I go down old Radio 1 top 40s on Mixcloud from time to time. Here are a few from some of my recent listens -

Hazel O'Connor - D-Days
Mobiles - Drowning in Berlin
PhD - I Won't Let You Down
H2O - Dream to Sleep
Rosie Vela - Magic Smile
Robbie Nevil - C'est La Vie

knackeredcat · 16/06/2021 12:03

Missed out "rabbit holes", I blame the heat 🥵

But yes, there are plenty of forgotten gems on those charts.

Fyredraca · 16/06/2021 12:10

May I recommend Absolute Radio with the playlist of your favourite decade?
I listen to Absolute 80's a lot, they have a no repeat guarantee during the work day. Also some interesting documentaries/interviews in the evenings.
There's from 60's to the present, Country and Rock.
I love it, mostly the DJ's don't talk that much (except on Breakfast show and Drivetime)

AutistGoth · 16/06/2021 12:18

Niche, but Telephone and Rubber Band by Penguin Café Orchestra. It was used in quite a few adverts and films in the 1990s but you just never hear it now.

BorderlineHappy · 16/06/2021 12:19

drpet49 · 16/06/2021 20:47

@itsnotmeitsu the Daniel Merriweather song is called Red- I agree, it is a fantastic song and deserves more AirPlay

lolacola77 · 16/06/2021 20:50

I love this thread! It's a shame Japan aren't played much. I love Hazard by Richard Marx, The Captain of her Heart by Double and Safety Dance by Men Without Hats!

I personally am sick on Lene Marlin, The Cardigans and Wannadies! I seem to hear those songs so much!

Botherfreedays · 16/06/2021 20:51

Hands to Heaven - Breathe

Ah, I used to love the PCO! We had a tape (remember them?) of one of their albums in the pub I worked in as a student, circa 1989. Music for a Found Harmonium is another good track of theirs.

So many good songs on this thread... think I'll be making a new Spotify playlist tomorrow!

WildRosie · 16/06/2021 21:11

Love Really Hurts Without You - Billy Ocean
Hey Matthew - Karel Fialka
The Closest Thing To Heaven - Kane Gang
Reggae For It Now - Bill Lovelady
