Crumpets

Good Morning!

Just pondering as I make myself some breakfast - how do you eat your crumpets?

I pop mine in the toaster until they are piping hot then spread them with butter. The key here is that they are still soft.

My husband thinks this is gross as 'they're so anaemic' - he grills them to within an inch of their lives so they are rock hard.

I know some people have cheese on them, or jam, or marmite...so, how do you eat yours???

@BigWolfLittleWolf

I love crumpets. Haven’t had any ages because they are so calorific. I toast them so the bottom is nice and hard and crunchy and put so much salted butter on top it oozes out of the bottom. Rip up the crumpet and mop up all the butter puddle on the plate with it 😍
Trumpets themselves aren’t calorific, it’s the butter and toppings that add up.

Grilled till crispy:

Lashings of butter, so it melts and drips out the bottom,
A slice of cooked bacon, cheese on top then grilled till gooey, or
Lold tuna mayonnaise heaped on 😋
I need to find some crumpets now

Hot hot hot, bit crispy on top, salted butter and golden syrup...

Well toasted, with either loads of butter, or with Nutella Grin

Since discovering pikelets - M&S, Tesco and Waitrose all own brands - I wouldn't touch a crumpet again, way to stodgy IMHO. In the toaster until crispy, a knob of real butter then sprinkled with garlic granules / onion powder, heaven. I've just eaten 4 of them Smile

Too stodgy, not "to" - obviously carried away in my pikelet enthusiasm!

Love crispy crumpets with loads of butter.
