Hi all........

@carosel2 - I agree with what you say - this month I have done more Tpro and very little DICT8 as the dictation is so cr*p. I will stick with both companies for now as with the problem yesterday when the system went down and the recent BH with no work it is good to have a back up, but I am finding TPro less stressful as better dictation and nicer people, and I have found some doctors where I can earn that little bit more to even out the ones that are bit more time consuming.

carosel2 · 22/06/2021 08:35

@Gally123 - absolutely!
when I worked as a med sec in just one of the speciities I have (I have two now as I gave up a 3rd as it was neither here nor there) is that my specialities have at least 8 different clinics attached to them not to mention Nurse Led. I only (and have ONLY ever had) 4 different clinics relating to one and 3 on the other speaciality. A colleague of mine retired a couple of years ago before pandemic and joined them. She moved to another part of the country and ive kept in touch randomly but was so interested and curious to know recently just how she was getting on and asked what sort of work she received (she has one of my specialities), she told me she does different clinics to me! so that ladies just proves we are given certain accounts to work on. When I think of my two with all the different clinics in both, if I had access to all my two speciality's letters and all the hospitals involved I should be seeing hundreds and hundreds of letters even just in my two fields. I most definitely have been given certain accounts to work on and Im sure others have been too

Gally123 · 22/06/2021 08:43

@carosel2 - I have been wondering if TPro have done the same sort of thing when they brought in the groups as with the less work due to the cyber attacks yesterday with one of the specialties I like to type there were about half a dozen letters dictated by the consultant but I only saw 3 or 4 for each registrar and SHO etc and I am sure they must see more patients than that each clinic, although I presumably miss seeing some as people take them when I am typing, but I think we are "rationed" on both the good and the bad (one dictator I have avoided as speaks to fast and the Irish accent is too strong even for the VR and that person regularly seems to see 10+ patients each clinic).

carosel2 · 22/06/2021 09:21

@Gally123 - yes I have the same specialties on Tpro and on both get the consultants letters on again just certain clinics which are so easy and I get the bulk of their clinic. I can type a letter stating patient will be referred to jo bloggs and then the next letter I pick up is the referral. I can type all their clinic! Which is great their reg's are on too but like you I try and if they arent very clear I make a note of their name and avoid them. Same for any other speciality I choose if none of my favs are on. I have a list of names now I know who I can type freely for and who to avoid. But again in my good ones I only get certain clinics from them which im not bothered as ive become to know them which is making it so easy. They are so lovely to work for too but still like to keep both going as its nice to swap in between, that way it keeps the pennies topped up. Accuro have been bombarding with desperate cries for help for medical. I was on 50p per audio min. I asked out of curiosity what the going rate was, with a reply 40 to 45p per audio, ! I said at such low rates I was unable to help them to get a reply its the average rate other companies are giving. Well thanks but no thanks Smile

danblack87 · 22/06/2021 09:36

@Carousel2: I used to love typing whole clinics on Dict8 - haven't seen that for over 20 + months - those times I could earn between £11 and 15.00/hr with the 'favourite' dictators ... Aye, those were the days!!!!

Gally123 · 22/06/2021 09:58

@danblack87 ahhhhh, those were the days - I think my best clinic I remember typing I earned about £35 for a morning's work - these days it can sometimes take all day to earn that amount.

carosel2 · 22/06/2021 11:08

@danblack87 - yes me too!, (the good ones), but I'm still getting full clinics from one doctor at times, one task after the other but they are the crap dictations, plenty of them on at the moment task after task, I get rid of a few and then more is replaced by the same doc Sad I also have some newbies added too, same type of clinics mind, different docs as different hospital, but again shocking. I suppose now clinics are going back they are swamping out the goodies I used to type for. I have plenty on, but like I say soul destroying that's why I keep hopping back and forth now from Tpro to keep me sane Grin lol

danblack87 · 22/06/2021 11:24

@Carousel2: Today, for me, the dictations are better ... yesterday, awful. I do realise that SpR's and SHO's change over in rotation so we lose some good ones that way (?twice a year) or gain good ones !!! to lose some awful ones - roundabouts c'est la vie Smile.

carosel2 · 22/06/2021 11:41

@danblack87 - yes true, I think the newbies need educating a bit more about how to use the software too perhaps its not all their fault, but surely Dict8 should be doing this or the secretary, as we used to, when we worked in the NHS , gently guiding them along to provide better dictation, hence them receiving back more accurate work. To me it is common sense, you get back what you put in don't you. Good dictation, excellent transcribing Wink

danblack87 · 22/06/2021 11:47

@Carousel2: I agree. Where I worked the new's had an induction on the use of the equipment and us Secs used to highlight a few things as they went along at the start. Of course now, as we are only underpaid audio typists with a whole wealth of knowledge between us 'we are not allowed to say that in notes' ... it's the way the cookie crumbles I guess ... just wish there were less crumbs LOL hahahahaha

danblack87 · 22/06/2021 11:50

I meant less crumbs and more Biscuit Smile Blush

carosel2 · 22/06/2021 12:09

@danblack87 - tou-che! Grin Grin Grin

Gally123 · 30/06/2021 12:49

I have had problems with my broadband for a while (and I am thinking of changing), however over the last week or so it has got worse and after 2 phone calls on Monday to enquire I have a confirmed fault that should be mended by tomorrow night.

