What do you resent buying?

I really need a new iron. The one I have is over 20 years old and just spits mucky water on to my clothes. I have tried descaling it, to no avail. Who the fuck wants to spend good money on an iron, though?

I also need a new mattress protector as the plasticy-rubbery stuff on the underside of ours is flaking off and its all a bit manky. And we do need one, as we live in a hot country and I'm peri-menopausal. Angry Again, though, when I think of all the fun/nice/pleasurable things I can spend my hard-earned on, somehow the mattress protector never quite makes the cut. Blush

Am I alone in this or do other people also have a growing list of un-fun things to buy?

Replacing fences, although concrete posts seem to do a good job of keeping them up in gales, so not so many recently.

Peak train fares to get to work

I tried a mooncup about 20 (well 17) years ago and it didn't work for me. Doesn't work for lots of women so no point going on about it and telling women they are stupid for not using them.

Urgh the bloody council tax... let's pay yet more tax out of my salary that I have already been taxed on to get my bins occasionally emptied

Oh yes!

I resent all the food that my step daughters feckless boyfriend eats when he comes to our house. I work long hours to buy food while he sits on his lazy unemployed arse. I seethe a lot.
You should defo tell him to stop doing this. There is no point seething, just tell him straight and to his face that he can't eat food here as you can't afford it. Alternatively he can make a contribution to meals. Job done.

School uniform - you’re supposed to be able to buy any uniform and stick a crest on but in reality no one sells the shirt, there’s a special tie, and a completely unique crested tracksuit that has no genetic equivalent.

Clothes for stupid theme days that the school thinks up - red day, blue day etc, ds refuses to wear them again (it’s an asd thing) so it’s a t shirt for one day. And for sports day they’re always assigned a team colour that doesn’t exist in real life.

Stamps. I have a few far flung elderly relatives who love to get a letter. But oh dear Lord the price of those things. And they keep going up, so even though I have a supply I have to trudge to the post office to buy another to make up the difference.

If you're just buying first or second class stamps without the value on them, then you don't have to buy more when they go up, they're still valid to use after price rises: www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2020/12/stamp-price-increase/
