Hi thanks for the reply,

Yes I know that you send the invoice at the end of the month and get the pay usually around the 5th-7th but what I mean is do they do an early pay in the month of December only for Christmas? Perhaps not wondering if it’s something I could ask themSmile

carosel2 · 10/11/2021 11:31

@ShanJG - not sure about Tpro as I haven't worked that long with them, I started in Feb this year, I suppose you could ask if you are relying on the money you've earned then at least if you know they don't, you aren't relying on it. @Whitestar5 - I am not getting any tasks with DICT8, well very few and far between anyway, which I find odd when I work for some of the busiest specialities. Its never been as quiet (well actually it has! lol Grin

danblack87 · 10/11/2021 11:47

@ShanJG: I have never tried putting invoice in early in December so I do not know the answer. @Carousel2 and @Whitestar5 I am seeing a fair few tasks back end of last week and so far this?

Gally123 · 10/11/2021 12:02

@carosel2 - I have tasks on DICT8 but few I can understand or hear, but it not as many tasks as usual. Also TPro does not seem to have picked up as I would expect after half term. There are a couple of regular clinics I look out for to type and not seen them this week. Also, on a personal level, I am due a yearly appointment that was virtual last year and was told it may be virtual or in person this year and have yet to receive a date (I must chase it up), and I need a blood test before hand so they should give plenty of notice as need to book at GPs and last time there was quite a wait. However, I bumped into a past secretary recently who I worked with and she said her clinic appointment which was to be in person had been cancelled, and that all appointments in November at the hospital had been cancelled for some reason but she did not know why, so I am just wondering if hospitals are scaling down clinics ready for another COVID surge. I hope not, as with 22 working days this month I wanted to earn a decent amount, but looking increasingly unlikely.

carosel2 · 10/11/2021 12:17

@Gally123 - I must admit I thought same about them going back to homeworking as Gov. encouraging people to work from home again as much as possible and now they've had the taster from the freebie DICT8 gave there will be nothing stopping them if it worked well before. I went for a face to face appt couple of weeks ago as I needed scans. It was like Marie Celeste, four different clinics running and half a dozen patients! My next one is a telephone appt back end of year. I think DICT8 has not only shot themselves in the foot but certainly crucified us poor transcribers. I only have one hospital with Tpro but there is more than enough on there if I want to do different specialities, trouble is I cant understand a lot of them so just stick to the familiar ones which seem to disappear pretty quickly as It looks as though its just me typing them! I feel like their personal secretary lol, but not bothered because they are so clear @danblack87 - nothing but a handful all morning for me today

Whitestar5 · 10/11/2021 13:25

Has anyone noticed that there seems to be very little communication from DICT8 lately, apart from the odd email informing of work being available in your specialty? I do wonder if they are holding off on instructions and feedback in order to keep within the boundaries/laws fine line of contracting us as self employed, which many of these companies do to avoid paying employee national insurance, sick and holiday pay, pension etc.

KAnthony · 10/11/2021 13:31

I’ve found it totally the opposite these last two weeks. Wasnt sure if it was due to half term finishing or whether they had taken on more Hospitals but I’ve had quite an increase in tasks, can rarely get it down to 0 (which irritates me) and hearing new voices coming through now

Lol why would you be irritated at rarely getting the tasks down to 0? Surely it is better to have 100s Smile
KAnthony · 10/11/2021 13:57

OCD 🙈

ShanJG · 10/11/2021 14:01

@danblack87 @carosel2 No harm in asking! Thank you bothSmile

danblack87 · 10/11/2021 14:04

Over zealous OCD - burn out on the way ...

danblack87 · 10/11/2021 14:33

Just taking a break now to prepare dinner .. GOD forgive me if I miss anything!! NOT.

danblack87 · 10/11/2021 15:48

I am getting the same voices - some good, some bad. Not achieved what I hoped today but enough to pay the bills if I stay on target rest of the month ... fingers XX'd. Long hot bath and a glass of port required at 8pm then ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz

carosel2 · 10/11/2021 16:11

@danblack87 - now that sounds like a plan!! Grin

danblack87 · 10/11/2021 16:12

@Carousel2: definitely a pan = my 1 hour luxurious treat to myself. Hope up are well.

busybusy10 · 12/11/2021 10:05

Hi

Sorry if posting in wrong place or if there is a post that covers this. I currently work as a secretary in a hospital and am looking for more work but working from home. If I apply to Dictate and am successful I would do in the evenings but how would this affect my tax?

Many thanks and sorry if this has been asked before!

Gally123 · 12/11/2021 10:25

@busybusy10 - you would need to register as self-employed and fill in a self-assessment tax form and pay tax on your earnings. This is the same for any typing work with DICT8 or Tpro etc.

Whitestar5 · 15/11/2021 16:49

@busybusy10 You would have to pay tax on your earnings with DICT8 if your other earnings combined take you over the tax allowance threshold. On another note, the pay with DICT8 is very low. It hasn't changed from 8 pence per 65 characters for years, despite the cost of living increasing, and you are only paid for those characters typed in the main letter field (not notes or queries or for time spent researching and typing hospital numbers, DOB etc in the ID boxes or for dictated instructions to secretaries etc, which we are expected to type without payment, which can be quite time consuming in some cases) meaning you have to work long and hard for little reward.

Cherryblossom114 · 15/11/2021 18:44

@Whitestar5. Third world labour and dont forget the proofreaders who only has to fill in the gaps and probably alter to what THEY presume is being said then let you know in no uncertain way 😠

deewu · 19/11/2021 11:44

It has been my turn over the last few days to get the goldfish bowl dictation and horrendous noise, hissing etc in the background even though there are lots of tasks, it is so frustrating.

Gally123 · 19/11/2021 13:41

@deewu - I have had some rubbish as well this week, so today I just gave up and went shopping instead.

deewu · 19/11/2021 14:30

@Gally123 such a good idea. I have just been out for a long walk, still rubbish!

deewu · 19/11/2021 14:56

I have decided to do my tax return hopefully more straightforward, the numbers keep going up on the tasks and the list does not change

danblack87 · 20/11/2021 10:48

@Deewu - I have been getting 'goldfish bowl' ones too and some just awful dictation. The task list just didn't shift at all so I took most of the week off ... xmas shopping, wrapping and sorting out my xmas tree!!

Lucylizzy123 · 22/11/2021 12:03

I have just caught up with the latest comments. Personally I have not not typed for DICT8 for the past year, and entirely work for TPRO. There is always so much work available on there. I am so used to VR now that I really could not go back to DICT8 and hammering away on the keyboard. My pay has doubled with TPRO, and they now pay directly in £s rather than euros which has made a huge difference.
It is so interesting to read the comments, and it seems absolutely nothing has changed in the past year, same problems etc. I would really urge people to vote with their feet and move to TPRO. I have never had a negative comment from them, and if I do make an error they advise and help, they do not batter my self confidence which DICT8 always did if I made an error. All in all they are incredibly good to work for. There is no "Rotweiler" barking at you, ever. Anyway, just thought I would chip in my comment here.
