Lighthearted, give me your unpopular opinions.

I can start;

The musical Hamilton and Star Wars are over rated.

OP posts:
tangerinelollipop · 30/03/2021 14:33

People who have twee signs in their house saying "live, laugh, love" or some equally inane nonsense

Yes, wording on anything is lame. I don't like slogans either

GabsAlot · 30/03/2021 14:52

lorraine kelly shes fake and i noticed it 35 years ago not when she admitted shes a character on her show for tax purposes

sex meh can take it or leave it

whitespotsgreenleaves · 30/03/2021 15:47

I would like there to be a campaign aimed at girls and women encouraging them to realise that is is not their role in life to be 'kind'. The whole 'be kind' thing does a real disservice to girls/women in particular, and leads them to place themselves second to others in so many ways and often with disastrous consequences to them. Be kind no more!

MrsMariaReynolds · 30/03/2021 15:58

Most people have children because it is a societal expectation or a by-product of sex, not because they genuinely want (or like) them.

The only one worse is that Hilary Jones shill.

@MinnieMous3

Also posts which are along the lines of ‘I’m 42 and after 15 years together me and hubby started ttc number 1, nothing has happened yet and I’m so worried I’ve missed the boat’

Again, you can’t say anything but...

You get jumped on if you say anything. On MN land people regularly have multiple, full-term pregnancies with own eggs and no SN at that age and belong. And of course, there's the requisite, 'I'm really fit, healthy weight, don't smoke or drink.' Doesn't matter, your eggs are still your chronological age.

Zara is the worst clothes shop known to man.

ChelseeDagger · 30/03/2021 16:15

The primary reason why women are awful to each other, in a way which men do not tend to be is that we still live in a society where we are competing via our relative attractiveness to secure the best mate.

Consequently we get snarky with those who are preceived to have more attractive qualities than ourselves.

This happens entirely irrespectively of our own capacity to earn money.

Saggingninja · 30/03/2021 18:04

@FoxyTheFox

I think we were a nicer society when mums stayed at home and raised their children themselves

When was this exactly? Women have always worked, right through history, and the notion of a stay at home parent/housewife is a relatively new one.

'Nicer'? Do you mean those days when women were quietly drinking themselves to death or swallowing pills to numb themselves? Or when they and their children were being beaten and abused but kept it quiet because domestic abuse 'didn't exist'?
jessstan2 · 30/03/2021 18:05

My mother stayed at home and I didn't think it was all that 'nice'.

piddocktrumperiness · 30/03/2021 18:09

Gavin and Stacey is Shite
Rugby is shite
Tenby is crap
I'm Welsh and feel like they'll throw me across the bridge for this.

Housewives owe working mums a huge debt we demonstrate employment & careers. It’s us your kids meet at careers days,us your kids meet when they come to the workplace. Housewives can’t reliably or accurately describe working because you don’t do it. Don’t bother with all that used to be a manager,public sector,corporate because you’re not doing it now. You’ve delegated that task

Salarymallory · 30/03/2021 18:14

@Prettybubblesintheair

Not consulted no, told that this may happen and how do they feel about it, what can you do to help any negative feelings etc yes.
What happens if you want to move your partner in Your consult your, say 14 year old daughter and she’s adamant she does not want to share a small home with a man she doesn’t really like?
piddocktrumperiness · 30/03/2021 18:14

Oh god I think I can go on for ages
Caravan holidays are over rated- I've not worked this hard to pay a mortgage for my house, to have my two weeks of chill spent in a confined space with my family. That is not a holiday to me

She’s a character on her show for tax purposes?

What the heck does that mean?!

Oh YES! Any sort of camping holiday is no holiday - if I can't afford anything more comfortable than that, I'll stay at home, thank you very much!

Hamhockandmash · 30/03/2021 18:18

Humans aren’t meant to be monogamous

Neotraditional · 30/03/2021 18:18

@Prettybubblesintheair

New order are fucking awful. Over rated over played monotone drivel.

Lorraine Kelly is a self obsessed vacuous twat. Same for Stacey Dooley. And Denise Van outen.

Alcohol should be banned. It never improves anyone’s life.

Seafood is dirty and disgusting.

All fruit is grim but bananas are particularly vile.

Children do not always come first and shouldn’t be consulted on decisions especially those they are not mature enough to understand (moving house, extending families, partners moving in etc)

If you stay at home while your husband works you should do all of the housework, cooking etc and that includes picking up their washing and having a hot meal waiting. This is how my marriage is and we are both very happy.

Putting tiny babies in all day nurseries is cruel.

And lastly, I love these threads.

So you would move a new partner into your home regardless of how unhappy it made your child? You would put your desires above their happiness? I find that utterly selfish