I am suffering frequent loss of connection, sometimes only very, very slightly but enough so that my mouse jumps over the page as the connection pauses then reconnects leading to wrong bits of dictation being deleted and commas and full stops being put in the wrong place etc.

Worse than this, however is when I get a slight longer pause in the connection at the same time as selecting a task on Tpro it can lead to the VR not being downloaded and me being face with a long letter with no text! Therefore as I am not paid for typing letters, only being on the low rate for VR, I have contacted them through the help desk, and so far every time they have managed to retrieve the VR. So if this happens to anyone else - don't panic and put the task back in the queue, but ask if they can find the VR for you.

If only I can sort my holiday so easily......

Chrissols · 30/06/2021 13:06

@Gally123 I had horrendous problems with my internet a while back (with SKY) and as soon as I told them I was leaving, hey presto, no more loss of connection.....amazing what they can do when they think you are leaving. I am still going to leave at some point though and move to BT.

Is it Guernsey your going to?

OP posts:
Gally123 · 30/06/2021 13:33

@Chrissols - I thought at first that my problems were laptop related (this is a Dell one and not as good as my previous Acer and planning to get a new laptop). I am with PlusNet for broadband and BT for phone line, always been with BT for phone and as PlusNet are a part of BT I was allowed to take broadband only with them at first, however they have changed policy on that have keep putting the prices up and once they increased my broadband charges but not other people's (my uncle is also with them and his stayed the same price) and when I queried it they quoted me an alternative very expensive monthly plan for all inclusive. They told me at first there was no problem and that speeds quoted are an average and mine were okay. However, I contacted again via Twitter and after more tests was told I have a "battery contact fault" (which is worse when it rains, like currently) so I phoned BT and within seconds they agreed and said it would be fixed by Thursday night. Fingers crossed. I am thinking of moving my broadband as well to BT now. At one point they were difficult to contact if there were problems but now it seems easier.

As to my holiday, it is supposed to be Guernsey but the holiday company are umming and ahhing over everyone needing to be fully vaccinated - but I thought tour companies were insisting on this for cruises so why not say this for Guernsey? After the trouble I had last year when I found out my holiday was cancelled less than a week before I was due to go, and not from the company but from the hotel, and then I had a lot of problems trying to book elsewhere at short notice as all full etc I am thinking of just delaying Guernsey to next year on the flexible deposit scheme and booking a UK tour instead that should be going ahead. I don't want to be let down again at the last minute.

Chrissols · 30/06/2021 13:48

@Gally123 I know just how you feel. We were booked for Tenerife in May this year, which was cancelled. We were also, and still are, booked for Turkey in October this year. They are still on the red list so who knows if we will get there. Amber would be ok as I work from home so isolating when we get back isn't a problem, and we are both fully immunised. But, with things changing as they do at the speed they do, we have no idea if this will go ahead, it will be after the update in September by the time we know if we will be going or not......it takes the excitement away of looking forward to it, which is a huge part of a holiday 😪

Gally123 · 30/06/2021 14:02

@Chrissols - just lost another letter on Tpro as engineer fixing the fault now - sort of. I lost connection and also the phone for about 20 mins. Then he reconnected, phoned to ask what the problem was and said could he come and look at my laptop to see! I said not really! If other people can see if there is a fault, why can't he? It is running a bit better at the moment, fingers crossed, not perfect though, but I am giving up on Tpro for the day and maybe back to DICT8.....

Guernsey is open to people with both vaccines, no need to self-isolate, so I do not see what the problem is.

danblack87 · 30/06/2021 14:08

@Gally123: what a horrendous day you are having ... I hate it when the internet goes down but luckily I have not had that problem for some time. Plenty of work on Dict8 ... I didn't work Monday or Tuesday. Flowers.

Meha5a · 30/06/2021 14:34

@Gally123 I have had BT internet for years and it's very quick.

Today I believe even a Saint would give up typing with the crap dictation I am getting I think DICT8 should allow us x amount of throwaways a day so this rubbish does not linger around on our lists, I am having to come on and off in the hope the crap disappears.

I do think DICT8 should have a word with their clients as having to turn the volume up has consequences on our eardrums.

danblack87 · 30/06/2021 14:43

@meha5a: dictation not been too bad for me on Dict8, depends on specialty I suppose?
