I think protein yoghurt has just changed my life

OMG it literally has. I just bought the most delicious tasting fat free Icelandic protein yoghurt schizzle from M&S and it's frickin amazing and I'm totally full up after a quarter of a pot! It's bloody delicious! And best of all I've just discovered they stock the same thing in Tesco much cheaper! Am going to eat lots of it instead of biscuits and shit and get all Kate Moss like and skinny!

Had to come on and tell all of your lovely ladies as my husband just gave me a blank stare when I declared it was going to change my life and went back to writing his dull IT paper for work.

Tell me what foods have changed your life??

Ooh I love skyr and kvarg! Yum 😋

kellykapowskiismyidol · 28/04/2021 20:35

Skyr and berries with skinny chocolate sauce is a fab breakfast.

dementedma · 28/04/2021 20:36

I tried Skyr but it tastes vile. Make my own in a yog pot. Cheaper and no plastic waste

Divebar2021 · 28/04/2021 20:41

Isn’t all yoghurt protein yoghurt? The Icelandic version has just been strained more. I am currently eating it ( baked apple flavour tonight with walnuts crumbled on top) but prefer full fat Greek yoghurt any day of the week.

SeaTurtles92 · 28/04/2021 20:43

Noooo! Don't out Tesco!

M&S will start a new case Grin.

Baker90 · 28/04/2021 20:45

Lidl do the most amazing protein yoghurts too. Think they're 70p odd. Vanilla is amazing, tastes like cheesecake filling! Few cashew nuts or a crumbled biscuit and blinking incredible!

IsItAugustYet · 28/04/2021 20:45

A crappy muller corner has about 8g protein in...

CrazyHorse · 28/04/2021 20:49

I watched a TV program
about Iceland and apparently they mix cream into their yogurt to make it tastier. So I tried it much to DHs horror.

Aldi kefir yogurt is bloody amazing. Maybe not life changing, but definitely amazing for the price.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 28/04/2021 20:51

Nestle Kvark, it's in with the protein yoghurts, made using quark which is a kind of soft cheese, really high protein, really low fat and low salt, smooth, creamy and less tangy than yoghurt. They do a white chocolate flavour and a blueberry & Vanilla flavour both of which taste like cheesecake.

TaraR2020 · 28/04/2021 20:52

I'm not a fan of yoghurts bc I like them sweet and bit-free which sort of defeats the point but I think I shall try these!

I love rye bread too, didn't know tesco sold it.

Yes! Fage has 8g protein per 100g Skyr 9.1g per 100g Some people are really gullible Grin
Judyisapunkrocker · 28/04/2021 21:14

@Twenty2

Fat-free yoghurt (and quark) literally tastes of vomit to me 🤢 Am I alone in this?
Nope, I know exactly what you mean there.
IfeellikeaJoan · 28/04/2021 21:24

Full fat Greek yoghurt with lemon curd - So delicious!

Full fat ain't gonna get me all Kate Moss like is it!

These responses are leading me to believe that there are two types of people in this world. Those who like vile lumpy yoghurt with bits in, and those who like delicious smooth & creamy thick yoghurt.

Has anyone tried Waitrose sour cherry and dark chocolate granola with fat free yogurt? Changed my life, I literally have it every morning for breakfast now Grin

Don’t know about Kvarg but yes Greek yogurt (I buy fat free) and Skyr have same amount of protein in them, actually around 10.5g per 100g. However, they do have different texture and slightly different flavour.

I do think they taste gross like off milk, but if you mix them with something or get flavoured versions the sourness goes. I mainly put mine in smoothies or add fruit purée.

readytosell · 28/04/2021 21:34

I've been having skyr and kefir for yonks before they became fashionable smug face

But seriously, really filling, low calorie, tastes great. You can even get Muller corner versions of them with oat and nuts! But my favourite one is the Lidl blueberry Skyr, I could just live on that...

Ariannah · 28/04/2021 21:35

Those yogurts are packed with sweeteners. You’re better off buying the plain version and adding fruit.

My hero products:
-Collaborative coconut yogurt. Actual coconut milk, no dairy, it’s amazing.
-Koko coconut milk. Same as above, it’s lovely.
-Kefir. Very healthy and I love it.
-JBasket Korean seaweed snack. Virtually calorie free, a great substitute when you’re craving a salty snack and it tops up your iodine levels too.

I would eat all of the above every single day but sadly they’re too expensive, so I have them once every week or two.

Templetreebalm · 28/04/2021 21:36

I think you are wrong 😁

Its booze and fags you need not yoghurt !

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 28/04/2021 21:37

The booze I can do no probs, but not the fags!

I hate yoghurt with bits in with the texture of vomit 🤮

Reminds me of the Peach melba Ski yoghurts from the 80's. They'd sit in the fridge for weeks because only the strawberry and raspberry ones got eaten. Bleugh. My mum used to try to stick them in my packed lunch. Grin

RogueV · 28/04/2021 21:39

Isn’t yoghurt protein anyway rigour calling it a ‘protein’ yoghurt?

GreenSlide · 28/04/2021 21:39

@AtomHeartMotherOfGod

I'm a Faye! person myself, but I agree about the absolute awesomeness of coconut yoghurt. I have to buy when on offer as it's fairly pricey, I find.

Tesco do a delicious coconut Greek yoghurt, big pot for £1.

Tempnamelady · 28/04/2021 21:43

Talk to me about making Greek yoghurt, sounds amazing
