hi all, checking in, have name changed (was Trust)

not much to say really, same shit different day, GPs are having DS tomorrow night but loathed to book tea out like i usually would because i dont want to sit outside!

DS asked me if they were in our bubble this morning. I asked him who is asking that? Wouldnt tell me. Am sure school are sticking their oar in. Told him we are - childcare bubble or whatever. None of their fucking business as far as i am concerned.

Good vibes @LivinLaVidaLoki

Curlygirl06 · 07/05/2021 12:49

Echoing the good vibes @LivinLaVidaLoki

Here's a picture of baby geese for everyone.

Those geese are quite cute @Curlygirl06
I was once chased by a gaggle of geese as a child and I'm VERY wary of them now.

justasking111 · 07/05/2021 14:37

@Curlygirl06 those geese are gorgeous, I miss ours. We had welsh brecon buffs and chinese geese. I incubated ten eggs once called them alpha, bravo, charlie through to Juliet. they were such characters, would pull the washing off the line though. Very affectionate friendly loyal creatures.

Curlygirl06 · 07/05/2021 16:18

Thank you! My weekly job is to count the geese and report back to my grandson, we used to count them a lot last year when i had him and he was off school. What with lockdown and the lake not hiring out rowing boats cos covid, there was 53 at the highest count! The swans had a big clutch of babies and 6 of them survived to adulthood. Love that park, it's where we went bat hunting.

Curlygirl06 · 07/05/2021 16:19

There were, not there was! Grammar, darlings, grammar!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 07/05/2021 17:12

The utter bastard has not taken the island based approach he promised. He just stood there and told us Greece is Amber.

I'm just sat here crying now.

ISaySteadyOn · 07/05/2021 17:35

Oh, Loki, I am sorry Flowers

smallandimperfectlyformed · 07/05/2021 17:35

Oh no LivinLaVidaLoki I am really sorry to hear that. That's not fair on you and so many people with overseas family members.
Feel a bit insensitive to say this on a post responding to other people's bad news but I have had a good day. All of my girls were off school Wednesday with a cold, back today and my 5 year old was still coughing a bit on the way to school (wasn't when I got her ready) so told the headteacher about it in the queue. She said that there's been a cold going round but if she had a persistent cough they would call me. Got a letter from the council saying they had only been doing urgent and essential repairs in houses since the pandemic hit but now they can start dealing with their backlog (haven't actually got any issues but pleased to see it). Most importantly, I spoke to one of my 5 year old daughters teachers today and they have agreed there are concerns and someone from the inclusion team will be watching her within the next 2 weeks. Hello @Getyourarseofffthequattro nice to see you back. Soon childcare bubbles won't mean anything!!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 07/05/2021 17:52

Reviewed every 3 weeks. So take a massive gamble and end up having to isolate as we go in just over 3 weeks or change completely. I just can't think.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 07/05/2021 18:14

Though just realised you can test to release after 5 days. So really only 5 days self isolation potentially. If we moved it we would have to take DS out of school to make it affordable (the prices have shot up) so what's the difference between taking him out to self isolate? Least he could access remote learning maybe?

I've never taken him out before.

MercyBooth · 07/05/2021 18:15

@Worldgonecrazy Gyms and hairdressers not being shut for so long would have helped. Im already eating better because i dont feel like a scruffbag.

MercyBooth · 07/05/2021 18:17

@LivinLaVidaLoki that is shit Flowers

I think I would go @LivinLaVidaLoki keep him off school when you return. Just looking at Greece figures, it is puzzling what is driving the rise in cases it is certainly not tourism it started back in February, so just take care when you are there. If you have a vaccination all the better.

Well, 6.5 months out of school is clearly fine so what's another 5 days. Especially when it's family that you haven't seen in so long.

Everything is so unpredictable I'd say go for it while you can and things are more likely to get better than not in the next couple of months.

My good news is that I have a smear test booked. Grin The practice rang a few days ago and I explained about the mask issues, and the nurse rang me back today, and she's agreed to just wear a visor and I don't need to wear anything which is a big relief. I did say it was much appreciated. Fortunately I have a good clear history (and low risk past), but other relatives have had abnormal cells and one had to have invasive treatment at a young age, so they are something I was always hot on. Just unfortunate that I got my letter in March 2020!

It is an odd green list, some of those countries will not even have tourists at all, if you do not like haul its Malta, Gib. or Portugal. Done Gib. not really that great, Malta are there beaches? Portugal I adore but it is going to be mega expensive.

That's good Smile

I'm concentrating on upping the exercise first. No classes in 4 months is a shock to my body, but 3 weeks back and the DOMs is easing off each time. I decided that I'd focus more on diet in mid-May when that's eased. Getting stricter on comforting carbs isn't easy when you're sore and hopefully my metabolism should be up then.

DH has scuppered my plan refusing to do 5 days stuck in the house.

I just want to go to bed and cry.

Taswama · 07/05/2021 18:47

Oh no @LivinLaVidaLoki . I was going to agree with Bogroll that i wouldn't feel guilty at missing some school. Can you leave OH at home and just take DS?

In a sign of things getting a bit back to normal, I went to the gym today. I have to get someone to let me in as my phone doesn't support the bit of their app that tells the turnstiles I'm a member and lets me in. Today they asked me to try my fingerprint (the pre Covid way of getting in). It didn't work, so they took it again and added me back into the system. So I can go back to using my finger. Such a small thing but seems like a good sign.

WouldBeGood · 07/05/2021 18:59

@LivinLaVidaLoki 💐 On this occasion I’d suggest you just go with Ds?

He can stay home it is your family is it not? Just you and junior go and have a lovely time. He will miss you and be glad to see you all fresh and happy again. OH and I have had separate holidays he did two legs of a round the world yacht race leaving me pregnant the first time and with a baby the second it was fine.
smallandimperfectlyformed · 07/05/2021 19:27

Malta is beautiful! May be biased as my honeymoon was there but there are beaches and fantastic history. Friendly, fairly cheap, English widely spoken, clean and just lovely. Very hot though!!

amicissimma · 07/05/2021 20:33

@LivinLaVidaLoki, I agree with the others. Go for it. If all the months out of school aren't that important 5 days won't make much difference. These are strange times. (I hesitate to say 'unprecendented')

Stick with the dates and see if your DH gets an attack of FOMO as you and DS start to prepare. Isolation's only 5 days - a Bank Holiday weekend plus a couple of days equivalent.

TabbyStar · 07/05/2021 20:37

Thought about you Loki when I heard the list in the car earlier. I'd just go too. They were also saying that the price of flights would shoot up when places got moved to the green list because many planes are mothballed but there will be pent up demand. What a mess. Retail is going to be more of a mess too when the moratorium on evictions is removed in July.

I've given up on going anywhere this year, I will just spend more time at the outdoor pool!

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 07/05/2021 20:46

I secretly fancy both Malta and gib however there both places dp took his ex and because it's still so acrimonious im not sure either of us could go yet Grin I am quite aware of how ridiculous that sounds!

Oh no @LivinLaVidaLoki go without him! See your family, get some sun X
