According to my DD, 17. All her mates are ordering them for the summer. I’m struggling to get my head around this news.

@Lockdownbear

I love mine and wear them as slippers, except they seem to cause static buildup.
That explains why DH gives me small electric shocks! He too wears crocs as slippers.

@BluTangClan

Didn't people keep getting trapped in escalators the first time they were "in".
I've had my pink fluffy lined ones for years. My arthritic feet love them.

But I'm mainly here to learn more about the people getting stuck in lifts?!

Rae36 · 01/04/2021 08:06

Oops reading that again they got stuck on escators, not elevators, but all the same,why?

Just told my DS 15 about this thread and his first words in a very excited manner was ‘please can I have some crocs’ Confused - he is very particular about what he wears too.
I wear Lidl’s version for swimming and love mine but wouldn’t wear them unless I was swimming.

Shosha1 · 01/04/2021 08:31

Have chronic pain in my hips and feet so Crocs are a godsend. I have enclosed ones, open ones, wedge ones, ballet flats and even Chelsea boots!

TeaAddict235 · 01/04/2021 08:38

@QuestionEverythingOrBeASheep

They used to be quite toxic and were considered bad for your health as they leached chemicals when hot but maybe they are made from different materials these days. I wouldn't wear personally but people like the look without knowing what they are made from.
Exactly, I was wondering when the environmentalist aspect would be thrown in. Think of the source of crocs- oil. Think of all the micro plastics rubbing against your feet. Think of the dyes used in production. Think of the end of life of crocs- Landfills .

i still my original pair i bought what 10-15 years ago, they are great for pottering around the house and for when i come out the shower

Ladypuggerz · 01/04/2021 10:07

@Velouria

In pog form?
Love a good Simpsons reference. Wink

Crocs are slippers / garden shoes here only!

justwaydamin · 01/04/2021 10:08

I remember being in John Lewis a few years ago and there was a No Crocs symbol on the escalator
Like a croc in a no entry symbol
So there must be some truth to it?

frostymornings · 01/04/2021 10:15

@Sarahlou63

Don't (can't) wear anything else - a bunion has caused my second toe to cross over my big toe so Croc replicas are a must. At €3,50 a pair I can have every colour! Grin
Where are you finding them at that price? They're up to £40 on the Crocs website! Shock
3CCC · 01/04/2021 11:06

They're handy for putting the bins out & camping when you need the loo in the middle of the night.

Sarahlou63 · 01/04/2021 11:18

@frostymornings - in the Chinese shops here in Portugal

JosephineBaker · 01/04/2021 11:25

I love them - I wore my original two pairs until the soles were paper-thin. I have always got a pair of the flipflops on the go; they are the comfiest things to wear.

Costco usually stock them pretty cheaply.

JaquelineBeanstalk · 01/04/2021 20:15

Settle down children till I tell ye a story.

In Las Vegas, at the outlet mall, there’s a Crocs store. I found a pair I liked at a knockdown price ( pink tropical pattern, they stay in the utility room as my garden shoes)

Except the mall wanted $3 for a bag. I refused, had a look at what I had in my handbag, and a found an unused dog poo bag. So I put my brand new crocs into that and proudly carried them around for the rest of the day.

And that is still nowhere near the weirdest thing you will ever see in Vegas.

user1471530109 · 01/04/2021 20:27

What colour? I never had any the first time. Bit crocs must be the answer to my prayers! I really struggle with my feet. I'd love in fit flops of Birkenstock if I could. But I've had a toe nail removed and quite frankly, my feet are minging. Hiding them in crocs this summer could be the answer!

But. I'm an over weight 40 yr old single mum. I don't do trendy young person. I'd love to look like I'm not trying too hard. So I'm guessing a bright colour is out. I'm drawn to navy and grey or khaki. But I've put white in my Amazon basket. Am I kidding myself?

Igloo71 · 01/04/2021 20:27

@JaquelineBeanstalk but even if the poo bag had been “used”, the crocs would have survived. Crocs and cockroaches will be the only things left at the apocalypse!

@user1471530109 she’s ordered white and lilac, free returns so she can choose which to keep. She went for the heeled clog, utterly fugly in my opinion but she thinks they’re a thing of beauty. I must admit I’ve been checking out the flip flops for my nearly 50 year old feet..... oooooo comfort!

OP posts:
ElspethFlashman · 01/04/2021 20:42

People swear by the flip flops. My SIL won't wear any other brand and she lives in flip flops.

Chillychangchoo · 01/04/2021 20:45

I hope so. I don’t know what to wear at work in the summer as we aren’t allowed to wear sandals (support worker).

Maybe crocs would fit the bill but really?? Crocs? I don’t think I could currently face the shame. 🤣

user1471530109 · 01/04/2021 21:17

Went for it! Expensive bin shoes if all goes badly. My 11 yr old is horrified. Must be good Grin.

thebillyotea · 01/04/2021 21:23

You can't go wrong with a pair of crocs.

They look the best with a maxi-skirt/dress.

Sgtmajormummy · 01/04/2021 21:27

I found myself looking at Crocs wellies (shorty style) today. As recommended on a random Facebook video.
The children’s Crocs wellies with pull-on handles were well cute.

LadyCatStark · 01/04/2021 21:43

They’ve been back for a while... with shorts and sports socks...

CorianderBee · 01/04/2021 22:13

Yeah they love anything that Gen X and Millenials hate. Even if it's ugly 😂

Cipot · 01/04/2021 22:24

Thigh high crocs are a thing now apparently

Crocs.... they’re back?!!
