Is anyone a regular LBC listener?

I’ve only recently found it, and have heard lunchtime and early evening shows until now.

Just tuned in this morning and listening to someone referring to himself as “Steve Steve Steve”, and it is very Alan Partridge-esque.

It was real stream of consciousness stuff, running from the empty beaches of Barra and the soup you will need in your campervan to day trips around Twickenham, murders in Gloucestershire and litter-throwing, with little tonal range along the way.

I found it bizarre, but maybe this was an off morning?

JOB is ok in very small doses , but I do hate how he shoe horns in his privileged background, the catholic private school he attended, his dad, his kids etc etc every time. I don't mind Nick ( if he lets the callers speak )

Don't forget his therapy!!!

That’s Steve. I suspect he is in here - some of the things he comes out with (going on about Naomis baby - ‘so did she buy one?’). He tends to read pieces out the newspaper.

I’m usually awake from 4:30. So I know all about his car, his diabetes, shopping in M&S, his brother and godchildren, his childhood in Yorkshire/Hong Kong, days on the biscuit factory radio, when he roomed with ballet dancers...

..and his opinion that Max Clifford couldn't possibly be an abuser because he knew him well and he just liked to 'help these vulnerable girls'?

...or that Jade Goody had to be making up the cancer stuff for a 'My Miracle Baby' story a year later?

I remember when he seemed to like Katie too. At 4:30am I just need mindless waffle to be honest. He talks twaddle and contradicts himself. It’s like your drunken uncle at a family party.

Another one who used to listen in 80s and 90s. My favourite was always Clive Bull as he was so calm and reasonable with everyone. Loved Babs from Bermondsey. Does anyone remember Chris from Crouch End? With her rather, ahem, extreme views?

Eddie Mair is an amazing broadcaster and LBC is good because of him. Majid Nawaz at the weekend is great too.

I remember Rosemary from Kilburn. I'd forgotten about her until you mentioned her. I think I remember Nick Ferrari talking about her on his show when she died.

Percypigg Ooh yes, and Sheila from Cockfosters? Funny the names that stick in your mind. I remember there was a documentary about Clive on Ch 4 years ago. Do you remember the couple who used to play the organ? There was also a regular guest who would listen to someone's voice and then describe what was in their room. Freaked me out at the time!

I also like Swarbrick @Bookridden. His Sunday show is great and I agree that I think he will go prime time soon.

She was on Radio London a lot (until the changes last year). I spent all her calls trying to place her accent. Very strange woman. Has Grace from Ealing who always sounds like she's got a cold made it onto LBC yet?

I hate it when James 0’Brien is rude to callers who try and disagree with him. He’s becoming unbearable.

The very first time I heard Steve Allen was 14 years ago, breastfeeding my first born in the wee hours.

He used to have a friend on (name eludes me but he often refers to him now) and I was agog at the FM radio listening to two old queens have a natter

I've been an addict since then.
Love Nick Abbot the most. Also like Andrew Castle but he tends to drift too much before he gets to the actual point.

HATE Majeed - actively turn off my radio but only when he's on.

The special legal and travel shows are awesome. Eddie Mair is the best addition but I do wish they would lose Majeed and get some more women presenters. Natasha Devon is an excellent journalist i have been aware of for many years so she is exactly what they need more of.

Too political now all presenters...and if if i hear the over entitled JOB remind me one more time , he is a "middle class, privately educated white boy" . He says it daily. Who cares. He clearly needs us to know that. So insecure.
Being middle class and privately educated is something i keep hidden for fear of coming across as a dick. People know i am white as i am blonde. End of!

Thanks @girl71, you've saved me typing. I've been listening for the same amount of time, my grandmother always listened. I really miss the old overnight days, Clive is a legend as was Adrian from the Tottenham Court Rd, Babs and the couple who rang in and played the organ.

Nick Ferrari is a twat though and the only one I turn over from. I prefer Vanessa in the morning.

I used to like Carol M and Nick Abbott, Jim Davis and his sex show. I once went on a date with a caller to a show ie we both called in and the presenter ended up setting us up!

Can't stand JO'B and Maajid Nawaz is a really hard listen as he argues with the callers who won't agree with him or answer his questions. I find him really grating and jarring and often have to turn it off and shout at the radio. I don't find that abrasive style pleasant to listen to. He comes over as pretty arrogant.

Nick Abbott and Iain Dale are my favourites. I remember the first time I listened to Nick Abbott I couldn't understand what the hell was going on with all the catchphrases and voice clips. Now it's just normal.

James O'Brian has become particularly annoying recently. Sheila has aswell to an extent. They have been almost preachy and acted as if they haven't broken one single covid rule throughout. They have both seemed completely oblivious to the fact that not everyone was able to do their job broadcasting from their spare room or shed and they are not required to wear a mask whilst doing their job so have no clue how it feels to wear one all day. Absolutely oblivious. James OB also does this patronising condescending tinkly little pretend laugh when he gets a caller on who he thinks is wrong and honestly it just makes him sound a grade A nob. Arrogance has become his thing of late.

I’ve found my people! I didn’t realise how many others feel the same way about JOB. With his prime time slot on LBC, I thought it was just me who didn’t feel the love!
