If you don't live in a standard "normal" way, how do you live?

Curious to know how people live if you don't live in "standard" way, how do you live? ie you live in a commune, you travel the world with your family etc etc

... you live on a barge on a canal, you live alone in the middle of nowhere... etc

Oh this is going to be an interesting thread!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 02/06/2021 17:57

we have 7 kids - does that count as not standard?😁

looking forward to unconventional living stories!

MrsCremuel · 02/06/2021 17:59

Bookmarking! Very conventional here I am afraid.

MareofBeasttown · 02/06/2021 18:00

I have been an expat all my life from the age of 4 and have lived in about 8 countries and 12 cities.

Oooh curious.

AnyFucker · 02/06/2021 18:03

Brilliant thread!

How do you know ? There is nothing remotely interesting on it yet Grin

Bargebill19 · 02/06/2021 18:04

On a narrowboat for the last 22 years.

1988Username · 02/06/2021 18:05

No children by choice ... that would seem to be unusual and unconventional with the rest of my family! Other than that nothing much.

RIPwalter · 02/06/2021 18:07

Live 300m up the side of a mountain in Snowdonia. We are off grid for water and sewerage, but other than that quite normal and dull.

I should have been explicit

Brilliant topic for a thread

And actually not a page in - and I’m already very interested

Just went more details from posters (greedy!)

shewalkslikerihanna · 02/06/2021 18:10

Live between two homes March to end of November
Not just talking weekends
Spend more time at our holiday home then our normal home
It’s about 5/2 or 4/3
Bloody love it
Had a cracking 5 days this week
Then in the winter spend about 8 weeks abroad

Probably nothing very unusual in that though to be fair

AnyFucker · 02/06/2021 18:11

Now there is Smile

My dream

Presumably retirement age and no school children?

Sometimesfraught82 · 02/06/2021 18:12

I thought 7 children was pretty interesting
My mind boggles actually

TropicalFairyCake · 02/06/2021 18:13

Pretty unusual to spend 8 weeks in winter abroad I'd have thought!

Sometimesfraught82 · 02/06/2021 18:15

And living in 12 cities!

Do you plan to settle where you currently are?

That sounds lovely.
Puffalicious · 02/06/2021 18:16

Not me- very, very conventional- but my awesome friend who lives on a very small, tropical island with her 4 year old and part of her job is scuba diving. We miss her, but she's living the life. She left the corporate rat race, travelled, found paradise and had a baby at 43. Go girl.

MareofBeasttown · 02/06/2021 18:17

@sometimesfraught82 Am not sure. I didn't exactly choose this way of life. Fell into it by accident. There have been v good times and v bad times.
