Anyone else seen the news?? Another baby on the way, relationship on the rocks, or good old fashioned age gap love?

I don't like Carrie but painting her as a jezebel is below the belt. She's not the one with a string of discarded spouses and children.

Remember Boris' verbal abuse was bad enough neighbours could hear him screaming at her and called the police fearing domestic violence.

The happy couple

Boris and Carrie married?

@WisconsinRaw like you I think the criticism should be for Mr Johnson, not Mrs Johnson as Carrie now is apparently.

paradyning · 30/05/2021 07:18

@CricketsBats

Mr Johnson renounced his mother’s Catholicism when he was confirmed in the Anglican faith whilst at Eton, according to a biography of the Prime Minister. In order to marry in a Catholic church, Mr Johnson could have had his two previous marriages recognised as annulled. Alternatively, sources speculated that because he was baptised a Catholic, by not participating in Catholic ceremonies in his previous marriages, for which he would have required special dispensation from the Catholic church, those marriages would have "had a lack of canonical form" and could therefore be considered invalid.
But he surely can't claim Catholicism for this as it would go against him being PM?

Also agree with another poster, there's no way he would have got an annulment. These take years and years.

Motherofalittledragon · 30/05/2021 07:29

Yuck 🤮

shewalkslikerihanna · 30/05/2021 07:39

@BedknobsNoBroomsticks

I think Carrie knows what she is doing. She seems like she is in control of their relationship and the country.
I’m hoping she’s driving the bus out of restrictions Remember the ludicrous holiday in a pretty remote part of Scotland last year , with a yurt in the garden and a russian oligarchs yacht berthed in the next bay?

It wasn’t long before her and her girlfriends had a super dooper jolly in italy.

Let’s hope she puts pressure on him to have a more normal life for her and her son....Asap

PhilCornwall1 · 30/05/2021 07:46

Well, a vacancy has just been created.

Won't be too long before he starts "interviewing".

paradyning · 30/05/2021 07:48

Thought he'd already interviewed a violinist?

My bil and sil annulment both came through in 6 months, although they had to request one after the other instead of both at the same time.

Covidmary · 30/05/2021 08:12

Anyone else wondering if an Indian variant wave vs summer weddings looks very likely if our own dear PM couldn’t wait to celebrate until after June 21?

Peregrina · 30/05/2021 08:13

What sort of grounds could Johnson have got an annulment on? Not because his previous marriage wasn't consummated because it clearly was. What other reasons could have have given? He wasn't coerced into marriage, so that is ruled out.

Just imagine Johnson making vows in front of a priest promising to be faithful - perhaps he crossed his fingers behind his back, and hoped that God wouldn't see.

Now this is very depressing, are numbers about to be scaled back again?

Or did small numbers give him an excuse not to invite all his children?

Most of the guests were his children, apart from one, which was Dave or whatever the dog is called.

newnortherner111 · 30/05/2021 08:30

@PhilCornwall1 Dilyn the dog was at the wedding? Well at least we can be sure he will be a faithful companion to Carrie.

AnneElliott · 30/05/2021 08:38

No annulment is not just about money - it it helps hugely according to MIL and DH. I don't think it took that long either - less than a year, but this was 20 years ago.

The other part to it was attending some sort of church hearing where he (the divorced one) had to agree that his children from his first marriage (in a registry office helpfully) were considered illegitimate in the eyes of the church. We couldn't understand how anyone could agree to such a thing, but then he's not the Catholic.

Postponed honeymoon sorted down the line under the aegis of a trade mission.

Not sure if he was there, but you are right as far as faithful goes.

Rumour was that BJ had an affair with the deputy editor of the Speccie Mary Wakefield when Jonhson was editor who is now the wife of Dominic Cummings !

Sounds like another false rumour to me. Do you have a link?

Vera99
Clav- I refer you to his boss of 20 years who surely knows him better than most.

Boris Johnson's boss of 20 years is obviously a very perceptive man - he described Labour's 2019 manifesto as a “Marxist prospectus” and the current leader of the Liberal Democrats as a "colourless clone".

Have to say this did cross my mind :(

July is our 3rd wedding date

May 2020 and May 2021 cancelled

Better not make wedding under 30 in July after being practically promised normality and any numbers ......

Covidmary · 30/05/2021 09:01

I suspect we could break this down into more than one dead cat, the Catholic thing keeping everyone occupied mostly.

But a PR push in June with the PM “celebrating with the Nation” rather than slinking under the wire in May would be worrying me if I had a major event planned in July or August.

newnortherner111 · 30/05/2021 09:01

@TeddingtonTrashbag please respect squirrels and do not compare them to Mrs Johnson.

She has played him like a fiddle

Poor boris. Clearly the victim here.

I didn’t take it like that. More like:
What a smart woman.

Although, I do like to think that he has been taken for a mug in some way (ANY way) by his darling new wife.
She’s got a lot on him I bet.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 30/05/2021 09:16

Even if one those few grounds apply, an annulment is not guaranteed. My Catholic parents were teenage lovers who were forced to marry when my mother became pregnant (early 1960s). Their eventual application for annulment was refused.

Zzelda · 30/05/2021 09:24

It must be quite depressing getting married to a man with a long track record of regarding promises as just a form of words which are not binding in any way.
