Is anyone a regular LBC listener?

I’ve only recently found it, and have heard lunchtime and early evening shows until now.

Just tuned in this morning and listening to someone referring to himself as “Steve Steve Steve”, and it is very Alan Partridge-esque.

It was real stream of consciousness stuff, running from the empty beaches of Barra and the soup you will need in your campervan to day trips around Twickenham, murders in Gloucestershire and litter-throwing, with little tonal range along the way.

I found it bizarre, but maybe this was an off morning?

Agreed. JoB's politics pretty much align with mine, but he's such a smug self satisfied arse that I can't really listen to him anymore. I prefer Nick Ferrari - at least he's got a sense of humour.

Sheila F is boring as hell, Majiid N also unbelievably smug and po-faced. He uses malapropisms frequently which as a pedant drives me bonkers.

Adore David Lammy and Matt Frei, Andrew Castle is irritating and just a rent-an-opinion.

The best is Iain Dale. He might be a Tory but he is balanced, sharp, sincere and a top interviewer. If only he could be Prime Minister instead of the arse in no 10 atm.

There are quite a few choice LBC clips on Youtube. If you go on there and type in 'LBC James O' Brien Epstein' you will hear three callers defending Jeffrey Epstein (yep, there are plenty who think he's innocent is seems), but the way James handles them is brilliant

Drop all the name dropping and talking about your school ( which sounds borderline abusive so I hope that therapy has helped with that one)
Let people talk ; you may actually learn something instead of talking over people or just ' trying to be right' all the time and just stop being an annoying person.

I just caught the end of James O'Brien's programme today. He was worse than usual. I like him, but I'm finding increasingly that I have to turn off as he's so impossible to listen to.

Oooh.... can i also add if you are reading this, stop being so pompous! We know your Dad had famous football managers calling him personally at home, we know you have grown up with privilege. We know you hate Brexit. We know you are a "white middle class privately educated man". Any black or women's issues you always use that "i don't know as i am a .... " card. You are a human, you are a son, you are a husband, you are a father. You can identify with these issues easily as you live on this planet. Stop talking about your privilege. No other broadcaster excuses themselves or apologises for themselves, in this way or , with that caveat. Just have/host the discussion!!

Traditional old sch LBC callers are afraid to call you now, for fear of being made a fool of on air or worse, cut off, as you did to a caller this very morning. They call Nick F no problem. Get over yourself son, the station was set up for the people/callers - not a platform for you.

And , Maajid, if you are reading this. Pls just calm down and don't shout so much on a weekend lovely. I can hear more when you say less. I cannot abide all this shouty ness at the weekend. You have much to say but, i cannot hear it above all the noise.

While i am on a role, LBC if you are reading this - can you bring Ian Payne across from LBC news? I think he would be great 1pm-4pm weekdays. Just saying.

The only time Shelagh Fogarty really pissed me off was when she was lecturing people, on Twitter as it happened, about meeting parents/granny etc back in December. She was really going off on one, totally missing the point that she was seeing her mum the whole way through and had no idea how it felt to be separated from your elderly loved ones. I thought she should have handled that one with a bit more empathy. Otherwise I like her.

Majid is good but because he is sooo knowledgable on the middle east it makes for quite a dull show, like a uni lecture you can sleep through!
Shelagh on Covid is scream inducing, you know she wants the whole U.K. economy to crash to save her 201 year old mother, she had zero empathy for mothers and fathers when they discussed home schooling last year. Nothing matters but her mum!

You are so right about Shelagh. She was so militant about all the rules and preaching all the time without giving a second thought to anyone else's situation. Only her life mattered. When the rule of 6 came she was able to have a drink with 5 of her mates so was ok with the rules but didn't seem to get it from the point of view of a family of 5 or 6 or anyone else for that matter. She was seeing her mum regularly and seemed oblivious to everyone else.

Just reminded me how knowledgeable him, Ben Kentish, Rachael Venables and their other correspondents are on news stories. They also have to work with all the presenters even when they are annoying e.g. Nigel Farage and have been threatened by some of the people they have interviewed.

James is unbearable today. He hates Boris Johnson and his government so much that he is hailing Cummings as some kind of honest hero.

The man is insufferable. I have no idea why he's not running the country as he clearly thinks he's God.

I'm not listening to him any more. He cannot host a reasoned debate. Roll on Eddie Mair and Iain Dale.
