Accused of posting on someone's LinkedIn...

I work in a public sector organisation and have been called in by my line manager to say that I have posted something offensive on someone's LinkedIn page and of causing offensive comments on twitter. Confused

I have a LinkedIn account but don't use it much, I do remember following and unfollowing this person a few months ago but no recollection of posting on their page. Is there a way I can check whether I commented without looking at their profile? I know they can see if I have looked at them and I don't want them to make any more allegations about me.

You're doing a great job op. The anxiety is to be expected when you've been living in limbo for so long. The idiot will get his comeuppance and everyone will know what he's done. Just one foot in front of another for now xxx

I work in HR and this is utterly shameful how your HR department are behaving. Obviously your manager is an arse, but for a professional HR department to be failing so badly is abysmal. We'd have been hauled over the coals in my organisation if we let things drag on this long. Your union rep doesn't sound brilliant either tbh OP, I really do wish you the best of luck.

Utter incompetence all around

Oh I'm so sorry that you're finding it tough right now OP 💐
I think RandomMess has described it pretty perfectly and succinctly above!

AloneOnSaturn · 27/04/2022 22:57

Sounds like this manager has screwed up and has been carrying this on instead of holding their hands up. I’m 100% sure they have nothing on you, so try not to worry. Also sounds like he’s being protected by upper management too if it’s gone on this long. When this is NFA’d, make sure you ring this manager through the harassment and bullying policy. Don’t let him get away with it!!

HairyBum · 27/04/2022 23:28

Don’t fret, you’ve got a lot of mumsnetters rooting for you

BluebellsareBlue · 27/04/2022 23:34

OP but policy is policy, it's not guidelines, if you have a policy it must be adhered to. I know how you are feeling, I've been there in, dare I say slightly worse (I had to go to court for a malicious allegation- I'm a cop - not guilty eventually after three years) but if it's any consolation I know how you feel.

Bearyhumcrack · 29/04/2022 19:16

@BluebellsareBlue yes, that's my take on it. I just can't get my head around it.

Anxiety at an all time high today. So disappointed ahead of a BH weekend. I'm box breathing like it's going out of fashion!

OP I feel you, I really really do. Mine went on for two years, every holiday tainted, every birthday, in fact everything that should have been good in my life was tainted as this thing hung over my head and would come in with a flash of anxiety when I least expected it. All I can tell you is it will eventually be over and you will put it behind you. Sadly I have ptsd from it all, the cells and court appearances etc. But I live and go in, you will too, I promise x

It's shit that you have gone through it as well but the shared experience makes me feel slightly better

Sorry for the duplicate posts. MN is pretty glitchy. I'm here if you ever need to talk about how you're feeling. X

Alpinechalet · 29/04/2022 20:35

I know you have had legal advice, but this has dragged on so long I do think you need to ramp up the pressure on HR.

One option would be to lodge an ET1 for not following time scales in the discipline (original case) and subsequent grievance policies. You could include the mental impact of the length of time it is taking. As @BluebellsareBlue said policy time scales must be followed.

This would still leave the option of a further ET1 once the outcome of the disciplinary case and your grievance are known.

I believe your HR are either incompetent or hoping this goes away. An ET1 would focus their minds on completing their investigations and if necessary getting external assistance/legal advice.

@AlpineChalet i tried to PM you but can't work the new site. Would the claim be breach of contract?

I’ve sent you a PM.

Grrrpredictivetex · 11/05/2022 13:47

@Bearyhumcrack hiya. Surely to god you've had some progress, or at least your useless union rep has returned for endless leave? Keep strong

Bearyhumcrack · 11/05/2022 18:13

I've been summoned for an interview. Heaven knows really but I'm going to go in to that well prepared. Rep is back but is quite distracted.

I've had good advice from @AlpineChalet.

Alpinechalet · 11/05/2022 18:46

Progress.I hope they are allowing you to take someone in with you, ideally the TU rep. If so, make sure the TU rep takes notes.

Good luck
