I think protein yoghurt has just changed my life

OMG it literally has. I just bought the most delicious tasting fat free Icelandic protein yoghurt schizzle from M&S and it's frickin amazing and I'm totally full up after a quarter of a pot! It's bloody delicious! And best of all I've just discovered they stock the same thing in Tesco much cheaper! Am going to eat lots of it instead of biscuits and shit and get all Kate Moss like and skinny!

Had to come on and tell all of your lovely ladies as my husband just gave me a blank stare when I declared it was going to change my life and went back to writing his dull IT paper for work.

Tell me what foods have changed your life??

I need to try these
I'm low carbing, fasting some days and TRE

I really miss something sweet in the evening with a cuppa so maybe this will fill the gap

Is Kvarg the brand?
You can get Skyr in most supermarkets can't you?

FakeTanandProsecco · 28/04/2021 21:44

I love peach and apricot yoghurts they're my fave!

Can someone tell me more about Kefir? What does it taste like?

TheRavenNevermore · 28/04/2021 21:46

I'm really interested in trying kefir but I have such an aversion to anything sour/off if you know what I mean. Does kefir stuff taste like off milk?

CiderJolly · 28/04/2021 21:49

They have just over 5g of sugar per serving- sorry to burst your bubble but that isn’t low carb

Yorkshirecrab · 28/04/2021 21:49

Just watch out for constipation with these. I loved them but kept getting constipated so had to stop.

Fuckitsstillraining · 28/04/2021 21:51

Does anyone else here make their own kefir? I have been for years and love it, it has far more probiotics than the commercially produced stuff so its much better for you (most commercially produced kefir has probiotics added artificially), I drink it or add to smoothies, I strain it if I want it thicker and use it like Greek yogurt.

Justcashnosweets · 28/04/2021 21:51

You can buy Skyr yoghurt sachets in Home Bargains for 69p, I got the rasberry flavour, delicious.

MozzchopsThirty · 28/04/2021 21:54

@CiderJolly oh dear that's not good news

pregnantncnc · 28/04/2021 21:55

@IHaveBrilloHair ugh yes. The collective yoghurts are amazing. They do a vanilla kefir which is fantastic, sweetened with concentrated fruit juice instead of sugar, tastes amazing and is good for your gut. Their russian fudge live yoghurt is DH's favourite (full of sugar, mind - but delicious).

I am a sucker for standard full fat Greek yoghurt, though!

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 28/04/2021 21:56

White chocolate Kvarg is The Dogs Bollocks.

pregnantncnc · 28/04/2021 21:58

@FakeTanandProsecco @TheRavenNevermore

Normal milk kefir has the sour milk taste (you do get used to it, though - or you can make it fruit favoured yourself by blending it with fruit).

The vanilla kefir that the collective do that I mentioned above doesn't taste like sour milk AT ALL, though. Think they do a coconut version too. I get it from Tesco.

IHaveBrilloHair · 28/04/2021 22:01

I also like plain Greek yoghurt, must be full fat though to avoid the pritt stickness.
My favourite kefir is the biotiful brand cherry.
Basically leave the fat in my dairy thanks!

That's interesting - thank you.

I’m on a reduced carb diet thanks to gestational diabetes and high protein yogurt is one of my favourite things. Either plain Greek, plain skyr or the flavoured kvarg, with a handful of blueberries and some grain-free granola is lush.

This!! Changed my life

YellowScallion · 28/04/2021 22:13

Normal skyr yoghurt is nice but not the stuff you've linked to which is full of sweetener, kvarg is the same. It's a real effort to find yoghurts without sweetener these days.

GlutenFreeGingerCake · 28/04/2021 22:16

Skyr is not exactly a yogurt it's a cultured soft cheese to be pedantic although we eat it in the same way as a yogurt.

KillingMeDeftly · 28/04/2021 22:39

@GreenSlide alas I think that £1 Tesco yogurt may be regular Greek yogurt that's coconut-flavoured rather than yogurt made from coconut milk Sad

omgwhy · 28/04/2021 23:33

Even better, grab a bit of chocolate protein power, mix it in the yogurt and add chucks of dark chocolate!! It's the best breakfast

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 29/04/2021 00:03

@Twenty2

Fat-free yoghurt (and quark) literally tastes of vomit to me 🤢 Am I alone in this?
No!!
BluePeterVag · 29/04/2021 00:43

Wait a minute! What sorcery is this?! Delicious yoghurt that can help me lose weight? I need this in my life Grin

Gooseberries333 · 29/04/2021 03:56

I've been eating low fat plain thick yoghurt for years and agree it is indeed wonderful and so versatile.

Yoghurt + frozen raspberries/ pears/ porridge/ melted chocolate/ dollop on cereal and milk/ pieces of cod marinated with curry spices under the grill..I could go on.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 29/04/2021 07:35

Oh I've been eating and plain stuff for years - love it. But this flavoured Icelandic stuff is on another level!

@HighlandCowbag I have a yoghurt maker coming from Lakeland, it does cream cheese too. I’m allergic to cows milk so I’ll be using soya milk uht to make it with.

Can’t wait to have cream cheese with smoked salmon bagels.

HighlandCowbag · 29/04/2021 10:06

That's the one I have @Fluffycloudland77! Let me know how the cheese goes, am tempted to have a go at some next week.
