going right now. Sorry to be a downer but I literally no-one else to speak to . THank everyone for your support.

danblack87 · 01/12/2021 15:32

@workingfromhomenow: That is true. The sudden ones hit the hardest I find .. We knew three weeks before mum passed so we were able to get used to it. Daughter's father 42 diagnosed and we had two years to get used to it. For some reason this one has hit hardest; probably 'cos daughter in a bad place right now. I will plod on and @Gally123: course I will check my work I am not that far away from the fairies... bless you Smile

Cherryblossom114 · 01/12/2021 16:34

My Condolences @danblack87 and to all who have lost.
Has a dear friend who lost her only child last weekend pass away in his sleep in bed didnt turn up for work, bought a house was excited doing it up. Sent a photo to her of the garage door he painted the afternoon. Shes 75. Hes was 48. No known health issues was a police officer. I can only hope she will be ok. I can barely type a thing but trying to before the shock shuts down my brain.

Stay safe all and thanks for being here

wfh21 · 01/12/2021 17:12

@danblack87 condolences.

ShanJG · 01/12/2021 17:16

Just received an email from T-Pro about the 10% bonus if we hit one million characters in one month. They are rewarding with a bonus for us tying more which I think is good!

Gally123 · 01/12/2021 17:25

@ShanJG - it is good news, at the right time of the year. Works out a tidy sum over 12 months. Those typing always had the bonus and it looks like they are bringing those doing VR in line.

As my sister said, people doing the same job, should be paid the same rate, and that should include any incentives.

Gally123 · 01/12/2021 17:25

@ShanJG - I had to redo my invoice to take this into account!

ShanJG · 01/12/2021 18:10

That’s great! Little bit extra for Christmas for everyone who this applies to. It’s fab they are also letting people backdate it from October. Unfortunately I have only been with them from October and in the months of October/November each month I am only accumulating half of a million characters each month. It makes over a million with both months but I don’t think they pay for that lol.

carosel2 · 01/12/2021 18:18

@Gally123 - looks like you won't hqve to front Tpro qbout the binus I mentioned with their email! Plusnyoul be able to backdate- now there's a bit of good news at last. At least its something. Shame DICT8 cant give out an incentive perhaps say tackle the crap and wel give you 10p a line (or more) for doing it and getting rid of it for us

Gally123 · 01/12/2021 19:45

@carosel2 - win win situation I think!!

Chrissols · 01/12/2021 20:14

Hi everybody, been away a while but back now 😃😃

OP posts:
Gally123 · 01/12/2021 20:22

@Chrissols - I did wonder if you were okay.

Chrissols · 01/12/2021 20:36

@Gally123 had a bit going on, getting there now though. Hope all’s good with you 🙂

OP posts:
Gally123 · 01/12/2021 20:39

@Chrissols - a few minor issues - organising boiler service after being let down, now need an electrician to fix kitchen light, if not one thing, then it's another, but nothing major.

Chrissols · 01/12/2021 20:43

@Gally123 it’s the time of year for anything electrical to start playing up, always seem to anyway. Still, three weeks is the shortest day and then we head to spring 😃
